A/N: Happy new years! And suprise!

So this little New Year one shot was somewhat planned about a week ago. I knew I wanted to do a new years special, but putting one in Heartshot seemed to break the flow. So I decided to finally start working on my goal as a writer here, which you can find on my profile.

Now onto somehting important:

Attention: Heartshot may be delayed a day because I didn't realize I had plans. It may come out on time but it may not. Not sure yet.

Anyway, enjoy my first attempt at a Oneshot, as well as a Liz x Kirito

The drink was set down with a clink, Kazuto Kiriguya letting out a dramatic sigh as he signaled the barkeep for another. As expected Agil, or Andrew rather, came over with a begrudged look on his face, and filled the glass back up with beer.

Andrews bar, Dicey's Cafe, was packed full at the moment. The annual New Years Eve party was well underway, leaving the bar bustling full of custom. Normally, Kazuto would love nothing more then to join in with the festivities, there was just one small issue at the moment.

Asuna.

Earlier that week, while Kazuto was logged into ALO, he and Asuna had a large argument. The two ended up spliting, the unthinkable for most everyone who knew them. It had been a messy break up, and the two hadn't spoken since. Hell, neither had even logged back in to ALO in days, a fact that had their friends worried. At least, Kazuto had thought, he still had the party to look forwards to.

Not so much...

He hadn't expected her to show up, but she did. However he wasn't petty enough that he couldn't be in the same room as her, no the issue was more social then that. It was quite simple really, they both had all the same friends. And when they saw him brooding at the bar, it was obvious which of the two they wanted to hang out with. Even Klein had ditched him, although he was mostly hanging around Fuurinkazan, his guild. Thve aspiring samurai promised not to go near Asuna, as that would violate his 'bro code'.

Kazuto was so lost in thought that he didn't even notice the person sit down next to him, however their beer mug slamming down startled him out of his stupor.

"Hey! Agil! Keep 'em comin'!" The girl stumbled onto the stool next to him, her posture and actions showing clear intoxication. She turned to him and Kazuto was supprised to see it was Liz, or rather Rikka, who was the wasted fiend. "Oh hey Kirito! Didn't see ya there!" She practically yelled out, however the noise in the cafe stopped her from drawing attention. The volume did however cause Kazuto to wince.

"Hey there Liz, guess you're enjoying the festivities tonight." Agil had come over and refiled her drink as Kazuto spoke, although he really wished the barkeep would reconsider that decision.

"Hells yeah I am! Party! Woohoo!" He had never actually seen her drunk before, but this is about what he expected. "Anyway, why ya just sitting in the corner like this? You need to come have some fun!" Kazuto held the bridge of his nose and sighed. While the concern was appreciated, he wasn't sure he could survive what Liz concidered 'having fun'.

"No thanks I'm fine here." He went to take a sip of his drink, but just before it met his lips she swiped it. "Do you mind?" She gave him a cheeky grin and waved the mug above her head.

"If you want it back you have to promise to come with me and have fun~" He wasn't really in the mood for her antics, so he just raised his hand to order another drink. "Boo, your no fun." She sat back down next to him and slid the drink back, before downing hers. Honestly by this point Kazuto had hoped she would have moved on. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy spending time with Rikka mind you, quite the opposite in fact. They went on duo quests together frequently and he very much enjoyed her company. No, he just wasn't really in the mood for converstion at the moment. And her intoxication made it worse.

"Shouldn't you be hanging out with Asuna or just enjoying the party?" As usual, when he got annoyed the filter between his brain and mouth disappeared. Althouh it was rare for him to get annoyed at someone not trying to kill him. Liz, however, just chuckled and gave him a sly smirk.

"So thats whats got your panties in a twist. Heh figured it was her." Well well well, someone wasn't as wasted as they put on. She wasn't wrong however, as much as he hated admitting it.

"Well yeah, not every day you have to go to a party with your ex." The girl seemed to calm down after the conversation turn. However, the shift caused Kazuto to droop down furthur as he was reminded of his strife. Suddenly, Liz stood up and grabbed him by the arm.

"Come on, lets go outside. Some fresh air will do you good." She started dragging him towards the exit, despite his numerous protests.

"H-hey, I don't need fresh air. I'm fine." The girl kept dragging him, almost nearing the door.

"Oh don't be like that. Its stuffy as hell in here, might as well enjoy the cold air." The two reached the door and Liz threw it open, pushing him out before following and pulling the door shut behind her. As soon as they were alone the drunk look vanished from her face, replaced by one of concern. "Okay, we're alone. I want you to tell me what happened." The change in demenor supprised him so much he had to think before answering. At first he thought it was a bad idea, since it was a secret between him and Asuna. But Liz was her best friend, so it was likely she was gonna find out anyway.

"Alright fine. But you have to promise not to tell anyone, got it?" She nodded her head and Kazuto gave a large sigh. "Asuna and I were arguing over our futures. I told her I wanted to study in America, but wanted her to stay here. She took that as 'you don't want me around' and got pissed. Before I knew it we were done. Such a stupid reason..." Tears had welled up in his eyes as he spoke. And when he finished he was suprised as Liz slowly walked up to him. Her arms came up and wrapped around his head, pulling him down into a tight hug. A sob escaped him as he hugged back tightly. "I'm not crying." He said unconvincingly. Liz gently pet his hair in responce.

"Of course not, the Black Swordsman never crys." She gently held him like that until he calmed down, the tears finally coming to a stop. He pulled away awkwardly and took a step back.

"Thank you, for that I mean." His gaze averted from hers, one hand coming up to rub his arm in a nervous manner.

"Don't mention it. I still owe you for the Dragons nest, remember?" The off hand comment brought the memories back to him, the Dragon nest and the conversation after.

"Hey, what you told me after the nest..." Lisbeths face heated up at the memory, but the alcohal prevented her from feeling to embarassed.

"Yeah about that..." She looked at him with a confidence she didn't really feel and let a smile drift onto her expression. "The offer still stands. I'm always ready to be your personal blacksmith!" Her declaration caused color to fill his cheeks. The thing was, he had some feelings for Rikka as well. However he had believed himself in love with Asuna and so never acted on them. In truth he thought about that nest a lot, and the warmth of her hand in the night.

"As much as I'd want to take you up on that offer-" They both blushed at that "- I did just come out of a relationship. It wouldn't be fair to you. And I have a lot of issues to work on."

"I understand, and the offer stands. After SAO I have some things I need to work out as well. But maybe we can work them out together- even if not romantically." Kazuto nodded slightly.

"Yeah I'd like that."

"But uh hey, do you mind doing me a favor real quick." The change in subject was abrupt, and it took Kazuto a moment to proccess.

"Uh yeah sure anything. What do you need." Liz looked at the ground with a blush on her face, before a look of confidence and determination took over and she marched towards him. She grabbed him by the collar and dragged him down to her.

And as they shared that first kiss, the clock struck midnight and cheers erupted from the bar.

Maybe, Kazuto thought this year won't be so bad

So yes this story is somewhat rushed, and there is reason for that. I've been doing some work on my Youtube Channel (EchosHuntsman, please go check it out) and my friends have decided my house is the new go to hang out spot. Which I don't mind since I enjoy spending time with them, however it doesn't give me much time to write. And they steal my drinks -_-.

Also one of them reads this story so I feel like I'ma get a text soon...

Till next time dear readers.
