The Team and their allies return home.
Jurgen awoke in an empty storeroom, filled with clutter from a strange time and place. Groggily rising to his feet, he tried to make sense of his surroundings.
On the ground, he found a white cardboard box with the word 'DONATE' scrawled across it. Beside it was a piece of yellowed, wrinkled paper. Picking it up, he saw that it contained a message written in a strange font: A GAME FOR THOSE WHO SEEK TO FIND A WAY TO LEAVE THEIR WORLD BEHIND.
What could that possibly mean? he wondered. Examining the contents of the cardboard box, he came across a peculiar machine, which he suddenly remembered was called a 'gaming console'. Yes! With every passing moment, his memories of his previous life were returning.
Rushing out of the storeroom, the conqueror was amazed by what he saw. He found himself in a long hallway filled with people, illuminated by bright electric lights. The design of the building and the technology here seemed so futuristic to him, but only briefly. As more memories came back to him, he realised that he'd been here before.
Feeling his way along, Jurgen walked down the hallway until he came to a door he knew was of a restroom for men. Entering through it, he was greeted by a large mirror and another unexpected sight. Gone were his armour, beard, whiskers and messy head of hair – in their stead, he found a tall, well-groomed gentleman clad in tweed.
Jurgen's excitement grew. This new look, too, was oddly familiar to him. All of a sudden, he remembered where he was! This was a school, he understood, and he was a teacher teaching there. An alarm bell rang, and Jurgen realised he was late for his next class.
Acting on instinct and fuzzy intuitions, he somehow managed to collect his Geography teaching materials from the staff room. As quickly as possible, he hurried to his assigned classroom and walked straight in.
"Good afternoon, class," he said with a voice like thunder. He smiled to himself. It was all coming back to him now; he knew that he had to say that to begin the lesson. He looked over the dozens of young faces which sat before him now, trying to remember their names. That shy red-headed girl in the corner over there – was she called Martha?
"Well?" he demanded, when there was no reply to his greeting. He was offended – no one disrespected Jurgen the Brutal like that! Out of curiosity, he wondered why that piece of paper in the storeroom said that he'd wanted to 'leave his world behind'.
Grumpily, the class of surly teenagers gave their response.
"Good afternoon, Mr Burns."
Oh, thought Mr Burns. Now he remembered.
The rest of the Team arrived home just fine.
Bethany Walker was thrilled to find her car parked near Nora's Diner, in working condition and exactly where she'd left it. Before the holidays were over, she and her friends went on a road trip together.
Alex and Bethany Vreeke came back to Brantford to find their home restored, and their family members alive and well. Alice Vreeke couldn't understand why her husband seemed so choked up to see her, or why their young daughter was suddenly bubbling with tales of adventure. She wondered if he'd taken Bethany to see an action movie while she was gone.
Spencer and Jake became close friends; the repairman was always welcome at the Gilpins' residence, where he and Spencer spent hours bonding over the latest video games.
In addition to 'smoldering intensity', Grandpa Eddie decided to learn a thing or two about magic. After a few months of practice, he was able to amaze the kids in Nora's Diner with his impressive sleight of hand.
The day after Christmas, Fridge chanced upon a copy of The Da Vinci Code, devouring it in one sitting and developing an interest in symbolic architecture.
Martha became a member of Princeton's Taekwondo Club, competing in tournaments and further expanding her circle of friends.
In Jumanji, Milo Walker returned the Monkey's Egg to Nigel Billingsley, who cheerfully set off for the land of the Albino Apes.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This would normally be the end of the story, except for one little tidbit yet to follow. Stay tuned!
