Island of Patch
If you asked anyone on Patch about the day the Twin Cats left the island for mainland Vale, they'd say it started out just like any other day. The sky was clear, the air nice and warm, and the forests quiet.
Then, the sound of several explosions rang out from the treeline, followed by several gunshots. Birds took to the sky and scattered, the woodland critters bolted, and even the lurking Grimm in the forest gave the source of the sounds a wide berth.
The explosions and gunfire sounded akin to a warzone or an extermination of Grimm that had gotten too close to a group of huntsmen. However, the noise wasn't caused by either of those. No, this was caused by a single powerful, albeit young, girl carrying a large lever-action rifle with a massive bayonet.
She was of fairly average height, with shoulder-length golden hair underneath a baseball cap emblazoned with her symbol, a screaming skull topped with a crown. She wore a pale lavender jacket like a cape along with a sleeveless hoodie, zipped only slightly, over a tight compression suit, displaying her equally prominent bust and muscles. However, her defining feature came in the form of the tufted cat ears atop her head, sticking out of holes cut into her hat.
The girl grinned, tossing away the rifle as her hands instinctively moved to the holstered revolvers at her hips. Her ears picked up a noise from behind her, moving at a staggeringly fast speed towards the faunus girl. However, despite this, she stood stock-still, until suddenly, the object of her attention slowed down, and she immediately whirled around and fired both pistols at the speeding being as she dove to the side. The shots were absorbed by her target's Aura but they broke the target's concentration, causing them to tumble over the shooter's outstretched leg.
The target, another faunus girl with lighter, almost white hair and cat ears, grumbled as she got to her feet. She wore a gray baggy hanten jacket with an added hood, the sleeves fed into her gauntlets, causing them to balloon out slightly. The hood had orange ear-like protrusions, seemingly added by hand, which caused her ears to appear far larger than they actually were. She wore an orange obi belt with two swords, a katana and a wakizashi, tucked inside. She had a belt of knives attached to one leg.
"Taiga." The first girl spoke, sounding dead-serious.
"Kira." The second girl, Taiga, replied, sounding equally grave.
"What's our sparring record so far?" Kira asked, her voice losing all seriousness.
"I won ten, you got nine. Gonna try to change that?" Taiga responded after pondering for a moment.
"Game on, sis."
Taiga took off to the left, her immense speed blurring her movements, with her swords drawn. Kira fired her revolvers, occasionally hitting Taiga, causing her Aura to fizzle and pop as it shielded her from the bullets. Kira pulled the triggers again, only to be met with a click from two empty chambers. Taiga capitalized on this, closing in on her sister in a flash. The gunslinger parried an incoming slash with an empty revolver, causing the swordswoman to stumble as Kira holstered her guns and drew the weapon mounted on her back.
Taiga dodged a bullet from Kira's rifle and responded with a throwing knife of her own. It was knocked away with a swing from the bayonet, and Taiga closed in, targeting the opening with her longer sword. Kira whirled around and blocked, the katana glancing off the gunblade. Their blades met again, and again, clashing in a cacophony of metallic ringing. Taiga leapt forward, pressing the advantage given by her two lighter blades, only for Kira to leap upwards, making a thumbs-up motion while in the air.
Kira landed behind her sister, whirling around and kicking towards her head. Taiga ducked, dropping to sweep at Kira's legs. The gunslinger jumped over her sister's leg, spinning for a brief moment in the air. She attempted an overhead swing at her sister, who rolled to the side. Taiga leapt to her feet, slashing at Kira once more. The two continued to exchange blows, but Taiga noticed something… off as she fought.
Kira was occasionally firing her rifle. Not at her, but rather, into the air. Taiga strained her ears, and heard what sounded like a very brief 'ding' sound after another shot. She blocked a sweep from Kira's bayonet, locking the gunblade and her katana in a tense clash. She flipped her shorter blade to an icepick grip and swiftly moved it behind Kira's sword, using her two swords to force the bayonet to the side and out of Kira's hands. She kicked Kira in the gut, knocking her onto her rear. Taiga pointed her longer sword at Kira's head.
"Yield." She said.
"Nah." Kira responded. This caused some confusion for Taiga. How could she still be so cocky? Could Kira somehow still have an ace in the hole? Taiga's mind raced as she kept her eyes locked on her sister. Then, as Kira raised her right hand and made a thumbs-up motion, it dawned on her. She had used her Semblance for something, but… what? Taiga's katana? She would've noticed if Kira tried to grab her sword. Then, light glinted from above her.
"Oh." Taiga breathed out as a golden coin stamped with a screaming skull fell in front of her.
"Gotcha." Kira said, grinning and pressing her thumb onto her index finger.
The coin blew up with the force of a hand grenade, shattering Taiga's Aura.
Kira rolled back and launched herself back to her feet, chuckling. She grabbed her sister's hand and pulled her back upright.
"Clever. Veee~ry clever." Taiga grunted.
"Hehe. Ma trained me well, I guess."
"So did Mom, give her some credit too." Taiga said.
"Well, yeah, but stealth and strategy isn't exactly Mom's thing, now, is it?"
"Fair enough. Hey, speaking of Mom and Ma, shouldn't we be getting to the airport about now?"
"Shit! We should!" Kira shouted, panic evident from her voice. The two of them took off away from the forest and down a nearby road.

They arrived at a large airfield, out of breath and exhausted.
"A-are we on time?" Kira asked weakly.
"Girls! Over here!" A loud, exuberant voice called out. The source: Yang Xiao Long, member of huntress team RWBY, combat instructor at Beacon Academy, loving wife of Blake Belladonna, and mother of Kira and Taiga Xiao Long, the Twin Cats of Patch.
"Hey, Mom!" Kira yelled back, waving exaggeratedly. The Twin Cats strolled over to their mother.
"Where's Ma?" Taiga asked, tilting her head slightly.
"She had some business in Vale, so she went on ahead on the flight before ours." Yang said. Taiga grunted in affirmation in place of words. "Are you girls ready to get going?"
"Hell yeah!" Kira cheered. Taiga just nodded.
"Then let's go. Airship's taking off in five minutes." Yang turned and bolted towards an idling airship, leaving Kira and Taiga to frantically chase after her.
"Beacon, here we come! Woohoo!" Kira shouted as she and her sister sprinted across the tarmac.
