Eighteen years have passed since Robert Baratheon's failed rebellion against House Targaryen. Robert lost at the Trident to Rhaegar, but was spared. He was permitted to keep his lands and titles under heavy sanctions.
Rhaegar polygamously married Lyanna Stark in addition to Elia Martell after seizing the Crown through force, with support from his uncle, Prince Aegor, Lord-Commander of the Kingsguard. Rhaegar's son Aegon remained as the Crown Prince, with Rhaegar's Second Son born of Lyanna, Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen being his spare heir.
This is the story of Aegon Targaryen, The King of Dragons...
(Red Keep, King's Landing, The Crowlands, Westeros)
It was the Debut of Prince Aegon's reign as King Aegon VI Targaryen. As a Prince, the nobles and smallfolk alike called him Aegon the Gregarious, because his socially active lifestyle, while those of the older generations called him Aegon the Unrelenting, because of his relentless determination to succeed in his goals.
Prodigious in his Skill at arms, a master of horse, sword, lance, and bow. A once in a generation Swordsman. Aegon was as good at combat as just understanding people at the base of their mentality.
Aegon like any true Dornishman had his share of Lovers and Paramours, chief amongst them his Dornish Cousins Arianne, Nymeria, and Tyene. The latter two being permanent fixtures at court.
Aegon preferred to wear practical clothing, thus his clothes were often of Velvet or Wool. He always carried a sword in full view at his hip. The Blade being a Valyrian Steel Bastard Sword. Aegon called this Blade Rhaegar's Wrath. The Hilt was Dragonbone, with Ancient Valyrian Runes carved into it.
Aegon also carried two Daggers of Valyrian Steel, he kept these hidden, but they were no less cherished. He called them Tye and Nym for his chief Paramours.
Aegon's personal Sigil was the Targaryen Dragon within the Martell Sun and Spear. A sigil he continued to bear today.
The trumpets sounded and Aegon marched with an escort of Four Kingsguard while the remaining two stood at the thrones base. Aegon greeted his great uncle warmly, before acknowledging his sister, Princess Rhaenys, his mother, Queen Mother Elia, his stepmother, Dowager Queen Lyanna, and his half-brother, Prince Jaehaerys. He acknowledged each of them with a nod, as he ascended the steps to the Iron Throne.
As he sat down atop the Iron Throne, Aegon studied the room before he spoke.
''It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you all of the passing of the King's Hand, Lord Jon Connington, and senior Kingsguard member, Prince Lewyn Martell. It pains me that my reign starts with the passing of two men who could easily have been like a second or third father to me, but then only Stranger knows when we die.'' Says a Mournful Aegon. ''With the deaths of these two great men, and the unfortunate passing of Prince Viserys the previous month, the Small Council is down two members while the Kingsguard itself has lost two as well. Therefore, I am appointing Ser Stannis Baratheon as my Acting Hand, and am calling upon Lord Randyl Tarly to fulfill Lord Stannis's previous duties as the Acting Master of Laws. In regards to the vacancy of the Master of Ships, I humbly call upon Lord Yohn Royce. This brings me to another matter.'' Says Aegon pausing for dramatic effect.
With a deep breath Aegon readies himself.
''I have come to the decision to create a Grand Royal Army as well as a Royal Bank of Westeros. The men who'll oversee the Banks creation are Lord's Tywin and Tyrion Lannister's, Lord's Paxter Redwyne, Wyman Manderly, Mace Tyrell, and Edmure Tully. While the men who'll lead the creation and continued service of the Royal Army will be Ser Kevan Lannister, Lord Randyl Tarly, Lord Rickard Karstark, Greatjon Umber, Beric Dondarrion, Ser Garlan Tyrell, Ser Jaime Lannister, and Ser Brynden Tully. The men in charge of overseeing the Royal Army will be directed by Lord-Commander Aegor Targaryen until a Man is found to lead it. This naturally requires a new position on the Small Council, a Master of War, which for the time being remain vacant. The men leading the creation of the Royal Bank of Westeros shall be overseen by our Master of Coin, Lord Roose Bolton.'' Declares Aegon as he stands up and departs for the Small Council Chamber.

Aegon waited until Lord Stannis had been given his new pin before they started.
''I am well aware that I require a Queen, so give me a list of potential candidates.'' Aegon instructs.
''The main contenders would likely be Princess Arianne, Princess Rhaenys, Princess Daenerys, Lady Sansa Stark, Lady Myrcella Baratheon, and Lady Margaery Tyrell your grace.'' Says Lord Varys.
''Your opinion on your niece Lord Stannis?'' Aegon asks.
''Myrcella may be the spitting image of her mother, but she possesses the Baratheon spark of ferocity nonetheless.'' Says Stannis.
''The same could be said of Lady Sansa, your grace.'' Roose Bolton chimes in.
Aegon considers this carefully before turning his attention to Varys. ''Lord Varys, send your Little Birds to Highgarden, Storm's End, Casterly Rock, Winterfell, and Sunspear, have them observe each maiden and the general reputation amongst their Kin.'' Aegon commands.
''Yes, your grace.'' Says Varys dutifully.
''What else do we need to discuss? Aegon asks.
''Nothing that requires your immediate attention, your grace.'' Says Grand Maester Gorman.
''Then your all dismissed.'' Says Aegon, as he looks at Stannis motioning him to stay.
''Your candidates to be the Master of War?'' Aegon asks once the other's have departed.
''Lord-Commander Aegor is a proven Battle Commander, he inspires loyalty, commands respect, and evokes great fear from his enemies. As A Kingsguard and the Lord-Commander he is unable to assume this role. But my Point stands.'' Says Stannis.
''Yes, it does. Eddard Stark, Tywin Lannister, and Randyl Tarly. Eddard is honorable, he inspires his men this way. Tywin Lannister is a cold and ruthless leader, he inspires respect because he is feared. Randyl Tarly is a respected leader because of his proven history of victory over Robert. I need a man who inspires all three.'' Aegon determines.
Aegon looks thoughtful, as he mentally considers it.
''My Uncle, Prince Oberyn has the three but his passion and temperament make him unsuitable. Perhaps until such a man has been found who can show restraint, we might appoint a Master of War who invokes one of the three, with two others beside him who epitomize the remaining traits. The only question is which trait bearer shall we raise into the position.'' Aegon decides standing and he shrugs his shoulders and loosens his neck muscles as he departs the Small Council chamber.
Aegon knows competition for his Queen will be much, and that he must choose carefully. Aegon had slept with Arianne and Rhaenys in the past, but did he wish to marry them? His Cock would say yes, but Aegon had to look at this logically. The Realm was fragile right now, and Aegon needed a Queen who could provide for as much as he for her. Maybe he should follow his father's example and marry polygamously?
Bahh! Questions for another day and place
Way shorter introductory chapter I know, but I figured it would be a good place to finish it off. For now I have to enjoy Boxing Day and the belated Christmas Party we're having right now. I'm a Kiwi, we're quicker than the rest of you guys...Well mostly in any case
