A/N: Just a little one-shot I had stuck in my head, and couldn't get out hope you guys enjoy! - dragon628
Annabeth, Percy, and Tyson had left to go on a quest to find the golden fleece two days ago. Thalia's tree was vulnerable and dying. Cabins took turns in guarding the border. Though some of the magic was retained from Thalia's tree, a lot wasn't and with all these demigods in one place they were a hotspot for monsters, everyone knew that. But Thalia's tree kept out not just monsters, but spiders at Athena's request. She couldn't have them tormenting her children in a safe haven (mostly) like Camp Halfblood!
As usual no one told this to the acting head counselor. If anyone noticed, or had any knowledge of the fact they didn't say anything. It was 9pm, and Malcolm had just ordered lights out in 10 minutes. One of the rather new campers Molly was begging Malcolm for another 5 minutes. He was just about to cave when there was an ear splitting scream from the other side of the cabin.
Malcolm whipped around just in time to see one of his older younger brothers, Colin, jump on the closest beds, which so happened to be Malcolm's bed. Malcolm was about to ask what was the matter when another scream came forth, this time from Lyla. Then another from Nick, and another from Brandon, and Savannah, and Fin, and Holly, and Sofia, and Alexandra, and Cliff, and Laura, and Nolan, and Christy, and Jay, and Molly, and Simon. Finally Malcolm saw what they were screaming at a gigantic hairy spider had crawled out from the open closet. Malcolm too let out an ear splitting scream like his siblings, though he will deny it too this day, especially if it's Annabeth asking.
The Athena campers quickly evacuated Cabin 6, and ran to the big house terrified. Malcolm knocked on the door three times, hoping it was Chiron that answered, and not Mr. D. They were in luck, it was Chiron that answered. "Malcolm." He yawned. "My boy, it's late, what are you doing up, the cleaning harpies will be out soon! And is that your entire Cabin behind you?!" "Yes, yes it is Chiron." He answered surprisingly calmly for a boy who had been screaming at the top of his lungs a moment ago.
"Malcolm, actually Cabin 6, why are you here? I'd take an answer from any of you at the moment, I'm so confused." "Theres-there-theres a s-s-s-s-s-p-p-p-p-i-i-i-i-d-d-d-d-e-e-e-e-e-r-r-r in our c-c-c-a-a-a-a-a-a-b-b-b-i-i-i-n-n-n." Little 5 year old Sofia answered terrified. "Oh." Chiron came to a realization. "All right, take me to it." Chiron said in a resigned voice. He was so tired, and just wanted to go to bed!
The Children of Athena brought Chiron to the spider. "Seriously guys?!?!" Chiron rolled his eyes. "I can barely see this thing!" So maybe the spider wasn't so big, but you didn't know if it was hairy or not! It probably was, spiders are icky, and scary, and just plain out mean! According to Jay who was 8.
All 17 of the kids were hiding behind Chiron as he picked the spider up, and released it outside. "There, now we'll be sure to get you all some spider killer spray in the morning, but off to bed with all of you!"
And that's why Cabin 6 was full of 'Spider Be Gone' spray when Annabeth returned to camp.
