Sitting up in bed the next morning Maggie yawned widely, running her hand through her hair she grinned when an arm moved under the back of her shirt

"Come back to bed" he mumbled against the pillow

"PJ I promised Dad I'd be there by lunch" she laughed when he pulled her back towards him

"It's seven am" he snuggled his head into her neck

"Exactly and by the time I shower, pack, eat" she bit her lip when he began kissing along her neck

"We could save time by showering together" he grinned against her neck

"PJ…" she moaned when his hand began running under the front of her shirt

"Do you really have to go?" he rested back against the pillow

"No but I need some time away from everything, away from.."

"Me?"

"Of course not, even if you do my head in most days I can't imagine not seeing you everyday" she turned her head to face her him

"You will come back though won't you?" he brushed his hand through her hair

"Afraid you won't cope without me Detective?" she teased placing her hand against his cheek

"I'm serious Mags, how do I know that even after everything you won't decide to run"

"I…"

"Can you promise me right here, right now that you'll come back?"

"PJ.." she shook her head moving out of the bed

"It's a simple question Maggie, a yes or no answer"

"How can I promise you something that I don't know myself?"

"If given the chance you'd run, you'd run and not come back?" he arose from the bed

"I don't want to discuss it"

"Yeah.." he sighed pulling on his pants

"Where are you going?" she watched him pull his shirt on

"I'm on earlies and you have to pack" he picked up his shoes

"If you just let me explain.." she placed a hand on his chest stopping him near the door

"Drive safe" he moved in kissing her cheek lightly

"Don't leave like this please"

"Say hi to your Dad for me" he shifted aside

"PJ.." she watched him sadly exit out the bedroom and towards the front door,

hearing it open and close a few moments later.

Entering the station an hour later PJ let the door slam behind him

"PJ?" Ben questioned

"I'm not in the mood" he moved behind the bench

"Don't you have the day off?"

"Back off"

"What's your problem?"

"Nothing" he huffed signing into the book

"PJ.." he placed a hand on his arm

"Ben just drop it okay" he shrugged him off before making his way into his office and closing the door,

"Was that PJ?" Tom exited from his office

"Ah yeah, something up with him though"

"You got those case notes?" he stopped next to his desk

"All done" Ben passed him the pile,

watching him with a weary look when he walked towards PJ's office.

"Get out of the wrong side of the bed?" Tom closed the door behind him

"Sorry?"

"Ben, you practically bit his head off out there" he sat down in Maggies usual chair

"Yeah well it's just not my morning is it" he turned his chair around to face him

"Its about to get worse" Tom placed the pile of files on the desk

"What can be worse than Maggie potentially not coming back"

"What?"

"What?"

"I asked first" Tom raised an eyebrow

"We had another fight, all I wanted to know was if she'd come back" he shrugged

"And I take it the answer she gave you wasn't one you wanted to hear?"

"She didn't give me an answer, just a 'I don't know'"

"Then I don't see the problem"

"Boss, Maggie dosen't want to be here, with me in Mount Thomas it's too hard for her and I guess after this morning I can finally see that" he sighed

"So what are you saying?"

"Maybe it's time to let her move on, if she's not happy…"

"PJ, Doyle loves you"

"But she dosen't love me enough to stay in Mount Thomas and I don't want her to be stuck here because of my own selfish needs"

"So that's it, because of a stupid argument your going to end things?"

"What's the difference from what she did to me the other day" he argued

"Ah she came back? She'll always come back PJ its you"

"Boss…"

"You and Maggie are always fighting but you always make up and that won't change don't push her away just because your too worried she's going to hate you for it" he shook his head

"I've made up my mind"

"Have you told her this choice?"

"I made it pretty clear this morning when I stormed out"

"Bloody hell PJ" he huffed moving to stand

"What?"

"You and Doyle are just as stubborn as each other!" he pulled the door back "if you don't sort this out before she leaves your going to regret it and when she comes back your going to feel like an arsehole" he shook his head storming out of the office.

"Boss?" Ben cleared his throat

"What?" he snapped moving around the corner to see Maggie standing at the counter

"I take it your talk didn't go so well?" she gave him a sad look

"What exactly happened?" he stopped across from her

"Same as always"

"Ben can you boil the kettle?" Tom pulled open the gate for her to walk through

"Sure"

"So what happened?" Tom asked again entering his office with her

"He has it on some weird authority that the minute I get to Melbourne I won't come back" she hovered near the window

"And is it true?"

"Not you too Boss"

"I just need to know if I'm putting in a transfer request for a new member" he shrugged sitting behind his desk

"What did he say?" she turned to look at him

"Maggie.."

"Has he given up, fighting for us?"

"I really think you should be.."

"Please Boss, I just need to know If I've got something to come back for" she sighed moving to sit in the chair

"I don't want to get between the two of you" he shook his head

"What's their to get between, PJ made it pretty clear this morning where he stands" she picked up his member photo on his desk

"Why don't you just talk to him, explain that this morning was a misunderstanding"

"Their wouldn't be much point" she brushed her thumb across PJ's face

"So you're not coming back?" he shifted forward leaning his arms on the desk

"Dads not well, he needs me"

"He's sick?"

"He's not coping with Robbie's death pretty much drinking himself to ease the pain I need to be there for him"

"And what about you?"

"Me?" she placed the photo back down

"Yeah, how are you coping?"

"It hurts less then before" she cleared her throat moving back towards the window

"Maggie" he stood up and moved to stand next to her

"What hurts is having to leave him behind" she looked across at PJ who'd come out of his office and was talking with Ben

"Did you tell him about your Dad?" Tom placed a hand on her back

"I didn't get the chance"

"Are you going to tell him?"

"It's better this way, no heartbreaking goodbye or a begging me to stay" she turned to face him

"So we're losing you to the big city then?"

"I'm checking a few things out, depending how bad Dad is it's a possibility"

"Will you let me know when you arrive safe?" he pulled her into a hug

"Yeah, sure Boss" she sniffled patting his back "look I better go, traffic and all" she pulled away and moved towards the door

"Doyle"

"Yep?" she stopped with her hand on the door handle

"Talk to him, you'll regret it if you don't"

"Yeah.." she smiled sadly exiting his office,

closing the door behind her she stopped near the bench

"Mags.." his soft voice spoke giving him a sad look

she continued on her way exiting the station and ignoring him completely.
