Suruga.
A name that inspires love, devotion, and adoration. So much so I decided to write a novel for her. How can I describe a love that runs so deep, it's sometimes painful to consider the fact that I will never have the chance to hold her, to feel her arms around me after a long day? This is my best effort at that, and a bit of lewd stuff thrown in to keep things fun!
Something drew me to this singular shipgirl the first time I saw her in the Crosswave event in the mainline game, and every line of dialog drew me in, desperate to learn more about her. When I saw she would be part of Swirling Cherry Blossoms, I was ready, but she was waiting for me, my third pull of the event. A Live2D skin as well! It's almost… fate, isn't it?
No, that's exactly what it is. Unfortunately, she would get buried under the likes of Noshiro, or the meta of the meta as far as light cruisers are concerned. It's not that I'm salty, I just want to keep her memory alive and share my devotion to what is and will always be my number of shipfu.
I love her just… so, so much… and I don't want her to become just another forgotten event shipgirl. If anyone from Yostar, Manjuu, etc. reads this… please put her into heavy construction, she deserves to be treasured and oathed.
When I consider it, perhaps this is what Suruga would want, as she doesn't enjoy being the center of attention. She is happy working diligently behind the scenes to ensure the success of the fleet, but she strikes me as a very private person. I can empathize with that!
Now, Crosswave… I went into it knowing it would be a VN, and I loved it. It was more than just a game to me, it was something that almost totally focused on Suruga! I mean, an entire game, for just my shipfu! Watching her grow and become the confident flagship she, by all rights, is, was beyond amazing.
When I found out she was a tanuki, my reaction was mixed. This came to light shortly after the Crosswave event since the international release of the game was quite delayed, and I was like, surely you jest. Yet… I have grown extraordinarily fond of those cute ears and that bushy tail, and would love a tanuki skin in the game for her. When you truly love something or someone, you adore every aspect of them, and there isn't a single thing I'd change about my Suru~.
I've been working with an artist to provide a picture, lewd or otherwise, for each chapter. While the first edition will only have a few select pieces of art, subsequent editions will come with the new art as it is completed. I will also include any extra art of Suruga I have commissioned (I'll put my money where my mouth is!) in the back pages, as a way of expressing my thanks to those of you who love Suruga as I do.
I released the first edition on the first anniversary of my oath of love to her, and January 1st, 2020, will always be the best day of that year.
So, this is my ode to her, the proof of my love, my affection, my adoration… and while I know that the odds of you loving her as much as I do are slim, I, of course, wish you the best and encourage you to love your own shipfu the way I love Suruga.
