"Oh, Steve, I've been looking for you so much for almost three years! I never gave up on you," Catherine told him.

"Thanks for not giving up, but are you sure your husband is me?" He asked.

Catherine opened her purse and picked up the phone. She showed him the many pictures of them two together and the pictures of him with Debby as a baby. Steve looked at the photos and gave a sad smile. He didn't recognize himself as that guy in the photos. He didn't have the same joy and self-confidence.

"I don't know what happened to you, but I'm here now, you're not alone anymore," Catherine held his hand and looked him in the eye.

Steve just nodded. "So my name is Steve?" He asked.

Catherine took his documents in her purse and gave them to him. "Steven John McGarrett, Lieutenant Commander of the Navy and head of the Hawaii Task Force. The Navy gave me your documents."

Steve looked at the documents for a few seconds and gave them to her again. The monk approached and Steve told him that Catherine and the children were his family.

"You have a beautiful family, Jamal," the monk said.

"My real name is Steven, and they came to take me home."

"That's great, my friend. I'm very happy for you. Introduce me to your family," the monk told him.

Steve pointed first to Catherine and then to the children. "This is Catherine, this is Debby and this is Joe."

"My name is Deborah," Debby protested.

Steve smiled and pointed at her again. "This is Deborah," he told the monk, and then looked at Catherine. "Catherine, this is monk Rajan, he's the one who found me."

"Nice to meet you. Could you tell me under what circumstances you found him?" Catherine asked Monk Rajan.

"Of course, I can do it. Can we talk away from the children?" Rajan asked her.

Catherine deduced that it had been very bad, so he didn't want to talk in front of the children. Joe wouldn't understand, but Debby was very perceptive for her age. "Of course," she replied to him.

"You two stay here with Daddy," Catherine told Debby and Joe. She put them closer to Steve. "Don't get away from Daddy."

She walked away to talk to Rajan.

"We found him in the valley between the mountains and honestly we didn't think he would survive. He had broken legs, head trauma, abrasions all over his body and his eyes wouldn't open because of the swelling on his face".

Her eyes were wet with tears. "Then he was tortured and left there to die."

"I think so," the monk replied.

"What about his memory?" Catherine asked.

"When he woke up in the hospital, he no longer knew who he was. And the doctors said he might never remember."

Catherine couldn't avoid the tears that fell on her face. "My God."

"Where do you come from?" He asked.

"We came from Hawaii," Catherine answered.

"And what was he doing so far from home?" Rajan wanted to know.

"He's a Navy Lieutenant and he was on a mission, and the mission wasn't here in Nepal. I don't understand how he got here. And the mission was a mission of peace."

"I'm glad you found him. But how did you find him?" Rajan asked. He wanted to make sure that Steve/Jamal would be okay.

"A girl recognized me because of the drawing of my face that a woman made for him. She shared my picture and I was found".

"Okay. Take good care of my friend," Rajan told her.

"I will. Thank you for everything you did for him. If he needs a witness to tell what happened to him, can I count on you?" Catherine asked him.

"Of course," Rajan answered.

"Thank you." Catherine told him.

Catherine and the monk returned to Steve. "Well, Jamal, I think it's time to get your things and say goodbye to everyone," Rajan told him.

Steve looked out onto the patio. "I haven't finished my work yet."

"Someone else can finish it," Rajan told him.

"No, I'll finish what I started. Can you wait, Catherine?"

"Of course, Steve. We'll wait," she answered.

Catherine and the children waited for him for almost two hours. After Steve said goodbye to everyone, they left.

When they arrived in town, Catherine took Steve to the barbershop to shave and cut his hair. He protested at first, but ended up accepting.

"See? You're someone else now," Catherine told him as he looked in the mirror.

"Yes, you're right," Steve answered.

Joe wanted a haircut just like his father did, and Catherine allowed it. As the barber cut Joe's hair, Debby became jealous. Daddy, I want my hair cut, too."

Steve looked at Catherine and she said no with a movement of the head.

"No, Debby. Your hair is beautiful, and I don't want you to cut it," Steve said.

"Okay, Daddy. Then I don't want to cut my hair anymore," Debby answered.

"Good. You're a smart girl," Steve told her.

After leaving the barbershop, Catherine took Steve to a store to buy some clothes and a sneaker and then went to the hotel.

"It's beautiful here," Steve told her.

"Yes, it's not the best, but it's comfortable," she replied.

Catherine tried to buy the tickets for the next day, but she could only buy them for two days later.

"We'll leave in three days," she told Steve and the kids.

"Daddy, this is Bob," Debby said to him, showing her plush alligator.

"Hello, Bob," Steve said.

"Did you like him, Daddy?"

"Yes, Debby. He seems very nice."

"Did you know that alligator can eat a person? But Bob doesn't do that," Debby told him.

Steve laughed. "That's very nice. And what's the other one? You told me about two."

"Eddie? Eddie's alive, Daddy. He's our dog."

"Oh, OK. I get it, Debby."

Steve spent the rest of the day watching TV with the children. Catherine ordered dinner in the room and after dinner she put the kids to sleep.

As the room had a double bed and a single bed, Catherine and the children stayed in the double bed and Steve stayed in the single bed.

He was sitting on the bed, his knees bent, found on the wall, and was looking at the children sleeping peacefully.

"I wish I could sleep just like them," he said to Catherine, who was getting ready for bed too.

She sat next to him on the bed to talk. "Do you have nightmares?" She asked.

"No. I just can't sleep." He said and kept looking at the children. "I still can't believe I have two kids."

"You're wondering why Joe's so small if you disappeared almost three years ago, right?"

"I'm not gonna lie to you. Yes, I asked myself that."

"Well, we made him on our last night together before you left. When you disappeared you didn't even know I was pregnant again. I didn't cheat on you. We can do a DNA test if it makes you feel better," Catherine answered.

"No, I don't want a DNA test. I'm sorry," he told her.

"It's okay," she answered.

They remained silent for a while and Catherine thought about how strange all that was, how different he was.

"Can you tell me my story? And please don't omit anything," he asked.

"Okay. I'll start with your childhood?" She asked.

"Yes, start."

"Okay," Catherine paused before she started telling him about his childhood. He asked a lot of questions and the night was long. It was almost day when she asked to continue later.

"All right, we'll continue later," he answered.

"Good night, Steve," she kissed his cheek.

"Good night, Catherine."

"You used to call me Cath," she said.

He gave her half a smile. "Good night, Cath."
