The ride home was quiet, and he could tell she was worried. But what she did not relies was that he understood and was already ready to seal the bond. Getting the marks to touch would be the hard part seeing ad it was on her back and his in his hip. Basically, he would have to put his hip on the middle of her back and not in a fun sexy way. Not that they would be having sex right away I mean I love her, but I have way too much respect for her to rush into that. It was not long until we were at the apartment and Riley was even more unsteady.

"well, the pizza guys two blocks out and the chines is about to turn on the block. Do I get points for timing." She smiled and contemplated.

"depend you still have beer or do I need to go to my place and get it."

"no need ones already here and the other is about to be in two"

Watching her go I felt something I have not truly ever felt even with Amelia, peace. Quickly I got both takeout and was at her door only to here yelling. Before I could react, the door was flung open and Riley was standing there looking pissed. Calmly walking in I saw the problem her old partner. Nodding to him I put the food on the counter and got a beer.

"so, what did I miss in all of five minutes."

"nothing"

"I'm two seconds from shooting him"

"oh well you might want to leave because if she's shooting you then I will kill you. Your choice lives for another day or die"

"no, your choice in the last 48 hours I have found my actually soulmate. Then had to go on a protection detail of my soulmates worst nightmare where I did not get to even shoot the bastard dead and now come up here to talk to said soulmate only to find her ex-boyfriend /ex-partner in her apartment and she want to shoot you. So, leave or die because my trigger finger is feeling a little spastic."

To the man's credit he put it all together quickly but still did not leave guess I will be killing tonight.

"leave now." She growled out as I put my now empty beer down to stand by her.

I saw red and broke his nose

Grabbing his nose, he ran out leaving us alone. Riley went to the refrigerator and grabbed two more beers handing me one then looking at my hand. When she was satisfied that my knuckles were only red, she sat on the counter by the food.

"so, what happened?"

"he was at my door when I came up talking to the door. I guess he thought I was in there. Anyway, before I could turn around, he saw me started talking about getting to getter and about he made a huge mistake in are partnership. You showed up as I was telling him to leave before you killed him." Leaning on the counter beside her I touched my bottle to hers and we drank.

"anything else going to happen or can we have a normal night for once"

"you do realize are normal is getting blowen up or shot at"

"ok so quite night where we drink eat and have that talk were, we agree to we recognize were soulmates but not jump straight into moving in and kids."

"deal! So, you're not mad?"

"no, I know why you didn't tell me. I spent the previous night rendering trying to figure out how I missed not figuring it out. But seeing as my mark is a compass star with the letter N at the top it didn't really much to go on."

She laughed and handed me the Chinese.

We were quiet and I could still tell she was uneasy

"I mean I feel in love with you a long time ago and you're by far the only one who can put up with my reckless ass so that should have told me everything then but I'm hardheaded that way"

The look she gave me had me laughing first shock then nodding only to hit my arm.
