After we'd cleaned up America, and set the front hall to rights, he took me through the house. My eyes widened as we walked through the display of wealth.

Eventually we came to a wing that was less ostentatious than the rest of the house. This part seemed lived in.

The effect was cemented by the girl, lolling around on the couches.

She was wearing a long blue dress, with a pale green ribbon around her waist, and she was absentmindedly flipping through a book. She had the reddest, curliest hair I'd ever seen.

England put his hand on my back, steering me towards her, "I would like you to meet Terra Australis. She is my newest colony."

She stood up and walked over to me, then dropped into a shallow curtsy, saying, "Hello, I am Newfoundland, it is very nice to meet you."

I smiled, "Hello, Miss Newfoundland."

I looked in surprise as England's hand left my back, "Where are you going?"

"Francis will need help with Matthew." He Replied, "Eleanor, can you please introduce Amelia to the rest of your siblings?"

Newfoundland nodded - her human name must be Eleanor, "Yes, England."

England left. I looked after him, I didn't want him to go. But Newfoundland took my hand, hers was dry and soft. Mine was sticky, and hardened with callouses. "Follow me."

She led me out of the room. We walked through a dark corridor, to a room bathed in sunlight.

We stood in the doorway, watching the occupants of the room.

Two boys with dark skin were playing a game with stones and a board. It looked like fun, I wonder if they'd teach me?

The oldest looking was one of the boys who had been playing the game, he had golden-coloured skin and shiny black hair.

He stood, abandoning his game, when he saw Newfoundland, "Eleanor, where've you been?" He hugged Newfoundland, almost tackling her to the floor, "We need another player for Cheat."

I looked on, confused.

Then the other boy looked up from their game, "Who's she?" He asked.

Newfoundland extricated herself from the other boy's grip, "This is England's new colony, Terra Australis."

I waved shyly, my cheeks red from all the attention.

Newfoundland returned to my side, her presence comforting. "We haven't been introduced properly, have we?"

I shook my head, overcome with shyness.

"Hello, Terra, I'm Newfoundland." She curtseyed to me.

I smiled - I could do this - and curtsied too, "Hello, Newfoundland, I'm Terra Australis."

"Well, Terra Australis," she smiled, "Since the others aren't going to introduce themselves, I suppose I'll have to."

She pointed over at the boy who was still in front of the game, "That's West Indies,"

He saluted me. I saluted back. It was a gesture I was familiar with - the sailors had saluted England all the time on the ship.

"That's Jamaica." A boy with a shaved head looked up from his spot on the floor. I hadn't noticed him because his body was hidden behind a couch.

"And that's India." She pointed at the boy who'd tackled her.

I nodded, memorising the names, "I thought England would have a bigger empire." I said, "doesn't he have more than eight countries in his empire?"

Newfoundland laughed, "We aren't all of England's colonies! All the others, our big brothers and sisters, are back in their countries, doing work."

"Then why are Canada and America still here?" I asked, they looked years older than the rest of them.

"Canada and America are... special cases." Said Newfoundland.

"He means that they're England's favourites." Spat Jamaica, standing up.

Newfoundland glared at him, "Don't go filling her head with such nonsense!"

Jamaica shrugged, "It's not nonsense, it's true." He looks sad, "England loves them more than he loves us."

"He does?" I ask, "But England said-"

"Bah!" Interrupts Jamaica, "England says a lot of things. He says that he'll treat your people well, he says that he's telling the truth..."

A tear trickles down his cheek, "Lies. Trust me, Terra. Everything that comes out of that man's mouth are lies." He stands over me, his breath reeking of alcohol.

It's a scent I have become accustomed to. On the ship over, it was all we drank. And it was foul.

Newfoundland tugged me away, "Don't listen to him, Terra. He's had too much to drink."

But there was a sadness in her eyes, like she believed what Jamaica was saying.

Author's Note: It's pretty much canon that England names his colonies after his leaders. So, I had lots of fun coming up with names for them. England didn't name India because he was already named, but he did name Australia, America and Newfoundland.

Newfoundland's human name is Eleanor, after Eleanor of Aquitaine, wife of King Henry II of England, who ruled from 1154-1189.

Eleanor of Aquitaine was an extraordinary woman. Not only did she live to roughly eighty-two (during the Middle Ages when live expectancies were like half that) she also gave birth to ten children, nine of whom lived to adulthood.

At the age of roughly fifteen, she was married to the prince of France, who was soon crowned King Louis VII of France. She later divorced him (again during the Middle Ages!) and married Henry II of England.

Two of her sons went on to rule England; Richard (ruled: 1189-1199), who is better known as Richard the Lionheart and John (ruled: 1199-1216) who is famous as the villain Prince John in the Robin Hood stories.

The rest of her children went on to either rule duchies or small kingdoms (in the case of her sons) or married into other royal families (in the case of her daughters).

In case you can't tell, I am a massive Eleanor of Aquitaine fan.

America's human name is Alfred, and I'm pretty sure that he was named after Alfred the Great (BTW, Alfred the Great is the only known English king to be given the title "the Great", which just tells you how much the English liked him).

However, when Alfred was king, England was divided into four kingdoms: Wessex (which Alfred ruled) Northumbria, East Anglia and Mercia.

Though he is often credited with the prevention of the Viking invasion, he never removed them entirely. He was also the one to come up with the practise of "Danegeld" which was basically a medieval protection racket. They paid the Vikings, and the Vikings didn't conquer them.

It was actually Alfred's grandson, Athelstan, who got rid of the Vikings and the Welsh and the Scots. For the first time, England was one kingdom.

Australia's human name is Elizabeth Jane Kirkland, and I will go over the meaning of that in a later chapter. For now, feel free to guess in a review who she's named after!

Lots of Love, Lady of Goblins.

P.S, I'm really sorry for not updating on time. The device I have the story saved on was taken so I couldn't access it.
