Chapter 8
Ginny
As she lay in her bed she thought about Harry. This could not be happening to her again. She'd had the biggest crush on him in her first year when she'd been possessed by Voldemort and all that. She was supposed to be over him, sure she wasn't dating Dean anymore so she was available. But it wasn't like Harry would even want to date her. He had enough to deal with, Snape and Voldemort, why did she have to be cursed to like boys who would never like her back? She wanted to scream into her pillow. How could she even be thinking about Harry when he'd literally found out that the greasy old dungeon git who hated his guts was his dad? She still couldn't believe it, she was actually rather surprised that Harry hadn't thrown a fit. If Snape had been her dad… Ew. EW. Why was she even thinking about this? Her life was much too interesting. She tossed and turned all night and when it was finally an acceptable hour to get out of bed she realized that she looked like absolute crap. Her hair was frizzy and sticking up at odd angles and her eyes had bags, there was also a bit of dried drool on the side of her cheek. She'd barely slept, when had she had time to drool? She pulled her hair into a messy ponytail and hurried down for breakfast. Today was Friday thank God. She was so hungry. Hermione and Ron were nowhere in sight. But Harry was there, so were Luna and Neville. It was probably best that she wasn't alone with Harry, her thoughts would go places they weren't supposed to.
"Hey Ginny." said Harry.
"Hey." She slid into a seat next to Luna.
"Morning Luna, Neville." she said, seizing some toast and smothering jam on it.
"Morning." said Luna dreamily. Neville nodded at her. She busied herself shoving toast in her mouth while doing her best not to look like Ron. Soon Hermione came down and asked Harry,
"What did Dumbledore want?" Ginny had completely forgotten about that, she'd been much too busy thinking about… Bad brain. Bad bad brain. She told herself. She was not going down this rabbit hole again, especially when he was right in front of her. She wondered if someone could tell when you were thinking about them. She wondered if Harry ever thought of her. It was pointless, completely pointless, to control her stupid brain.
"He wants me to do some sort of lessons with him about…" Harry looked around to make sure no one was listening. "Voldemort. And he wants me to get something from this ex professor."
Hermione put her chin in her hand thoughtfully.
"I wish I could be there." She probably meant the lessons. Harry smiled and glanced over at Ginny.
"Do you know when quidditch tryouts are?" he asked her.
"Uh… No." Way to sound intelligent Ginny. "But Angelina is probably gonna tell us next week."
He nodded, "Thanks."
"Yep." She wanted to find a way to make this conversation last forever. Soon after she had to go to History of Magic, ew. She would much rather go to History of Harry. Her brain was so so so so bad.
Hermione
She'd gotten detention. Again. And it was with Draco. As much as she would've liked to blame it on Draco this time, she couldn't. Nope this had been completely her fault. She'd dragged him into a broom closet. A broom closet! He had gotten the book from the library that morning and well, she got a little over excited. She didn't want anyone else to see what the book was called so she had dragged Draco into a broom closet so no one could spy on them. She was well aware it must have looked really dirty but she really hadn't cared at the moment. She was beyond excited to perform this spell. Why she'd decided to take Draco with her… she'd just have to contemplate that later. And Snape must have seen them. Snape had seen her drag Draco into a broom closet. Of all the things that could've happened, she'd gotten detention for skipping class to go into a broom closet with a boy. She wanted to shove her head through a wall. Two detentions in one week was two too many. She wasn't particularly sorry that she'd gotten detention with Draco however. She would just have to put the spell off until later. At lunch she told Harry and Ginny,
"We can't do it tonight." she said.
"Why?" asked Ginny, raising an eyebrow.
She blushed a little. "I got detention."
"With me." said Draco flinging himself next to her and glaring.
Harry and Ginny looked at each other and burst out laughing. Hermione turned even redder.
"She dragged me into a broom closet." Draco said, looking annoyed.
"She did not." wheezed Ginny holding her stomach. Harry had tears dripping out of his eyes he was laughing so hard.
"Oh shut up. And don't flatter yourself Malfoy." Now it was Draco's turn to blush.
"Well Ginny and I don't need you to start." said Harry. "Right?" he looked at Ginny. Hermione opened her mouth to object but Ginny looked ecstatic.
"Yeah!" She looked at Hermione with pleading eyes.
"Oh whatever." she said. "I guess you can start without us."
"What do we need to do?" asked Harry. "And what are we doing exactly?"
"Here I wrote it all down." She rummaged in her bag and handed Harry a piece of parchment with what they were going to do.
1st use reflectortus (allows us to see what happened inside the letter. So we'll know if it's real.)
2nd make releasi potion so we can test Harry and Snape's blood.
3rd make a plan to get Snape's blood without getting detention.
Carry on from there.
Once Harry had finished reading he handed it to Ginny.
"Uh, we'll do step one. And step three. We can do step two with you guys."
"Because you're rubbish at potions." said Malfoy grinning.
"I don't want to explode Ginny on accident." Then Harry turned tomato red. Oh no. Harry was in love with Ginny. Was Ginny still in love with him? Ginny was still reading and looked up.
"Wait what."
"Nothing!" said Harry, his voice cracking a little. That's why Harry wanted to start. So he could be alone with Ginny. Ginny looked pretty excited about it to be honest.
"Okay. Tell me everything tomorrow." said Hermione.
"And me." muttered Draco. "I got detention twice for you guys after all." Hermione supposed that was true, but she thought it best to put as much distance between her and Draco as possible. Lord knows what she would when he was around.
"What do you think Snape is gonna have us do this time Granger?" asked Draco, peering at her with his silver eyes. "Scrub toilets with no magic?"
"No idea." Hermione sniffed.
"Now you have to give me more than that. You are the reason we're going to detention after all." Draco drawled.
"Well, I don't know!" she said, getting more and more flustered by the second.
"What's going on?" It was Ron. Ron was talking to them and not trapazing about with his secret girlfriend. Wow.
"Pansy got bored with you?" said Ginny. Immediately she clapped a hand over her mouth. Pansy? Why would Ron want to date Pansy? Although she wasn't in a position to judge.
"How'd you know?" asked Ron, looking horrified.
"I saw you." Ginny squeaked.
"You saw us… talking?" Ron said hopefully.
"Snogging." Ginny said. "And I'm scarred for life."
"Oh uh well. I'm sorry 'bout that Malfoy. With her being your girlfriend and all." said Ron.
Draco just shrugged. "I've wanted to break up with her for ages, you can have her."
So Draco was available now. Hermione ought to go do some intense studying so she could get Draco Malfoy off her mind.
Harry
He really could care less about Voldemort at the moment. Yes yes, the prophecy. But he had other things to worry about. Like Snape and Ginny. However at the moment his priority was Ginny. He didn't really want to think about Snape anyway. Although that would be inevitable tonight. Just leave it to bloody old Professor Snape to go ruining his night with Ginny. Maybe tonight he would make a move. How did one go about making moves anyway? He would just have to figure it out by tonight. He thought about it in transfiguration, and in DADA. And before dinner. After dinner he was going to be alone with Ginny. Bloody hell. Should he fix his hair? Change out of his robes? His school clothes were much nicer than Dudley's old clothes but… He didn't want to seem weird. He usually changed out of his robes at the end of the day into his pajamas. And he certainly wasn't going to go let Ginny see him in his fraying pajamas! You could probably see his underwear through them. After dinner he told Ginny to meet him in the Gryffindor common room in half an hour and he ran up to his dorm and did his best to look presentable. He brushed his hair, and decided to make it look sloppy on purpose because Hermione had told him once that guys with messy hair were hot. That was when they were 14 but he needed every bit of advice he could get. He chose the least ripped and baggy jeans he could find and a sweater that only had one small hole on the side that wasn't noticeable at all really. He even brushed his teeth. In case they, you know, kissed. Which probably wasn't going to happen because he still hadn't figured out how to make a move. He really should've asked Hermione but she probably wasn't the best person to go to on love advice. He hurried down to the common room to find Ginny already there. Was he late? He glanced at the clock. No, she was just early.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Yeah." He said and held up the book.
"Let's go then," said Ginny. Together they walked to Myrtle's bathroom to uncover whatever the letter was hiding.
Snape
He needed to find the letter, who had it? Who would go through his desk looking for it? Someone who must have already known. It was probably Dumbledore. He could never keep to himself. Everyone's business was Dumbledore's business. Snape groaned and gave up on grading the first year's tests. They were hopeless. He put his head in his hands. He had to get that letter back. He hadn't had time to run any tests on it since he got back to Hogwarts and he really needed to. He wanted the letter to be forged. He did not want Harry bloody Potter to be his, his son! If he was… What would he do? He certainly couldn't tell him, the boy would throw a fit. Probably never speak to him again. So it was for the best that he didn't know. At least that's what he told himself as he furiously continued the search for his letter. Perhaps he should go up to the old dimbo's office and rifle through a few of his things to see if he could find the letter.
No, the headmaster probably slept with it in his bed, he had a multitude of odd habits. Damn. He'd forgotten about Draco's and Granger's detention. He hadn't even thought about what to have them do. He glanced at the ungraded first year tests. The handwriting was nearly eligible on some, and the grammar… perfect. Perhaps Ms. Granger would cry and Draco would comfort her, that would be interesting. Get his mind off things.
A/N It's me again! Don't leave before answering the question, I believe in you guys ;)
