22. AN: Permanent hiatus - I'm so sorry

Hey all,

First of all, happy holidays! I hope you've had a festive and bright holiday season, wherever you are in the world, and that you're staying healthy in this pandemic. Happy upcoming New Year as well - here's to 2021 being way better than 2020!

I know you were probably hoping for an update, and trust me I wish I had one to give you, but I've unfortunately got nothing. My writer's block on this story has only grown. My main issue is I know where the plot is currently, and I've had the ending written for literal years, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to connect the dots. Trying to figure it out unfortunately will take way more time and energy than I have to give. Life has been, is, and will be crazy, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Which brings me to the bad news. I've decided to put this story on permanent hiatus. Maybe one day, I'll revisit it, but for now, I don't want to give you any more false hope. Y'all have been with me the entire way, and for that I cannot thank you enough. Writing this story has been an incredible source of joy. I read every single comment, even if I don't respond, and I can't be more grateful for your kind words and constructive criticism. That's why it's not fair for me to keep you hanging onto a story I probably will never finish. I'm so, so sorry.

I've also considered putting this fic up for adoption, but that doesn't appeal to me much either. No matter my thoughts on the story now, or lack thereof, it still holds a special place in my heart as my first ever fanfic. I'd like to keep this as it is, but you are totally free to build off of it if you'd like or try to fill in the gaps in a fanfic of your own.

For those who would like to read the last chapter, I'll post it as a separate story soon. It literally skips over the entire climax of this story, though, so read at your discretion.

With that admittedly terrible update, I wish you all the best, and hope one day to see you here again. Until then, take care, and thank you for being the best readers ever.
