"We've got you now, Spiderman!" Doc Ock bellowed as he swung another of his mechanical arms at him. "We outnumber you ten thousand to one!"
"Aw, you didn't have to bring all your friends to a party for me, Ocky!" Spidey said, swinging around Doc Ock's head like an annoying gnat. He landed a blow that nearly knocked Doc Ock off his feet.
"The party has just begun, the Spider has started to run! The Goblin's here, instilling fear, and squashing the Spider for fun!" The Goblin said, zooming down towards Spiderman's head on his glider, knives extended. Spiderman ducked as he zoomed overhead, missing Spidey by inches.
"Whoo! That was a close cut. I said I only wanted the bangs trimmed!" Spiderman joked, nimbly jumping up and pulling Gobby of his glider with his web.
"There's plenty of bang to go around, don't worry." Electro said, charging up several attacks. "In fact, it's rather shocking!"
Spiderman began performing acrobatic feats as he began dodging the electric blasts from Electro, whose bolts flew straight into Doc Ock's mechanical arms.
"Nooooooo!" Doc Ock shouted, as his arms short-circuited. "You fool!"
The heavy metal of Doc Ock's arms fell upon a slowly rising figure behind him, smashing straight through the figure's center. The man began reforming, a little to the left of the fallen robot arm.
"Ock, you've gotta watch out where you swing those things." Sandman said, rising and forming, sand swirling around his legs. "You collapsed me!"
"I can't control them any longer, imbecile!" Doc Ock said, beginning to engage Sandman. The robotic arms were pretty much useless, but that didn't stop Doc Ock from not knowing when to quit. Sandman and Doc Ock began going at it, while Electro tried to pry them apart long enough to remember to fight Spiderman.
Spiderman, meanwhile, was going after the Goblin. He shot a strand of web, which attached to Goblin's back, but Goblin performed an aerial maneuver with his glider that slit the webbing off his back.
"Ock, c'mon! The Spider's beginning to get the better of Goblin!" Electro said, putting a hand on Doc Ock and Sandman. Though unintentional, a large electrical shock blasted through both of them, throwing Doc Ock backwards fifteen feet, and turning Sandman's form back into vapor. Both of the villains turned on Electro.
"That does it, battery-boy!" Doc Ock says, stepping up to Electro. Sandman began to advance as well, while Electro held out his hands.
"Battery-Boy! I've gotta remember that one." Spiderman said, as he kicked Goblin off the glider. He quickly webbed Goblin to the street, and turned to the other three villains. "Say nighty-night, guys!"
The villains turned to see Spiderman about to cover them in webs. But Electro was faster. Making sure not to hit the other two villains, he shot his hand out, between Doc Ock and Sandman's heads, and out blasted a ball of crackling electricity. It hit Spiderman at point blank, who was still thinking about the new nickname of "Battery-Boy" for Electro. He laid on the ground, groaning as he tried to quickly regain his senses. Electro, Sandman, and Doc Ock stood menacingly over him, about to crush him under their combined strength.
Before they could, however, a voice was heard.
"Excuse me," Iron Man said, landing nearby, "Did you guys realize what time it is?"
Doc Ock, Spiderman, Goblin, Sandman, and Electro all looked at their watches at the same time.
"Good grief, it's already three? The time flies!" Doc Ock said, helping Spiderman to his feet. Spiderman went over and began cutting Goblin out of the webbing, and helping him up.
"Nice kick, Spiderman." Goblin joked, rubbing his head. "I'm going to need an ice-pack after this."
"Yeah, your guys' shift is up. We've scheduled for the Avengers to be fighting a giant, indestructible hamster next that could end the world." Iron Man clarified. Electro's eyebrows rose.
"Wow. That hamster bit again?" he said. "Okay, but I'm not cleaning up after you guys again. Left the city in shambles."
"I know, but we've gotta pick up where we left off. Giant hamster should be here any minute for rehearsal, then we can tear the city apart in an orderly fashion." Iron Man said. "Don't worry."
Sandman walked over. "I thought the X-men had the next shift for Manhattan. Did they have to cancel?"
"Yeah, we had to pencil them in for use of Manhattan for next week at four." Iron Man said. A large thumping was heard behind him, as Hulk walked up, sipping a very large cappuccino. Spiderman walked over, having donned an overcoat and a hat.
"So, you guys have a plan yet?" he said, hands in the coat's pockets.
"Nah, not yet. Vision says that he'll magically conjure a brilliant plan when all hope is lost, but so did Hawkeye. We've got a little pool going on to see who gets it first."
Hulk sighed behind him. "Hulk put money on Vision. Easy win." He turned, making sure the other Avengers were following. Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, and Electro were also donning coats and hats.
"Have a good afternoon, guys!" Iron Man said, waving. The villains and Spiderman waved back as they began to walk off.
"Hey, Gobby!" Hawkeye shouted, "Tell the Missus I said hi!"
Goblin gave Hawkeye a thumbs-up before running to catch up with the other heroes.
The Avengers each turned to the other, shedding what coats they brought.
"Hey Hulk, you coming to Spidey's party tonight?" Captain America said, making sure his shield was shiny and glistening with a new coat of paint.
"Nah. Hulk read. Finish War and Peace tonight." Hulk thundered, stretching.
"So, whenever you guys are ready, Hammy says he's in place." Iron Man said, turning off a little radio and tossing it into the pile of coats.
The Avengers walked out into the street, and struck a dramatic fighting pose. They waited for a moment, before the others turned to look at Hawkeye.
"Hawkeye, it's your turn to clock in, remember?" Black Widow said. Hawkeye turned and walked over to the pile of coats, picked up a small scanner, and scanned a keycard. The screen beeped and read, Avengers: Battle with hamster part 2 has begun
Hawkeye walked back to the street and struck his pose again. This time, there was a giant, horrifying squeaking sound as the giant hamster began its rampage through the city. All at once, the Avengers leapt forward, destroying all the minions in their path, as they made their way to the giant hamster. From the corner that the last shift of heroes had come, Venom came around the corner. Seeing the Avengers fighting, he kicked at the ground.
"Aw, maaan… I missed it again." Venom said. He reached down and sighed, grabbing the small handheld device Hawkeye had used, punched in a number, and walked away while the device beeped. Venom is now off-duty.
