Chapter 01: Another Gamer in the Multiverse
Floating around in a void for eternity really wasn't what I expected the afterlife to be like.
I really didn't expect to die, I mean sure, I was walking into a shadowy alley, and maybe I pissed a couple of criminals off, but murdering me was a slight overreaction. At least I took a couple of those bastards down with me.
Ah well, nothing I can do about it now still, this is going to drive me more insane than I already am, or is that was? Eh, who cares. Still, I wish there was at least SOMETHING to do other than float here.
Congratulations! Out of trillions of departed souls you have been chosen to become the next Gamer of the Multiverse!
Alright… so apparently I'm either going insane or something actually heard my wish.. I don't know what's worse. Either way floating here doing nothing isn't really helpful so I might as well go along with it, can't be worse than here right?
Tapping the blue box in front of me I watch as it disappears and brings up a menu in front of me.

'Well this is seriously lacking in choices' I think to myself before tapping on the Settings button. The previous menu disappeared and popped up with a new one giving me the options for controls, sounds, and visuals. Tapping on controls I switched the system from touched based to thought based so I didn't have to start swiping the air like a madman.
Backing out of the controls menu I switched to sounds wondering if there was anything useful in there. After looking around for some time other than lowering some deafening sounds it wasn't really useful other than finding out what being deaf felt like, which wasn't very pleasant.
After finding out that the sounds weren't really helpful I finally looked into visuals. There were many options, from changing the text box to seeing the world like it was a cartoon. After looking around some I ended up finding options for Notifications and set it up to Do Not Disturb during combat so I don't have to deal with that crap.
After setting up everything the way I wanted I entered the character creator to see what exactly it does. A large amount of menus popped up with everything from hairstyles to the levels of fat on my body. After some searching around I changed my hair from brown to black and my eye color from hazel to golden. Looking around some more I ended up getting a blue tribal tattoo wrapped around my left arm.
Figuring that I'd stalled enough I finally clicked on New Game. A loading screen popped up while some vaguely familiar music started playing in the background. After what felt like a couple of minutes a menu appeared.

[Akame ga Kill, Fate, Highschool DxD, Rosario + Vampire, RWBY]
Alright.. so not going to Highschool DxD first, the girls there are hot, but really don't want to deal with everybody being so overpowered, Rosario + Vampire sounds good, but without plot armor, probably a bad idea since I dont want to mess with the S-Class Monsters.
Fate follows the same issue, I don't want to deal with Type-Moon or someone like the True Ancestors.
Akame ga Kill is out due to the lack of information as well. I remember hearing about there being a light novel or something like that while I was alive but I never got around to reading it.
That leaves RWBY, a world with a soul-stealing wizard, literal monsters in the dark, and two gods who had enough of humanity and ditched them. This probably isn't my best decision, but ever since I watched the show I wanted to go. The fact that my two favorite waifus Neo and Ruby are there isn't affected my decision at all.
Locking in my decision a new menu pops up informing me I have 1000 credits to spend on things and that any credits left will be voided. After looking at the list for some time I ended up picking the ones I believe could help the most in the end.

Boosted Growth was a definite because I need a way to level up quickly. There are too many things in that world that are way too dangerous to me. Greater Capacity is good due to the whole soul shield thing with Aura. I figure it'd be good to have in case I ever run into something I need a lot of power for.
Legendary Familiar and Legendary Semblance are a gamble because I don't know what exactly constitutes as Legendary. Either way, I figure that it's something good and I'd rather have one of those than a boost to my stats that I'd gain from training anyway.
After confirming my choices a menu pops up asking me if I want to participate in a lottery to gain perks. Figuring my luck was good while I was alive up until I died I decided to give it a go.

Wow… the Weapon Master alone would've been good, but the Sharingan blows it out of the park. Able to copy any skills while active? Does that include things such as semblances? What about magic or fighting styles? This could be the most overpowered thing I can get. The Sin of Greed is bad, but it could be much worse. I think I'm going to spin again. If I can get anything this could be overpowered as all hell.

Huh… the two blessings are good. Not sure exactly how the silver eyes and Sharingan together would work, but we'll see. The Grimm control is cool, but I can't use it around Ozpin or he's going to think I'm associated with Salem. Wizard allows me to use magic and gains a 50% increase to all magic damage, so not bad.
The Blessing of Aphrodite isn't the greatest perk, but I won't say no to it either, anything that allows me to gain waifus faster is more than welcome in my book.
The Mark of Cthulhu I'm not sure it's a good thing. Blessing of Cthulhu gives a boost to INT and END and allows me to turn into an Elder God .. so that's good I guess. Dark Presence basically causes light associated creatures to feel wary in my presence and dark creatures to thrive. It's bad because it affects rep gains with light related creatures which I'm assuming means people like Ruby and Ozpin.
The Race change was really unexpected… Apparently, it gives me the ability to use light magic and dark magic which is interesting as I thought they were still technically light related beings. The problem is the Enemy of Heaven and Enemy of Hell thing. Basically, it means anybody from Heaven or Hell will have -20 Rep or Affection when I meet them and decreases all Rep and Affection gains by half.
I figure I've got the best I'm going to get from this, I've gotten pretty lucky so far but how knows how long that'll hold up.
Continuing on it asks me if I want to import my skills from my previous life, figuring it couldn't hurt I said yes.

Well… that's really unexpected. I only ever did martial arts for a month so it's not really too odd it's not great. The one-handed sword thing I can only assume comes from that edgy phase where I was using a yardstick pretending to be Kirito… I really don't know what I was thinking to be honest. Hacking I'm kind of confused about. It might be from that phase where I kept trying to mod single player games when I was younger, but I don't know.
Ki Control is something I'm really confused about. Sure I felt some sort of weird feeling flowing through my body whenever I focused, but I always thought it was because I wanted to use magic and my brain was just trying to trick me.
Blessing of Bast and Vampiric Gift is something I'm really confused about. For one thing, I don't understand. For one thing, while I've always appreciated cats, the only one I was ever in contact with was my younger cousin's one. As for vampires I have no idea where I would've met one, much less how I got blessed.
Sin of Sloth isn't unexpected, I was extremely lazy in life and rarely did anything unless it was important. I still remember the days I would lay around in bed with my eyes shut and just sit there for hours.
Sin of Lust and the Minor Sin of Pride aren't odd. I always was really horny and generally thought I was better than most people. Needless to say, most people didn't exactly find me pleasant.
Ah, my old friend Insomnia… There were so many nights I just layed around trying to sleep, only to fail and just stay awake all night. There was a reason I was never able to fix my sleep schedule.
After transferring the skills, it asked me to enter a name. After thinking about it for a few minutes I decided on Shawn Westwood. When I confirmed the name the void around me started growing brighter and brighter until I passed out.
