My attempt at writing Jumanji 4, a franchise I don't own.

"Sorry it's so late," said repairman Jake Coulson to his client, Janice Gilpin. "Yeah, it's that time of year; everyone's heaters are broken."

"Oh, it's no problem," answered Janice cheerfully as she led them both into her basement. "I'm just glad you made it. The furnace is right over here," she said, pointing him in the right direction.

Jake smiled. If he'd seen one basement, he'd seen them all, he thought to himself. Suddenly, his eye caught a glimpse of a familiar object lying on a nearby work bench.

"Is that an old video game console?" he asked his client.

"Hm?" asked Janice quizzically. Then, catching sight of the device herself, she replied, "Oh, yeah, probably. It belongs to my son."

"Hm," said Jake in response. It had been a long time since he'd seen anything of the sort. Still, this one was a little strange, as it was all busted-up and in need of some serious repairs.

"Yeah, I'm a big gamer," he told his client. "I've never seen anything like it." Slowly, as if drawn by an inexorable force, he stepped closer and closer towards the game.

"Well, it looks like it's broken," said Janice, trying to draw his attention away from it. Instead, the repairman kept moving towards it, spurred by curiosity. "Maybe you shouldn't touch it," she cautioned him.

Jake no longer heard a word she was saying. All he could hear in his head were the hypnotic drumbeats of the magical game known only as JUMANJI.

Extending his finger, he reached out and touched the console.
