Chapter 3: As time went on...

3 months.

That's how long Lucy had been at the guild.

After the 'incident' Lucy was brought to a cozy, homey guild called Devil Tears with a nice guild master called Chihiro. Lucy had been out for most of the way, She was put into the Devil Wings infirmary and never said a single word.

She tried.

Opening her mouth and muttering coherent syllables.

Nothing.

When Inori, Haru, and Ikuto had dropped by to see her, she had said nothing. She didn't want them to think of her as weak.

Every question asked became unanswered. Lucy expected every to just give up and move on, leaving her to lick her wounds, by herself.

All alone.

Yet that had not happened.

Inori had visited everyday and had been the one to feed her and take care of her. Not a day passed that Lucy was alone, everyday Inori had visited, bringing bright, colorful flowers and complaining about how much of an idiot her friends were.

Even when Lucy didn't respond - choosing to stare out the window at the sky then listening to her 'annoying chatter' - Inori grinned happily, talking about how she would soon get better.

And soon, she did.

The whole guild mourned.

The loss of the happy, peppy, celestial mage was too much to bear.

Grey stopped stripping.

Natsu went solo without Happy.

Cana stopped drinking (that only lasted a week though)

Mira still smiled_but not as brightly as she used too.

The guild was in a long slump...

The residences of Magnolia were never woken up at midnight to chastise a partying Fairytail. Whenever anyone had walked pass the guild, they were met with an eerie silence.

It took a while.

A while to repair, smile, laugh, talk.

Soon...

PRESENT TIME:

Lucy gritted her teeth and summoned a beam of light to her left hand, and then she threw it up at the sky. She quickly formed another, and another, and another.

Dazzling rainbow colors came bursting out, and Lucy breathed in and out deeply. Slowly calming her anger.

She wanted to forget about Fairytail. She wanted to forget all the things they did together, the laughter they had shared, the memories...

Everything.

She had to.

Lucy scowled at the lacrima boasting about how FairyTail would win the Daimoutou Enbu.

"False" Lucy muttered under her breath as she squeezed her cup of water, wanting very badly to throw something at it, preferably a beam of light.

"Lucy wanna go on a mission?" Inori soft but firm voice asked from the mission board, as her eyes scanned each mission, analyzing it.

Lucy impatiently tapped her foot, eyes entranced on the lacrima.

"No...not really..." she replied back.

Since Lucy lived at the guild for free, she didn't have to pay rent, and bug her teammates to go on a mission anymore because she was 'weak'.

"Hmmm...I guess you're right, with the Daimoutou Enbu coming up there aren't many good missions to take" Inori said, shrugging.

"I'm so bored though..." Lucy said standing from the couch and stretching.

"We could always go and train..." Inori trailed off, the curves of her mouth moving upwards.

Lucy smiled.

3 people stood on the outskirts of the town of Magnolia.

"I'm bored!" a high-pitched voice drawled "we can easily just kill them! Just a flick of a finger and they'll all be dead!" she smiled, and twirled the gun around her index finger.

"Go ahead, and then you'll have to face the wrath of master" the deep voice from right next to her warned.

"Nah, don't think I'm that desperate to die..." she grinned, her white teeth flashing. "yet...How 'bout you noobie?" she gestured to the other female behind them.

"I'm only here to destroy FairyTail..." the femine voice whispered "I'll never forgive them...never"

"Good to see you have motivation, we'll need that, a lot of it" the man said, his head nodding in approval.

"Fairytail..." the person whispered.

"You're going down"

"Damn Ino, that hurt!" Haru said rubbing his head, as he sat down on the grassy meadow.

"You deserved it" Ikuto laughed.

Inori sighed and rolled her eyes "Right now, we should just focus on getting picked by Chihiro for the Daimatou Enbu"

"We're totally gonna come in 1st place!" Haru said pumping his fists in the air.

"Maybe, maybe not Haru" Lucy said tsk'ing. She wagged her finger in front of his face "don't get too cocky"

Haru pouted and Lucy's face broke out into a smile. "Well...you shuldn't get too cocky...yet" Lucy laughed as Haru's face turned back into a full grin.

"Haru and I have to go back to the guild" Ikuto said, he looked at them apologetically. "

Inori and Lucy said their goodbye's and soon it was only them in the beautiful meadow.

Suddenly a hard gust of wind blew in the meadow, making all of the short, choppy grass lean-to one side. The butterflies flew from the trees they were hiding in and they flew up into the vast, blue sky filled with long wispy clouds.

Lucy sighed as she let her eyes relax, her vision turning blurry. - A sound of pure content, as she watched the colorful birds fly high into the sky with their wings. The wind blew her long, blonde hair to the side.

"It feels good, right?" Inori said softly as she closed her eyes blissfully, her dirty blonde hair fluttered in the wind.

"Yeah...I feel like this is the last time it will be peaceful for a long time..." she muttered back.

"Lucy" Inori suddenly said. "Are you hiding something from us?"

Lucy's eyes snapped open. She thought of lying to Inori, or at least making something up - but she was too late. In that moment of silence, Inori had all the answers she needed. Even if Lucy lied quick enough, she couldn't fool Inori.

"...It's alright if you don't wanna tell!" Inori said quickly waving her hands in dismissal.

Lucy's breath hitched in her throat. She didn't know what to do, after all this time...could she?

"It's about your past guild...right?" Inori said softly. "FairyTail..." she murmured. Her eyes widened in alarm.

"Shit-Lucy! I-I didn't mean..."she stopped and fingered her pendent. "It doesn't me-"

Lucy stared at Inori "H-How?" she said her voice cracking.

"Oh Lucy, I'm so sorry...I should of told you of my...abilty..." Inori said.

"What ability? I thought you were a scout mage?" Lucy said, her heatbeat racing.

"I am...I have a special ability that only Chihiro knows about..." she paused. "I...I can see the future, It comes in handy when I'm fighting because I can see the enemies movement."

Lucy stood quiet. Silently drinking the information.

"So then how did y-" Lucy started.

"I don't know" Inori reluctantly admited. "When you first spoke in the hospital room...I saw it."

"What did you see?"

"...your hand - with the FairyTail insignia on it..."

"Oh" was all Lucy could say. Her mind was whirling with all of the possibilities. Would they kick her out? Woud they let her stay? Lucy's heart clenched in agony. What would happen? Lucy slowly walked backwards.

"Oh Lucy! I saw everything!" Inori said her voice in a loud whisper - obviously horrified. And then Inori did something Lucy would of never thought she would've done.

She hugged Lucy.

Lucy froze.

"It must of been so hard for you...Lucy I'm so sorry!" she said crying. "You went through so much...now I know why you never liked FairyTail when we would watch them fight on the Lacrimas!"

"I..." Lucy faltered, but then started again. "Inori...I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys...I-I thought that you guys would kick me out of your guild" Lucy felt tears dripping down her face.

Inori sniffed, her cloudy eyes started to clear up again. "We won't ever kick you out! You're our family!"

Lucy's eyes widened as the numbness in her body faded away.

They were accepting her. They weren't going to kick her out.

Inori hiccuped. "I'm sorry Lucy!"

Tears streamed down Lucy's face as she smiled, her blonde hair blew in the wind.

"Idiot!" she said laughing and happily crying - both at the same time. "I should be the one crying, not you!"

Inori froze, her eyes wide as she started laughing, a twinkling sound. "Your right! How about we both stop crying and we start laughing?"

Lucy grinned. "I agree!" She laid her head on Inori's shoulder and started to laugh, as Lucy laughed, Inori burst into laughter.

"H-How about w-we forget about t-this" she said, doubling over with laughter. "What matters now is the future, right?"

Inori snickered. "T-That sounds so cheesy, Lucy! Where'd you get that? A book?"

Lucy turned bright red. "H-Hey!" she said, but soon Lucy and Inori were laughing under the large tree.

"Guys! Come quickl-" Haru paused as he saw the two girls laughing. "What are you guys laughing about?"

"N-Nothing!" Lucy said

Haru pouted. "Come on! Tell me! I wanna know!"

"Girl stuff~" Inori said seductively, as she winked.

Haru's face turned red, as he vigorously shook his head, as if the thoughts would disappear from his mind.

"Anyway, come quickly from what?" Lucy asked. Her eyes gleamed with curiosity, all of her tears had dried up. As long as she had her true friends she was sure everything would be alright.

Haru quickly grinned.

"Chihiro's announcing the people that are going to the Grand Magic Games!"

"Natsu, Grey, Erza, Gajeel, and Lisanna!" announced Makarov

Cheers resounded in the guild in Magnolia.

"We'll definitely win first place again!"

"Go Fairy Tail!"

"No guild can stop us now!"

"Hmm...I don't know about that now..." Levy murmured quietly.

"Ehh!? You should be cheering on your guild Levy!" Jet said loudly, as the whole guild turned quiet, and faced her.

Levy sweatdropped. "N-No! It's not like that!" she nervously laughed. "I'm saying we shouldn't be too confident in our skills, there will undoubtedly be many stronger mages than last year."

Makarov cleared his throat. "That's right brats! Don't get too cocky just because we won last year!"

The whole guild agreed loudly.

"Plus" Levy intervened as she adjusted her glasses to get a better look at the magazine on the wooden table. "This guild looks pretty formidable" she pointed at the magazine and started to read a loud from it.

"Devil Tears, a new guild that is quickly rising in fame and glory in Fiore. The guild master is none other than one of the strongest Ten Wizard Saints, Chihiro"

Makarov's expression turned surprised. "Listen up brats!" he said once he took a large gulp from a bottle of strangely colored beer.

"This is the real deal!" he boomed "if this guild is entering the Grand Magic Games, keep your guard up! This guild is not an amateur guild"

Oh its fine! We'll definitely win because we're Fairy Tail!" Cana said loudly holding up her glass of beer.

The guild responded in loud cheering.

Natsu, Grey, Erza, Gajeel, Wendy, and Lisanna sat on stools right besides the bar table. Each held a drink in their hands. It was a light pink drink, on the top was a whipped dollop.

Lucy's favorite drink - a strawberry smoothie.

"We have to win"

"We will win"

"Definitely"

In a loud clear voice they raised their glasses and said in one voice.

"For Lucy"

"Hell yeah! I'm going to the Grand Magic Games!" Haru boasted loudly while Inori and Ikuto rolled their eyes. Inori glanced at Lucy every few moments.

Lucy grinned. "We're going too, Haru" she chuckled "not just you"

Inori excitedly grabbed Lucy's hand. "We're going to kick Fairy Tail's butt!"

"Totally" Lucy said, as they burst into laughter once again. Ikuto and Haru stared at the two girls laughing weirdly. The guild was loud, talking, cheering, and drinking merrily.

Lucy abruptly stopped laughing when she felt a shiver going down her spine. She quickly whirled around to find two pairs of black orbs staring at her, and at the moment she regretted turning around at all.

Ruka and Shiro glared at her.

At one glance she spun back around and returned to her former position.

"What's wrong?" Inori asked.

"Nothing!" She quickly responded.

Inori raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

It had seemed that Ruka and Shiro had hated Lucy the moment Inori, Haru, and Ikuto had brought her back here. They had always glared at her and made her feel unwanted.

Inori had told her about how Chihiro had made groups here. The groups would go on missions together. Ruka and Shiro had wanted to be in their group, however Chihiro had refused, and she had accepted Lucy into their group without a moments hesitation.

Lucy could imagine their outrage at her, so she had taken Inori's advice and ignored them. It had worked, however, it seemed that every time she had come inside the guild they were always there.

Watching.

It made Lucy always a bit self-conscious.

She quickly excused herself and walked outside of the guild - to the roof. She loved the roof, she could see all the constellations and stars.

Even as she was in the cell back when she was kidnapped, there was a small crack in the wall. Though it was not big, actually, it was quite small. On night's dark enough, she could see the stars with Yukina as they would make plans of running away.

The small, bright, twinkling orbs of light had always filled her with hope.

She fingered all of her keys. They twinkled as she turned them over as she held them to her heart.

"I was so happy when I found out you guys didn't leave me" she clenched the keys in her hand. "I'm so sorry..." she murmured quietly to the keys.

The keys all faintly glowed in response, reassuring her, a gentle smile making it's way onto her face.

"...Lucy?"

She turned around to see Haru standing at the top of the stairs. He quietly made his way over to her.

"What's wrong?"

She smiled and looked up at the stars.

"It's nothing...I was just..." she trailed off, trying to find the right words to finish the sentence. "...strengthening my resolve"

"And that is...?"

"I want to beat FairyTail" she said, her brown eyes becoming steeled with determination.

"Everyone wants to beat FairyTail!" he said happily "They were the strongest guild in Fiore"

" 'were' ?" she asked.

Haru grinned.

"Because we're going to beat them, right?...together"

Lucy's eyes widened, and she slowly closed them as tears dropped from her face. Haru turned alarmed.

"W-Woah! I-I didn't mean it that way...or whichever way you took it!"

She slid down to the floor, as she started to laugh once again.

"Don't cry Lucy! Inori's gonna kill me if she finds out I made you cry!"

"I-I'm just so happy..."
