Chapter One

The beginning of a great journey

A tall man with long spiky hair, green outfit and red cloak, with 2 red lines coming from his eyes was running through a forest at blinding speeds rushing towards Konoha, the village hidden in the leaves. Just two days ago his pupil, Minato Namikaze, fought the Kyuubi and saved the village at the cost of his own life.

He remembered that Minato was supposed to have a child and wanted to protect him since he failed him by letting him die.

[2 HOURS LATER, KONOHA]

The man was still running when he saw Konoha. Within moments, he was at the Hokage Tower searching for Lord Third, his sensei.

He smashed the door and burst into the Hokages office.

"Is it true?" He quickly asked, still not sure if he was ready for the news.

"Yes, Jiraiya, it is." Hiruzen replied looking at the floor ashamed he couldn't help his successor Minato.

"And what about Kushina, and her child?" Kushina was Minatos wife who was pregnant the last time he saw her.

"She is also… dead… but the boy is fine. He is in the hospital recovering." He replied finally managing to look Jiraiya in the eyes.

"Recovering? From what? Are you sure my godson is safe?"

"Don't worry Jiraiya, he has Konohas best medics with him." He replied calming down Jiraiya. "He is recovering from Thee Kyuubi being sealed within him. Before you freak out know that there was no other option. His name is Naruto, and he will have Kushinas last name for safety. Come and meet Naruto Uzumaki." he explained and started walking Jiraiya following close by.

"Hi Naruto." Said Jiraiya with the biggest smile on his face which quickly turned into a face of despair.

The next few hours he spent talking to his sensei and taking care of Naruto.

Naruto had blond hair, eyes blue as the sky, three whiskers on each cheek and a smile that could melt even the darkest of hearts.

"Sensei, I need to go, you know why. I will be back in three years, in that time I want Naruto to be taken care of and live a normal childhood. I will send him money each month from now on. I want you to spend it on him on stuff like clothes, food and so on. In three years I will take him with me around the world and train him to the best of his abilities. I will come with him when he is eight, and he will go to the ninja academy. Understand?" Jiraiya explained while Hiruzen nodded. He was willing to let Jiraiya do this, he was his godfather anyway.

The two men said their goodbyes and went their own way. Jiraiya said goodbye to Naruto and jumped out the window.

[3 YEARS LATER, KONOHA]

"Hey jiji, when will you teach me a cool jutsu?" asked a three-year-old Naruto while jumping around the room throwing paper as if they were shurikens.

"Later Naruto, I have to work right now." replied Hiruzen. Over the last 3 years he grew to like the boy as if he were his own grandson, and it seemed Naruto thought of him like his grandfather. He was waiting for Jiraiya to come and take the boy with him.

As if planned Jiraiya hopped on the window frame of The Hokages office.

"Hi." He waved.

"Ah Jiraiya, how are you? Finally came to pick him up?" he replied kindly.

"Yeah, is that him?" Jiraiya said pointing at Naruto.

"Hi, my name is Naruto Uzumaki, and I am three years old. Who are you?" Naruto yelled while holding four fingers up instead of three.

Jiraiya chuckled, he reminded him so much of Minato and Kushina at the same time.

"My name is Jiraiya, and I am here to see you. I am your godfather and I wanna ask you if you wanna go on an adventure with me." he said looking at the young boy.

Naruto looked at Hiruzen, who was smiling just as much as Jiraiya, then back to the tall man and asked "What's a godfather?"

"Basically, he is your family, and he will look after you." answered the wise old Hiruzen.

"Family? Wow! I never met anyone from my family. So where do you wanna take me?"

"I wanna take you to see the world and train with me to become a strong ninja."

"Will jiji come with us?" Naruto asked, He didn't want to leave the old man behind.

"No Naruto, I am The Hokage, and I am needed here, but don't worry you will see me again." Lord Third explained.

"Oh, well ok." Naruto said kinda sadly but then remembered the cool strong ninja thing.

The rest of the day they spend hanging out and Jiraiya talked with Naruto a lot. He was such a fascinating boy even tho he was only three.

[The next day]

"Well it is time for us to head out. Goodbye sensei." Jiraiya said as he waved goodbye.

"Bye Jiji. When I am back I will take that hat of yours!" Naruto said following Jiraiya.

"Good luck Naruto and Jiraiya, I hope to see you soon."Hiruzen replied with a smile as he turned his back and started walking.

This is the beginning of a great journey. But a really long long one.
