It was finally time for another test, Misato sadly thought. With her luck, everything that could go wrong would. It was supposed to just be a small training exercise between Asuka and Shinji, but something felt off. Their synch scores had dramatically increased ever since the weird angel fluke a few weeks ago. Nothing showed up on any of their tests however, but there was no reason the sync ratio should've shot up as high as it did.

"Misato! Can we get this show on the road? I wanan kick some Baka ass!" Asuka's cheery voice buzzed into Misato's earpiece.

"Fine." Misato looked over at Hyuga with a huff. "Start the training exercise!"

With that the two Evangelion Units ran at each other. Grappling and fighting with each other as they had been instructed. But something was off with 01, Misato noticed how Shinji seemed to stay back, as if weary of Unit 02.

"Shinji? Can you hear me?" Misato spoke into her earpiece, but was met with static and silence from Unit 01's comms. Misato looked to Aoba, and she only got a confused gaze. "Are any of you able to connect with Unit 01?" Misato commanded.

"No Mam! Unit 01 is resisting all messages or attempts to override controls!" Maya yelled back.

"Try and get a connection! I don't care what it takes!" Misato barked. "Mam Shinji's vitals have dropped! He's no longer in control of Evangelion Unit 01! But no pattern blue has been detected!" Maya frantically screamed.

"Establish a connection to Unit 02 NOW!" Misato screamed. Just as she had thought, something had gone wrong. She looked over, and even Ritsuko looked confused on what was going wrong. "Com with Unit 02 is open Mam!" Hyuga responded.

"Asuka! Do you hear me?" Misato spoke

"Yeah I hear you, what's wrong with the Baka?" Asuka quipped

"His Unit is acting strange *bzzz* do *bzz* something *bzz*" Misato had started cutting out. "Misato, you want me to do something about him?"

"What? No I said do not do anything Asuka! We are trying to fix this, something is wrong with his Eva, stay away!" Misato frantically yelled, but it was too late, her message didn't go through. And she could only stare in horror as Asuka turned Unit 02 to face Unit 01.

Shinji stared in horror as control of his Eva was taken from him. All had been going well in the training until his Eva started reacting slower and eventually stopped listening to him. He heard Misato try and come through the comms, but it wouldn't go through. Eventually he felt Kurtz like he had the first time, except this time, Kurtz seemed to bring the Anger and bloodlust of all the demons of Hell with him.

"I can sense that fucking vile bastard Perceros, I can taste him. He's in that red Evangelion. Necessary action must be taken... decimation, immolation, extirpation are the only things that abomination deserves. Ten million years of battle, and it all comes to this.

I. Will. Kill. HIM." Kurtz screamed out loud as Shinji faded from consciousness.

Asuka readied herself in her Evangelion. This was it, the Third child had finally screwed up. It was her time to shine, she was the one to take down the idiot in his stupid little tantrum. Asuka looked forward, eyes watering from excitement and fear. Every ounce of marrow in her bones was ready for this. She gripped the controls tighter, and slowly brought Unit 02 into a better stance.

"I wouldn't be so cocky if I were you. You're sitting at 110% synchronization. " The voice of Perceros boomed into her plug.

Asuka groaned, and rolled her eyes at the self-proclaimed "God" that inhabited her plug. About 1500ft in front of her Unit 01 stood motionless. As if something had gone wrong. "Maybe the little brat finally ran out of power in his tantrum" Asuka smugly thought. Slowly she brought Unit 02 to a walking pace, enclosing on the still Evangelion. The once still Unit 01 roared to life, it's mechanical body seizing as it seemed to surge with an unknown power. Unit 01 stumbled as it ran at Unit 02, acting like some kind of rabid animal.

It reached out, clawing at Unit 02's forearms as Unit 02 braced itself. The rabid Unit 01 ripped and tore at 02's forearms, tearing metal through its elongated claws. 02 stumbled backwards, and Asuka caught herself, bringing the Unit back under her control. 01 stood there, heaving as it nearly seemed to struggle for air.

"Perceros!" Unit 01 screamed in an ungodly sounding metallic cry. I know that fucking voice, Kurtz is in that Evangelion… I can't let this girl get hurt by him. Perceros thought as Unit 02 swung at 01, colliding with the Evangelion's mouth. 02 pulled its arm back, reading itself for another swing. 01 sunk itself down, and lunged at 02, causing 02 to stumble backwards. Asuka attempted to retaliate by swinging 02's right hand in 01's general direction, but 01 caught this with it's open hand and gripped down on the opposing Unit's fingers. A metallic crunch echoed across the empty streets as Unit 01 clamped down even harder on Unit 02's right hand.

"PERCEROS, I COULD SENSE YOU. AND NOW WE CAN FINISH WHAT WE STARTED OH SO LONG AGO" Kurtz screamed through Unit 01.

Asuka screamed inside her plug as two of her fingers were broken. With it's free hand, the rabid Unit 01 sent a fury filled haymaker into Unit 02's trapped arm. Unit 02' arm bent and creaked as Unit 01's fist collided into its right forearm. Another ear splitting scream escaped from Unit 02's Plug, as the pilot's right arm broke.

"I'm taking control of this, NOW!" Perceros growled. Unit 02' seemed to shudder as the God took control.

"THIS ENDS NOW KURTZ, YOU BASTARD!" Perceros screamed as Unit 02 copied his movements with it's open jaw. Retaliating, 02 sent a left uppercut into 01's side, causing the Evangelion to release its grip on Unit 02's now bent arm. Unit 01 stumbled back, and Unit 02 slammed it's fist into 01 's chest, sending it sliding back on its feet. Quickly Perceros had 02 bend it's arm back into place, causing more pain to Asuka.

Unit 02 ran at 01, and slammed a kick into 01's side. 01 retaliated with a punch to 02's ribs. Unit 02 absorbed the punch, and grabbed Unit 01 by the armor on it's collar and slammed it's free fist into 01's face . Again and again 02 slammed it's fist into the airborne Evangelion's mouth, and desperately the crazed Unit 01 tried to free itself. Unit 02 finally ended it's barrage of punches, and threw Unit 01 into a building nearby. Unit 01 slammed into the building with enough force for the Evangelion to get caught in place.

Seizing his chance, Perceros ripped the progressive knife out of it's holster and sprinted at the trapped Unit 01. Lunging at 01, 02 stabbed the prog knife at 01's ribs. Unit 01 grabbed 02's shoulder with one hand, and ripped the knife out of 02's hand with the other. Stabbing into the Unit on top of it, 01 was able to make 02 bleed and break two of it's ribs from the impact.

Inside of the plug, Asuka was now in unbearable pain, her right forearm was broken clean in half, two of her ribs were broken, blood was dripping out of her mouth as the stab wound in her side quickly pooled with her own blood. She looked down, horrified at the blood that was darkening her prized bright red plug suit. The pain was making her sick, it was the most excruciating pain she'd ever been in, yet she couldn't escape it. The LCL wouldn't let her slip from this horrible conscious state she was in. Asuka mentally screamed everytime the Eva moved, as her broken body took the brunt of everything the Eva felt. She cursed her mother, Misato, that damned father of Shinji's, and most of all the idiot Shinji. Asuka knew he wasn't in control, yet NERV acted like he was, and sent her to stop him.

"Why not send the doll…?" Asuka mumbled to herself in her barely lucid state. Another one of her ribs getting broken shook Asuka back to reality as she let out another uncontrolled scream. Unit 01 had just slammed it's fist into her beloved Eva's ribs again.

This time the force was enough to shake 02 off of the trapped Unit 01, and gave 01 enough time to free itself from the building. Unit 01 grabbed the fallen Unit 02's leg, and swung it into the building 01 had just freed itself from. Unit 02 flew through the building, and slammed into the ground behind it. 02 struggled to get up as Unit 01 encroached on it. Perceros knew he was getting beat, but had to survive, otherwise Kurtz would win, and destroy everything. Unit 02 was barely standing by the time Unit 01 reached it, but it had enough energy to punch Unit 01.

Unit 01 stumbled back, but regained it's posture. Perceros surged the Evangelion with more of his power. He must win. He cannot fail.

"YOU WILL NOT PREVAIL KURTZ, NOT ON MY FUCKING LIFE." Perceros screamed.

"I WILL TAKE YOUR LIFE, TEAR OFF YOUR MASK AND CRUSH YOUR SKULL RIGHT WHERE YOU FUCKING LIE. I WILL CONSUME YOUR BODY AND YOUR SOUL, FOREVER TO KEEP AS MINE. YOU WILL JOIN THE ABYSS' TIMELESS CHORUS PERCEROS. IT IS AS INEVITABLE AS THE END OF TIME. BATHE IN THE LIGHT OF THE ABYSS." Kurtz's deep, haunting voice echoed out of Unit 01's open mouth

Unit 01 started to shake as a blue light overtook it. Suddenly the air around Unit 01 started to turn black, as if light was falling. Unit 01 cast it's battered arms up, and a beacon of black shot down upon the ragged Unit 01.

A sword of black construction itself in Unit 01's trembling hands. Kurtz brought the sword straight down into the trapped Unit 02's chest. Again and again the black blade slammed into Unit 02's chest, yet it wouldn't pierce the metal of the Evangelion's chest. With one final strike Kurtz slammed the blade down with all of Unit 01's might, and it struck on the inside of Unit 02's left thigh, and cut halfway down the Unit's thigh. Inside of Unit 02, this left one finally incision upon the German pilot as she hung onto life, cursing herself and her mother for this pain she was in.

When Unit 01 went to bring the blade up one final time, it stopped responding to Kurtz's commands. The Evangelion's battery had finally given out, and could not handle any more power being shoved through it by Kurtz. Kurtz screamed, pleaded, and begged the metallic effigy to move, yet it wouldn't budge. Finally Kurtz gave up, as controlling the Unit and summoning his blade cost him too much to continue to fight it. So the metallic beast's reigns were handed back to the unconscious original pilot, who could not do anything with them.

Inside of Unit 02, Asuka was struggling to breathe. Perceros knew she couldn't handle much more. While he'd taken the brunt of Kurtz's onslaught, Asuka had still been synced to the Evangelion. She'd taken more than enough of her share, and even with Perceros using his energy to keep her safe and heal her, but it cost too much from him. Kurtz's blade had nearly killed him, and healing Asuka had drained any energy he had left. Perceros had one final choice... save himself, or save her. Perceros knew as long as he was alive and detectable by Kurtz, this entire planet would be heading to Hell, and no one was safe. So Perceros used the last bit of power he had to eject the plug and send it shooting to NERV, as close as he could get it to the Med Bay, and stayed inside the Evangelion, slowly wasting away. He only had so much power without his body, and it looked like this red, metallic ark of humanity would be his tomb. Perceros wouldn't die, but his soul would be forever stuck inside this Evangelion, slowly to rot away. But at least Perceros stopped Kurtz…

"I finally did it… I didn't win, but I ended the fight…" Perceros said with a soft sigh, before finally fading away from consciousness.

From Evangelion Unit 01 Kurtz looked down, sadness filling him. He knew Perceros would rather die than ever end their fight, but it seems he had to do both. Kurtz sighed, knowing now he was the only one left, but he'd killed the genocidal maniac that was Perceros, and Kurtz knew he'd go to his grave knowing the truth. The truth that Perceros would've destroyed everyone for the "Gods" who had long since passed. Perceros was just a lost man, on a long forgotten mission, to eliminate a long dead power. His mission was given by corpses, and he never won in the end, and followed his masters all the way to the end. Kurtz felt all feeling wash away from him… millions of years of strife over. All thanks to this spineless kid being too scared to stop him.

At that moment, Kurtz knew what he had to do, it wouldn't make up for everything either party had done. But Kurtz could at least try and help the poor Shinji Ikari at least be less of a coward. It's the least Kurtz could do, he just hoped the Kid would listen.
