In the wake of the referee announcing the winner of the match, Dr. Rota exited the stage once he had congratulated his opponent. On the bench, Frost commiserated his loss by patting him on the back. Despite his showboating, the swine alien actually was rather good-natured and had managed to entice the usually stoic Earthling to play up the theatrics of their battle towards its climax. Deceivingly strong, the doctor had spent decades honing his talents under different masters, yet not much time in actual combat; though he did pick up on the Eathling's last stratagem, he wasn't prepared for his sudden burst of speed and strength. Tenshinhan, meanwhile, as an experienced martial artist, was more than capable of seeing through his opponent's tricks and of forming counter-strategies on the fly. He had enjoyed their bout, but he felt he was yet to show the fruits of his last decade of training.

As Botamo positioned himself, Tenshinhan could feel from a glance that the bear dwarfed the swine doctor in power, yet despite the obvious strength difference between himself and his opponent, the Earthling was confident he could win.

"Begin!"

The martial artist rushed at his strange opponent and started hitting him with a precise combination of moves, however he soon realized that his moves had no effect on Botamo, who did not even waste his time blocking. "What?" Tenshinhan took a step backwards to assess the situation.

"What's wrong?"

The Earthling spiked his Ki and rushed once again toward his opponent, hoping to land a strong uppercut on his stomach. Once again, though the blow connected, his opponent did not feel a thing. Tenshinhan took another step back.

"What's wrong, Mr. Piccolo? Is Mr. Ten that much weaker than his opponent?"

"No. His opponent is much stronger, yes, but he doesn't even have his guard up; his Ki is loose, unfocused. Tenshinhan's attacks should at least cause some reaction. Yet, that Botamo guy doesn't even flinch."

"I see." Tenshinhan addressed his opponent. "It's the same kind of technique as the last guy. You're nullifying all physical damage, aren't you?" He charged up his Ki into his index finger and pointed it frontwards. "Dodon-pa!"

As he fired his beam, Botamo rushed forward. The beam bounced off of his body into the sky and the alien took this chance to catch the Earthling by shock and punch him in jaw, following it up with a hook to the liver. Tenshinhan coughed up blood but quickly regained his senses and used the Tayoken to prevent Botamo from following it up with another attack. Taking the opportunity now that his opponent was blinded, Tenshinhan jumped and attempted a dropkick. Unfortunately, he was repelled backwards into the air once he made contact. By the time he had taken control of his flight, Botamo had regained his sight.

"Pesky little move, blinding me like that."

"You repel not only physical attacks, but Ki-based moves as well. That's not a technique, it's just how your body works, isn't it?"

The ursid laughed. "Finally caught on?"

"Which means…" Tenshinhan started charging up his Ki. "There has to be a limit to how much damage you can take." As he began screaming, his intense aura shifted from white to red. On the stands, the Earthling's friends looked on in shock and awe, whilst Goku merely smirked. "Kaioken!"

Tenshinhan vanished and reappeared below on the ground, where he struck Botamo with an uppercut. Again, there was no damage. He struck with another series of blows but his opponent was once again unfazed. "When I sensed your Ki was rising, I was getting a bit worried, but I guess this is all you can do."

"Not quite!" Tenshinhan took another step back and charged up his Ki again.

"I told you it's useless!" Botamo flew in Tenshinhan's direction hoping to hit him with a punch to the nose.

"Times ten!" The Earthling vanished once more, surprising his opponent, who barely had any time to react before getting clocked with a kick to the back of the head. Sent flying toward the ground, he bounced and sprung upward but before he could land again, Tenshinhan punched him in the spine. However, Botamo once again just bounced off of the ground when he hit it.

Botamo took a moment to acknowledge that he was being thrown around and get over the shock, so seeing the opportunity, Tenshinhan deactivated Kaioken for a moment in order to conserve stamina; he then took deep breaths to calm himself down.

"That Tenshinhan!" Kuririn was amazed, shocked and also agitated. "When did he learn that move?"
"He's been perfecting it for years." Chaozu explained. "After the fight against Cell, he started training intensely in order to master it. It was the only way to catch up to Goku… and you, Kuririn."

"Huh? Why me?"

"Ten kind of accepted that he would never get as strong as Goku knowing he was an alien. But you came back from Namek stronger than he was. I think he couldn't live with himself knowing that he could still get stronger even as an Earthling."

"I guess I did get a lot stronger on Namek. But I feel bad, here's Tenshinhan training so hard while I only got my hidden power unleashed by the Grand Elder." The Earthling laughed to hide away his embarrassment. "Still, why did he never train the Kaioken before Cell? You all trained with Lord Kaio, didn't he teach you?" He said, looking at both Chaozu and Yamcha standing by his side.

"He did, but…" The scarred Earthling took his turn speaking. "None of us mastered it. We couldn't handle the initial damage on the body enough to even activate it. Must have been something about Goku's Saiyan body that let him use it well."

"That's right." Tenshinhan's best friend continued. "But Ten's been trying to activate it ever since he felt helpless in the fight against Cell. He's now able to use up to times ten with only minimal damage!"

"Wow…" The monk resumed watching the battle in front of him. "Tenshinhan sure is amazing." Somehow, he was feeling excited.

Back on the fighting stage, Tenshinhan and Botamo had been exchanging blows for a while. The Earthling took advantage of the Kaioken's sudden burst of speed and power to catch his opponent by surprise and hit him so hard he would be sent flying. However, while he was making up ground, Botamo still seemed undamaged from all his blows. He would bounce all around the stage but continue with his assault once recovered. Tenshinhan was progressively losing speed and power and Botamo began to catch the Earthling with his own blows.

The human caught a punch from the alien and, gripping his opponent's arm so he couldn't escape, kicked him in the shin, followed with an elbow strike to the jaw and a headbutt to the nose. Botamo just shrugged off his hits. He then attempted to counter with his free arm by punching Tenshinhan in the face. Luckily, the Earthling barely managed to dodge it and made some distance by jumping backwards and doing multiple and quick successive mid-air backflips.

"This is bad." Roshi, who had been observing the fight carefully this entire time, gave his piece of wisdom: "Tenshinhan's going to run out of stamina at this rate."

"In terms of power, Tenshinhan's stronger, but he's not inflicting any damage to his opponent." Kuririn complemented.

"But man…" Yamcha sighed. "Tenshinhan's really going all-out, huh? This is just a tournament."

"It's more than that." The old turtle sage replied. "Tenshinhan is a real martial artist. He can't afford to lose knowing that he didn't give it his all." His students all understood what he meant. "His pride is at stake."

Vegeta was listening attentively to the Earthlings behind his bench on the stands. Goku took notice and commented: "What do ya think, Vegeta? Any chance Tenshinhan will win?"

"The Earthling's already at his limit. Unless he can knock him out of the ring, this match is as good as done."

"Thought so." Goku crossed his arms, and then very cheekily added: "I guess you were right Vegeta, bringin' Tenshinhan was a waste of a slot, huh?"

After a brief silence, Vegeta spoke: "He fought well." And without further comment, Goku smiled and carried on watching his friend's battle.

Botamo and Tenshinhan were once again engaged in hand-to-hand combat. While the alien appeared undamaged, the Earthling's clothes were tattered and he was bleeding from multiple flesh wounds. In an instant, they both locked hands in the centre of the ring and began charging their Ki. The auras flowed and clashed violently, causing huge gusts of wind that flung the referee backwards. Tenshinhan was getting pushed backwards, but activated the Kaioken times ten in a desperate manoeuvre to boost his strength. In that moment, he shifted the balance of power. He shoved Botamo toward the edge of the ring as his friends cheered him on from the stands, but by the time the two were at the edge, he ran out of steam and could not ring him out.

"Ah! He was so close to pushin' him outta the ring!"

"Tch. He doesn't have any stamina left. He can't finish the job."

The tug of war continued as a stalemate, with the ground starting to crack beneath them, and Tenshinhan progressively exhausting himself from lengthy and continued Kaioken usage. Botamo was able to slowly push Tenshinhan back a few centimetres and began smirking. The martial artist soon began to feel his hands scorched; Botamo had started firing Ki from his palm in order to push the human back. Gritting his teeth, the three-eyed Earthling did the same and started firing Ki out of his palms, attempting to invalidate the edge his opponent was getting.

"I will not lose!" Tenshinhan started screaming and soon his burning red aura instantly expanded to twice its size. "Times twenty!" Shocking Goku, who began to panic over the potential cost to his friend's body, the human's power exploded and fully shattered the ground beneath the two fighters. Concentrating more Ki into his palms, Tenshinhan formed fully powered Ki waves definitively overwhelming Botamo and ramming him against the ground outside of the fighting stage. His opponent bounced multiple times and hit the wall supporting universe six's stands. By the time he realized what had happened, it was already over, the referee had called the winner: "The winner is universe seven's Tenshinhan!" And a few metres ahead of him at the destroyed edge of the stage floated the strongest Earthling, huffing and puffing.

As his red aura returned to its usual crystal white colour, Tenshinhan collapsed. "Ten!" Chaozu flew over to his direction and Goku followed on foot in order to feed him a senzu bean.

"Sorry, Goku." All recovered, Ten picked himself up and gave the Saiyan an apologetic smile. "I was only able to defeat two of our opponents." His friend threw him a comforting smile and a thumbs up. Tenshinhan cheered up and returned to the bench, apologizing to a surprisingly calm Beerus for losing, who knew better than to chastise him for a job well done. Before sitting, Tenshinhan paused and looked sternly at Vegeta. The prideful prince, with a neutral expression, merely nodded in acknowledgement.

"So that's an Earthling… We could have had one if our Earth hadn't been destroyed." Champa commented as Botamo retreated to the bench. The bear sunk into a deep depression after his loss but later on would be seen cheering for his other teammates.

"Tenshinhan sure got strong." Kuririn, along with the others in the stand, had held his breath after Tenshinhan collapsed, praying for the safety of his friend. "I had no idea he was training so hard."

"Me neither." Yamcha replied. "It's actually getting me a bit fired up to train again!"

"I feel the same." Smiling and calling out to his friend on the bench ahead of him, Kuririn congratulated: "Tenshinhan! Great match out there. Let's train together some time!" Tenshinhan paused for a second before showing him a peaceful smile in response.

"Will the next contestants please enter the fighting stage?" The referee called out once Whis and Vados had finished fixing the stage once again. Boo, who had been munching on chocolate for much of the match, realized he was next and skipped to the fighting stage. Backed up by cheers, the loudest of which coming from Mr. Satan, Boo displayed his usual peaceful and childlike smile while waiting for his opponent.

Each step caused a small earthquake that startled everyone in the arena with the exception of Mr. Boo; Magetta had to be careful not to destroy the stairs while ascending to the stage, but once in the centre, the referee could finally introduce both of the fighters: "On the side of universe six, we have the durable metalman, Magetta!"

"Metalman?" Goku questioned. "Isn't he just a robot?"

"Not quite." Piccolo explained. "You can feel his Ki, which means he's a mortal."

"Indeed." The Kaioshin intervened from the stands, causing everyone to look behind. "The Metalman are a race of creatures living deep in the eastern galaxies. They may look like robots because they are covered in Kachin but they have functional organs like us."

"Looks like you did your homework, young'un." The young Kaioshin felt embarrassed being praised by his ancestor, who ironically did not have the slightest clue Metalmen existed.

"Kachin?" Goku gawked, remembering the time the material had broken the Z-Sword. "This one's gonna be tough."

"On the side of universe seven…" The referee continued. "We have Majin Boo!"

Frost's interest in the universe six bench was piqued. "A pink creature… and a majin? It can't be."

"Oooh…" Boo looked up at his opponent and laughed. "You big. Boo hope for a good fight!" His opponent made some incomprehensible robotic sound in response.

"Begin!"
