Light woke up earlier the next day, feeling a bit better. He could have made an early start to the day if not for L, who found cuddling with him was so comfortable and was not willing to let go until absolutely necessary.

"The sun's not even up yet, Raito-kun" he mumbled while locking him into an unmoveable position. "Just let me have you for a few more minutes"

"We haven't done any work for too long, Ryuuzaki" Light insisted. "I don't want to be the one holding up the case"

"It's fine to let them discover something sometimes" L still would not let go. "You just got back from sickness, there's no point if you get sick again"

"I won't I promise"

"How many promises have you made since you got here"

"I thought you were keeping track?"

"Oh, stop arguing, Raito-kun", he held on tighter. "Let Matsuda have his day in the sun. Besides, we haven't got any leads now."

"Are you hearing yourself right now? Seriously!"

"I told Watari to give us another day off. I think you need it, Raito-kun" L admitted. "I think it would be better to find leads somewhere, and not just be stuck here at the cost of our mental health."

"Oh, so that somehow became important to you now?"

"I am serious, Raito-kun" L replied. "You need it more than anyone else here. I don't want you to have another mental breakdown"

Light was quiet for a moment.

"Alright, but just for a few minutes"

L smiled as he snuggled on Light's neck.

"Thank you, Light" as he hugged tighter.

Light was just happy that L could not see him go as red as was possible.

"Are you planning on anything other than just lying here?" Light asked after a few minutes.

"Well, we could if this is what you want" L offered. "But we can also go on other places. Whatever you want, Raito-kun."

"What do you mean?"

"I want today to be our second date" L clarified. "Seeing that I ruined your date with Amane-san, I want to make it up to you today"

"Oh, that's so sweet" Light said sarcastically.

"I am being serious, Raito-kun" L insisted. "Anywhere you want to go, we can go. I can fly a helicopter, you know"

"Oh, really"

"I'm not just saying that to sound impressive, you know. I can actually fly one. I asked Watari to teach me" L assured.

"But are you sure you can handle it this time? You almost immediately gave up when we were just shopping"

"I think I can manage today, Raito-kun"

Light thought about it for a moment.

"Well, I guess Kyoto would be beautiful today with the autumn foilage" Light pondered. "I haven't been able to join the class trip because of this investigation"

"Great!" L jumped out of the bed and prepared for an hour of Raito's morning rituals.

It wasn't as long as before, maybe he was getting used to it, or he was just looking forward to the day that he didn't notice.

"Here", Light handed him a set of clothes.

"What is this, Raito-kun"

"I bought this for you when I was shopping for clothes." Light admitted. "But I got mad at you so I wasn't able to give it before."

L inspected it for a while.

"You'll look good on it, I promise. Besides, it's gonna match my outfit too"

"Fine, but just for this day"

"Oh, you might need this too" Light added, and gave him a mask.

L looked puzzled.

"So that we can ignore those people staring at us" Light gave him a smile as he wore a mask as well. "That way we can still wear these cuffs on and people will just dismiss us for being weird."

L laughed.

"That is actually a good idea, Raito-kun" he acknowledged as he put his mask on.

They managed to beat the morning tourist crowd by just an hour, but it was a precious hour nonetheless. They ate by the nearby lake, and took a few pictures without anyone in the background.

By the time the tourists started packing the streets, it all just felt natural that they barely noticed anyone looking at them for being chained together. They didn't get into too much trouble, as most people dismissed them for being weird tourists anyway.

When the crowd was too much for L to handle, Light quickly found a nearby teashop with a beautiful garden inside.

"I asked the people here if I can buy out the place for a few hours" Light told him warily. "I hope you don't mind how much it cost but it would give us some alone time"

"That is the second great idea you have today, Raito-kun" L praised him. "And also very sweet"

The shop owner personally asked if they want to experience an authentic tea ceremony experience, and they happily obliged. After that they asked for a few more hours in the shop. L must have added a small fortune in tips for them to treat them like celebrity like that. Light felt really happy.

"You're right" he told L. "I think I need this break after all"

L grinned at him, but resisted the urge to say 'I told you so'.

"I could not blame you. The garden here is beautiful"

"Everything so far is beautiful" Light added.

"So I can assume that this is better than our first date then?"

"It's better than all of our dates" Light laughed a lot.

"I will not argue with that, Raito-kun", L joked. "To be fair I kind of set the bar low for it"

"Yeah, that's right" Light didn't deny it.

"I'm sorry for being such a cheap boyfriend, Raito-kun"

"Well, at least make an effort from now on" Light grinned and pecked him on the cheek.

"Understood, let me make it up to you" L played along. "Do you want to dress up in a kimono?"

Light's face was enough confirmation to go through the plan. It did not take a while to find one that rents one out for a day. Light helped him pick one out for him, and proceeded to get himself a matching one. Originally they planned on just renting it out however as soon as L saw Light in his kimono he couldn't help but buy the whole thing. The shop owners were surprised at first but was willing to make the sale. Of course they still had to wear masks, so L could be comfortable walking around.

They toured the streets while visiting a shrine here and there. L teased Light what he was praying for a couple of times, but he would get a disapproving look every time.

"Do you want to try fortune telling lottery, L?" Light asked.

"That is pointless if you don't believe it…." L reconsidered. "But sure, I think that would be interesting"

They paid a few coins on the box and each of them pulled a piece of paper on the box. Light noted the number and went to get their fortune corresponding to the number they pulled.

"Interesting", Light said as he gave L's fortune. "We have the same prediction"

"It looks like our hearts are matching after all, Raito-kun."

"You said you don't believe in these things just a while ago" Light teased back. "But it says that a major change is about to happen soon. Do you think this just means that we might have a breakthrough for the Kira investigation?"

L found this newly discovered side of Light interesting.

"Maybe young girls would agree with Raito-kun" L joked but quickly got back with "But let's forget about the Kira case for now. This is such a beautiful day and we should enjoy it."

"Oh, do you want to do that couples' challenge?" Light suddenly suggested. "I think it is here in this shrine"

"What kind of challenge is it?"

"There's this rock here that if you touch while blindfolded, you would get eternal happiness in love"

Not wanting to argue, L decided to humor the boy.

"Sure, that would be fun"

Light led him to the alleged rock, and looked for something to blindfold L with.

"I'm gonna be the one to tell you the directions, while you walk blindfolded." Light explained. "Oh, you have to unlock us first"

He showed the cuffs for L to unlock.

L did not think about it too much, but was a bit startled when he was first blindfolded.

"Okay, just walk straight to my voice"

L shuffled his feet slowly, trying to figure out the direction of Light's voice.

"Oh, you're going too far left. Go right"

A couple of minutes of struggle later, L managed to touch what was feels undoubtedly like a rock.

"I did it, Raito-kun!" L sighed a relief. However, he could not hear any more encouraging words from Light. Panicking a little, he took off his blindfold and looked around the whole surroundings. There was no sign of Light anywhere, and he just realised that the place was too crowded for his taste.

"Light!" he shouted.

He was starting to feel like a fool for being tricked into doing this, when someone patted his back.

"Congratulations!" it was Light. "This is your reward!"

Light handed him a very large serving of ice cream.

"Sorry for making you a bit worried, L" Light laughed as he saw how drained the look on L's face was when he saw him missing. "I had to run for a while and buy it from that kid over there. I figured you might like a reward"

L looked like he was about to cry.

"Don't do that to me again, Raito-kun"

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry" Light half laughed as he tried to comfort the detective.

"Just for that, I'm not going to share my ice cream with you, Raito-kun"

"Sure, L"

L finished eating his ice cream in about a minute. They wore the cuffs again.

Light wondered if he went too far, but L sensed it and held his hands.

"I'm not angry, Light" he admitted. "That was actually very sweet of you. If we were on different circumstances I wouldn't have been as worried."

"Oh…I was starting to think you were angry"

"It has been a long day" L admitted. "Do you want to eat somewhere?"

"Sure" Light answered a bit relieved. "Why don't we rent out a ryokan?"

L smiled.

"Absolutely"

They asked around and eventually found a traditional style ryokan on the outskirts of town. The people were nice and prepared them an early dinner. Light asked them to make it a simple meal given the fact that L had bad food preferences anyway and he himself could only eat as much, and didn't want to see any food go to waste. They agreed and once they finished their meal, they agreed to leave them alone and have the place all to themselves.

"I can't believe how hospitable everyone here is" L observed.

"Well, it did help that we were giving generous tips. I know how awkward you can get with other people, so I didn't want you to deal with it unless absolutely necessary"

"You are so thoughtful, Light" L traced a finger on Light's face, and played with his hair a bit.

They started to kiss, but Light stopped him after a while.

"Do it properly this time, L" he said seductively.

L got the hint and led Light to the bedroom.

"As you wish, Light"

They started kissing again when they reached the bedroom. L started loosening Light's clothes, and touched his bare chest. Light gasped, and did the same. They kept on with this for a few minutes, hands freely exploring each other's body.

Soon, the clothes were on the floor as they continued. They sat for a moment, catching each other's breaths. Light smiled.

"Can I do it this time, L?"

L gulped, but nodded in agreement. Light smiled again and proceeded to go down on him, kissing him as he went south. He started stroking L's length, already hard and erect. Soon, he proceeded to lick it, and took it in his mouth, sucking enthusiastically. L watched him as he did it, resisting the urge to push the teen's head. Instead, he played with Light's hair, trying to keep it together as he felt the effects that Light's tongue had on him.

"Ah…." He started moaning, softly at first. Light repeated the motions, figuring out that L was enjoying what he was doing. He changed things up a little, taking into account L's reactions.

"Ahh…Light", he was enjoying every second of it. "I'm about to…Light…stop…"

Light didn't stop. If anything, he sucked harder after that. L came shortly after. Light smiled again as he swallowed everything, then proceeded to kiss L.

"You are so sly, Light", L said in a deep voice as he played with his hair a bit more.

"But now it's my turn"

He let the teen lay down in the bed, and L started kissing every inch of his body he can reach. His nipples instantly grew hard as soon as he pinched it, and Light let out a small gasp.

"Ahhh…" Light moaned as L proceeded licking down, to return the favour. He clutched desperately on the blankets as L caressed his dick. "L…"

Then, he started playing with his hole, and slowly slid a finger.

Soon, the fingers were replaced by L himself. He took a moment for Light to acknowledge it, who instinctively grabbed L's neck and held him in an embrace. He started moving, slowly at first, kissing Light as the teen responded back, tightening his grip on him. He moved faster, and kept up with the pace. At that moment all they could really feel was each other, their voices no longer restrained as they were filled with emotion and the heat of the moment.

They called each other's name just as they climaxed, holding on to each other for support.

L buried his face on Light's neck shortly after, wanting to take more of Light's scent. Light turned to face him. They were completely flushed, but he could not help but put an arm around him. He embraced back. They gave each other one last kiss as they drifted to sleep.
