Hello and welcome to my first Fanfiction!
More in the Author's Note below.
Ace barely stopped himself from falling out of the bed as he shot into a sitting position. Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, Ace peered around at the unfamiliar room as he tried to remember how he'd gotten there. He knew for sure he was at sea from the gentle rocking beneath his feet, but he was nowhere on his ship.
He forced himself to his feet even as his muscles screamed at him to lay back down and as much as he wanted to get more sleep, Ace needed to find out where he was and how he got there, not to mention where his crew was.
Ace felt as if there was something he had forgotten as he stumbled his way to the door and slammed it open. Stretching out for as far as he could see was the open water of the New World. Ace could tell that the ship he was on was larger than any ship he'd ever been on, but it wasn't until he glanced up at the jolly roger that he finally realized where he was.
The Moby Dick.
Whitebeard's ship.
It was at that moment that Ace remembered. His fight with Jinbei, Whitebeard showing up, and his own defeat.
With a groan, Ace plopped down against the railing and put his face in his hands. He didn't know what had happened after his defeat, but he could only hope that his crew had gotten away.
"Hey there!''
Ace glared up from his hands at a tall man with a pompadour.
"The name's Thatch! I'm the fourth division commander!" Thatch hopped up onto the railing, "I heard you're the newest member of our crew. Thought I'd show you around."
"Shut the hell up!"
Thatch laughed, "Not a morning person, huh? That's alright, a lot of my brothers are that way too. I love the mornings, kinda have to since I get up to cook breakfast every morning."
'Of course the crew chatterbox would greet me.' Ace thought bitterly as he focused a glare that would have promised Thatch a place six feet under if looks could kill.
"Oh, by the way, I figure you're probably wondering what happened after you passed out." Thatch grinned, "Your crew tried to get you back so we beat the hell out of them, but they're ok. We pulled them onto one of our other ships."
Despite the anger Ace felt rising, he couldn't help but feel relieved that his crew was ok. "Do you think it's a good idea to let me just walk around this ship?" Ace asked, "Shouldn't I be locked up or in shackles, or something?"
"Nah, we don't need shackles on you." Thatch laughed
Ace could believe the arrogance of the Whitebeard Pirates. Not only did they leave him free to walk around the ship, but they just left weapons laying around as if there wasn't an assassin on their ship. In fact, they had an entire storage closet full of discarded weapons.
That closet was what had then led Ace to where he was now, crouching around the corner from Whitebeard with a large battle axe clutched in his hands. The old man's back was to him and though he was surrounded by several of his crew, no one had noticed Ace yet. 'They are definitely arrogant.'
Tired of waiting Ace ran towards Whitebeard, launching himself into the air and swung the axe down towards the old man's head. Just as the axe was going to hit Whitebeard, there was a sudden movement and suddenly Ace was flying through the air. Ace twisted in the air in an unsuccessful attempt to stop his flight and before he knew it, he was sinking into the cold depths of the ocean.
'I can't believe this is how it ends. I'm so pathetic.' Ace thought, 'I'm sorry Luffy. I guess in the end I was too weak to become the Pirate King.'
Ace sensed movement in the water behind him, but was unable to turn to see what was moving around. 'A sea creature coming to eat me, no doubt.' Sure he was going to be eaten, Ace was shocked when an arm wrapped around his chest instead.
As soon as Ace's head broke the surface he twisted around to see who'd jumped in after him even as he coughed out the water he'd swallowed and was surprised to see Thatch. Thatch grinned at him as he steadily swam them back to the Moby Dick where others had thrown down a rope ladder for them, which Ace climbed up first, closely followed by Thatch.
"You're gonna be a troublesome brother aren't you, Ace?" Thatch teased as soon as they were on the deck
"I am not your brother." Ace snapped, before he turned on his heel and stalked off to find somewhere to hide.
I hope you enjoyed the story!
Also, if you have any ideas for chapters please let me know. I have 33 of the chapters planned out so I need lots of ideas.
I'll be sure to give credit to whoever gives me ideas.
