Elizabeth hurried down the lane. It was chilly and she really didn't want to impose on Lee and Rosemary for too long. It was the middle of the night after all.

Sliding a note under Nathan's door. Now that seemed childish. But Elizabeth knew she needed her thoughts known to Nathan as soon as possible. He'd see this message in the morning and perhaps they'd be able to talk.

Elizabeth quickly realized that she was not the only person out that night. A tall lanky figure was coming her way. As he approached, Elizabeth's breath caught in her throat.

Nathan.

Nathan seemed to know it was Elizabeth right then as well. He stopped. She stopped. Then Nathan approached Elizabeth.

"You're out late," Nathan remarked, with the hint of a smile on his face.

"So are you," Elizabeth smiled. She couldn't help it.

"I, uh," Nathan paused, looking down to an object in his hand. "I was actually going to your house. I was leaving something for you." He handed her the note. "But since I happened upon you…."

"Funny story," Elizabeth chuckled. "I was going to your house. I had something for you too." She showed him the note in her hand.

Nathan felt his face breaking out into a smile. What was it about this woman?

"I should get back," Elizabeth admitted. All she wanted was to talk now, to read the note now. But she did have a son at home and dear friends who needed sleep.

"Yeah I should too," Nathan fumbled. "Will I see you tomorrow?"

"Yes," Elizabeth said simply.

Nathan nodded. "Good. I look forward to it."

As they turned apart, Nathan and Elizabeth's hands touched. There it was again, that electricity. Both knew the other felt it. It was obvious in their body language, in the quick catch of breath Elizabeth exhaled.

Elizabeth had finally been honest with herself. Where that would go, she didn't know. But her choice had been made. The rest was out of her hands. It was in Constable Nathan Grant's and she was more than okay with it.
