This AU follows Izuku Midoriya who never meets All Might or saves Bakugo from the sludge villain. He has grown through high school and still does not seem to have a quirk. Class 1-A and B have continued training and the LOV has proceeded to attack just like in the manga. However, everything that happens during the Overhaul arc has not occurred yet. The characters are just older and time has shifted. It's time to find out what Izuku's been up to all these years...

There will be OC's introduced, special chapters dedicated to other characters, but most of all, Izuku's journey to becoming a hero in his own way. I hope you enjoy it!

Chapter Three – Small Kids, Strong Quirks!

"Izuku Midoriya you're late," Kiho Fujikawa narrowed her gaze at Izuku as he walked in mumbling. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop thinking about Eri. Should he call the hospital and check up on her? No, they shouldn't have arrived yet. Maybe during his lunch break, he could have one of the others drive him there. Or he could try taking a bus into the city… No, that would take too long and he might not make it back in time. Guess a phone call at lunch would be better then. Did hospitals do facetime?

"Midoriya!" Kiho snapped, making Izuku jump as his I.D. slipped out of his hands and fell to the floor.

He looked over at his coworker and felt his cheeks flush red. "Fujikawa? Oh my gosh, you're right, I am late," the realization hit him suddenly as he scrambled for his I.D., not yet realizing that he had dropped it on the floor. He stared at her in surprise. He had no idea Fujikawa had also extended her internship. Izuku remembered hearing she had been accepted to a university overseas in the US, so what was she still doing here?

Kiho rolled her eyes at him and swiped it up from the ground, clocking in for him. "I told you to call me Kiho, remember? I want to get used to doing things the 'American' way before I start school in the fall. Anyway, you're lucky Principal Mori is busy in her office. You know she can't stand it when anyone's late," she crossed her arms over her chest, stepping in front of Izuku after she gave him back the I.D.

"Wait, why are you late?" Kiho paused, raising both her eyebrows at him.

Kiho Fujikawa was Masegaki Elementary's other intern, except unlike Izuku, she was focused on learning all things business at the school. She had spent the past year shadowing everyone on staff, all except him and the other teachers.

Despite being slightly shorter than him, Kiho had the dominating presence of Principal Mori herself. It was hard not to miss her because of her loud voice and short temper, coupled with her bright orange hair and flashy quirk. She had the ability to light up any part of her body as long as she held her breath. During that moment, anyone who touched her would also be burnt by her body temperature if they weren't already blinded.

But Kiho hardly ever used her quirk. Even in school, she had gotten by without it, becoming popular because of her good looks and sassy tongue. Izuku had only seen her use it when there had been a power outage at Masegaki last year and she had had to be the light source for the screaming children. He still remembered what she had told him afterward though when he had called her their hero.

"I didn't do it to be a hero, dude. I could care less about saving and helping others. It's just a stupid quirk that comes in handy sometimes."

The idea had shocked Izuku, especially when he had spent his whole life wishing he had a quirk, but he had never gotten the chance to ask her more about it. They came into work at different times during the previous terms and he would have never been able to approach her at school without the bullies making fun of him for it. She was a popular, rich girl in class and he was the quirkless loser. He wouldn't have been surprised if she also made fun of him when he wasn't around.

"Hello? Earth to Midoriya? Are you just gonna sit there and gawk at my boobs or are you going to answer me?" she smirked and Izuku jumped, turning even redder than he already was. He made an attempt to cover his face awkwardly with his arms but only ended up getting tangled in the straps of his backpack.

"Iwasn'tstaringatyourboobs–" he said quickly. Kiho burst out laughing and hopped up on the desktop, watching him with an amused expression on her face. The secretary on the other end of the room gave her a disapproving glance but said nothing as she continued talking on the phone. "No shit. I don't even have any. I'm flat as hell. Now answer my question Mr. Goody Two-Shoes. According to this report, it says you've never been late to work before," she lifted up a bright green folder from the desk near her leg and waved it around tauntingly.

Izuku averted his gaze, thinking back to the strange encounter he had experienced in the morning. Eri, he thought with a slight frown. Was she really going to be okay?

Kiho scoffed and jumped off the counter after a brief silence, throwing the file back on the desk. "Fine. Don't tell me. Guess they were right about you being weird. You better get to your class if you aren't going to talk to me though. There's a new student on the roster today," she announced.

A new student?

"Sorry, Kiho. I just had a weird morning, but it's nothing interesting, I promise," he bit his bottom lip and continued staring at his red shoes. He wasn't sure if he should tell Kiho about it or anyone. At least not yet. Part of him wanted to run to the authorities, but what exactly would he say?

Just wait until class is over. If she isn't at Hiroo like her dad said then do something.

But would any of it be enough? If the man was some kind of kidnapper, Eri could be long gone by the time Izuku reported any of it. And what did he have as evidence? A nagging suspicion that the masked man was a bad person? He could already hear the police laughing in his face.

If only I had a quirk, I could have been more confident and done something to stop him…

"Hey! What's up with you today Midoriya, jeez. You make me look like the responsible one," Kiho shoved a large packet and clipboard in his hands and Izuku stumbled backward.

"What's this?" he asked, taking it in his hands. It was heavy.

"The handbook for the summer. Look, it's pretty obvious that you're keeping something from me and it's getting annoying, so get to class before I tell Principal Mori you were late because you were too busy staring at my boobs," she pushed him towards the door and then shut it behind him before he could answer. Izuku looked back at the tiny window and watched as Kiho flipped him off and then shut the tiny flap with a smirk.

He stared back down at the handbook which had the class roster stapled over the first page and sighed. Apparently, Principal Mori was right, Kota Izumi had enrolled in the summer course after all.

By the time Izuku rounded the corner, his students were already waiting for him in a messy line. Regardless, all of them shouted at the same time once they saw him:

"Midoriya-sensei! Look, look, it's Midoriya-sensei!"

Before he knew it, all of the kids had rushed over to him and were jumping up and down excitedly.

He couldn't help the smile that appeared on his lips, giving him momentary relief from the tense encounter he had had outside with Eri.

"Good morning everybody! Happy first day of summer school. I can tell you're all really pumped to get started, so let me unlock the classroom and as you come in, tell me one cool thing you're looking forward to learning this month," he slipped the dark green lanyard from his neck and then opened the door. He already knew all of their names by heart, but doing these introductions had become a tradition to get them ready for the day.

"Aoi Nakamura is present sir! I wanna learn more about pro hero Mirko. She's my favorite," the curly-haired girl beamed. Her quirk "Heel Spring" allowed her feet to gain a spring-like nature that let her jump up to three times her height. Each month, Izuku would track her progress and have even gifted her a glittery pink jump rope for her birthday so she could work on preserving her stamina. He would never forget when Nakamura had gotten herself stuck in the ginkgo tree during their second term though. Izuku had had to bring everybody outside and teach class underneath it until the firefighters arrived to get her down.

"I agree, Nakamura. Mirko is quite the powerhouse. If you work hard enough one day, you'll be just like her or even better!" he patted her head and watched her run inside giggling.

One of the taller boys stepped up next. He had slicked-back hair the color of a grey cloud and big blue eyes hidden behind wide-lensed glasses. "Isao Yuda. I want to be able to memorize all the strengths and weaknesses of the heroes we learn about so that I can beat them," Yuda declared, giving Izuku a confident high five and rushing in after Aoi.

His quirk was called "Tricky Compass". Yuda had the ability to change other people's sense of direction if he touched you with his non-dominant hand. Izuku had learned that the hard way after the boy had purposefully given him a high five with his left when they had met. It had taken him thirty minutes to get home because he didn't realize he had been going the wrong way. And as excited as Izuku was to learn more about the quirk, he had still punished Yuda for tricking him, making him write his notes with the same hand that controlled his quirk for the rest of the week.

"Ambitious! I like it Yuda," Izuku called out with a laugh as Sasano approached him next. Izuku was surprised to see him so close to the front of the line today, especially since he was one of the quieter kids. Still, his quirk brought out the best in him. Shigeo Sasano's ability was "Fox" and he was one of the two only mutants in class. His tiny orange ears twitched slightly as he spoke.

"Shigeo S-Sasano and um, I'm not really sure yet but it's nice to see you again sensei," Sasano whispered as he gave Izuku a shy smile and then walked inside with the others. Despite his quiet nature, Sasano's quirk allowed him to excel in the physical activities they did. He was an expert rock climber and loved exploring during recess. Whenever they played games like Hide n' Seek and I-Spy he was always taking first place and surprising everyone. Shiego Sasano was quite a resourceful kid.

"Thank you Sasano. I'm happy to see you too," Izuku returned the smile as more kids approached him. It had only been a couple of days since he had last seen them, but being surrounded by them all again made him realize just how much he had missed them.

One by one, they all re-introduced themselves to him as he marked them present. Even though it had only been a week since they had seen each other, they all seemed taller. It would only be a matter of time until they passed him. The thought made him a bit sad but he immediately perked up when the last student approached him. Yasuko Ezumi. She was the youngest of them all and secretly, his favorite. Izuku crouched down to hear her speak as she wobbled on her tippy toes.

"Hi Mr. Midoriya," she said in her high-pitched voice. Ezumi was the only one who called him that and he found it adorable. "Hi, Ezumi. What are you looking forward to this summer?" he asked ready to catch her if she fell over. Ezumi chewed on her bottom lip for a while, puffing out her cheeks cutely.

"Hmmm. Well, I think that I really, really want to learn how to be a teacher just like you Mr. Midoriya!" she finished, bouncing up and down in place excitedly. Izuku chuckled and shook his head. She always said the same thing. Either that or that she wanted to go live with the elephants she had seen in the zoo during her science field trip last year.

"Ezumi! Come sit next to me," one of the other girls, Okumura, called out and Izuku watched Ezumi stumble inside with her stuffed elephant in one hand, and her small green lunchbox in the other. It was the color of his hair.

Ezumi, like him, was quirkless. She was the only one in the whole class without a quirk and Izuku had made it a mission to protect her. However, Ezumi had impressed him. No matter what the kids had said about her on the first day, she never seemed to care. Of course, now he had taught them all to never single out someone who was different, but he wondered if he would have even needed to teach them that since Ezumi was so brave. She was really smart too and had moved up a level to be with the other big kids. Even if she had never expressed a desire to become a hero, Izuku still found himself doodling a costume for her during his free time. He was almost done with it too and couldn't wait to show her.

Once Ezumi had entered the room, Izuku stood up and looked at all of the kids who had taken their seats and were chatting inside. All except one. From the corner of his eyes, Izuku noticed a boy who had to be about 9 or 10 years old, hiding behind an older girl's legs. She had vibrant red hair cut into a perfect bob and was dressed in professional attire. The two didn't look like each other but Izuku figured she must have been some kind of relative. As he walked over though, he started to realize that the girl looked familiar.

"No way, you're pro hero Mandalay from the Wild, Wild Pussycats!" he gripped the attendance clipboard nervously. Mandalay giggled and Izuku cleared his throat, turning a little red.

Calm down fanboy, you're not twelve anymore, he scolded himself and extended out his hand. Still, he couldn't help the excitement that was rising in his chest. This was his first official meeting with a pro. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's really great to finally meet you in person. I see you on TV a lot. Especially after what happened three years ago at the camp," Izuku added quietly.

Mandalay tucked a strand of red hair behind her ear and shook his hand happily. "Nice to meet you too, Midoriya. But please, call me Sosaki, and feel free to call Kota by his first name too! I'm currently taking a break from being Mandalay as I watch him," she nudged at the boy's shoulder but he didn't move. Midoriya looked over at him curiously and was about to extend his hand when the boy shot him an icy glare.

"Sorry about his attitude though. It takes a while for him to open up to people, trust me I've been trying for years and I'm his aunt," Sosaki whispered the last part in Izuku's ear and then cleared her throat.

"But that's why I decided to bring him here. Kota spends a lot of time inside and I thought it would be great for him to be around other kids his age this summer. He's been homeschooled all his life and what better way to prepare him for public school than a summer course in Masegaki," Sosaki beamed.

Izuku grinned. "What made you choose Masegaki?" he asked curiously.

Sosaki threw her head back and laughed, smacking him on the shoulder lightly. Izuku stumbled back a little with surprise but laughed too, more out of nervousness than anything else. She was stronger than she looked. "Because of you, duh. Principal Mori is a close friend of my mom's and she's always telling us about the crazy intern who teaches little kids about heroes. I thought it would be great if Kota learns from the best since Mori thinks you're so good at your job," Sosaki grinned.

Izuku blinked. Me? The best? Do they really think that about me? He wondered, staring up at her in awe.

"Although I will admit, I was a little disappointed when I found out you were eighteen. I kind of have a thing for teachers and I'm still horribly single you see," Sosaki pouted with a slight sigh but perked back up again as she shoved Kota towards Izuku who had turned into a human tomato.

Then, she bent down and pinched Kota's cheeks. "You be good today, okay? Maybe Midoriya can teach you all about your parents," she added, giving his forehead a smooch and then standing back up to smooth out her pencil skirt.

"His parents?" Izuku asked curiously. Sosaki was about to answer when Kota pushed past him and made his way over to the classroom. "I don't care about them, so don't bother," he called out before he disappeared inside.

Izuku frowned and watched him go. He turned back to look at Sosaki who was no longer smiling. She was watching the floor with a sad expression on her face, fumbling with the hem of her cardigan. "The Water Hose Duo. They died many years ago in battle and Kota thinks they abandoned him. Please teach him about heroes, Midoriya. I'm worried about his future. Who he will become," Sosaki shook her head and looked up at him. Izuku nodded, gripping the clipboard tightly again. It all must have been too much for Kota to handle.

"I'll do my best Manda– I mean Sosaki," he blushed slightly and Sosaki's smile returned. She reached over and pinched his cheek as she had done with Kota. "Thank you," she whispered and then straightened her posture, giving him a slight nod.

"I will be back to pick him up as soon as class ends. If there's anything you need from me before then though, please don't hesitate to call," she slipped a small piece of paper in his hands and then waved. "Good luck!" Sosaki winked as she rushed off, her heels click-clacking on the wooden floor.

Izuku put the piece of paper in his pocket and then waved back. "Bye! It was such a pleasure to have met you, see you…" his voice faded as she rounded the corner. Izuku felt his hand drop and he found himself staring at the ground now too. He knew he should have felt happy, but now that Mandalay was gone, all he could think about again was Eri.

"Midoriya-sensei!" one of the kids called out and Izuku looked back, giving Nakamura a smile as her face appeared in the doorway. She already had paint all over her forehead and mouth.

"I'm coming, I'm coming," Izuku sighed with a smile as he walked in after her and shut the door behind him. It was going to be a long day.

Quirk Recap (I'll try to do this when more OC characters with quirks come up so that it is easier to keep track of everyone! Please let me know if you also want me to do this with the characters that already exist too like Overhaul, Eri, and Mandalay):

Name: Kaede Mori or Principal Mori

Quirk: Resiliency

Quirk Description: Mori can bend almost any object by tapping it with either of her two index fingers. She can also revert the object back to its original state by tapping it again with the same finger she used in the beginning. Her range is limited to small-scale items and they have to weigh less than her or it won't work.

Name: Kiho Fujikawa

Quirk: Flash

Quirk Description: Fujikawa can make her whole body light up. The light produced from her body is usually so bright that it can be seen miles away or blind anyone who stares at it for too long. If someone touches her while she is in this state, they can also get badly burnt. The only condition is that she has to hold her breath while doing it. Fujikawa can also light up small parts of her body and decrease the light that is projected. Izuku doesn't know enough about her quirk however to say much else.

Name: Aoi Nakamura

Quirk: Heel Spring

Quirk Description: Nakamura has a transformation type quirk that turns the bottom of her feet into springs. When activated, she can jump up to 12 feet with continuous jumps, or save up power and reach 25 feet in a single leap. She tends to use up her stamina throughout the day by jumping a lot because she gets excited easily. Nakamura has yet to learn how to activate her quirk with only one foot touching the ground.

Name: Isao Yuda

Quirk: Tricky Compass

Quirk Description: Yuda's quirk allows him to disorient his victims by touching them with his non-dominant hand (the left). The effects have been known to last 20 minutes, sometimes more. His quirk tricks your brain into thinking you are going in the right direction, when in reality, you are moving further away from your destination. It hasn't been tested yet, but Izuku has a hunch that Yuda can also affect the way people perceive time.

Name: Shigeo Sasano

Quirk: Fox

Quirk Description: Sasano has a mutant quirk which allows him to do pretty much whatever a fox can. He is an expert rock climber, can hide from others, think through tricky situations, and is very resourceful. Izuku is trying to break him out of his shell so that he can explore his physical abilities as well, such as using his sharp teeth and claws. Sasano thrives in outdoor environments and works best on his own.

Name: Yasuko Ezumi

Quirk: Quirkless

Quirk Description: Even though Ezumi doesn't have a quirk, she's the smartest student in Izuku's class. She is a natural-born leader and the other students often go to her for help during tricky situations. Ezumi also has a passion for wildlife, specifically elephants. She says she wants to become either a teacher like Izuku or a vet when she grows up.

Anyway, thanks for reading everyone! I was so excited to write and felt extra inspired so here's another new chapter. I really hope you love all of my OC characters. Tell me which super kid is your favorite? I'd love to know! Right now Sasano has my heart. There are more quirks to come, so stick around for that in the next chapter.

Thanks for your lovely comments as well. I love learning new things, it really helps as I write. Next time we will follow Izuku as he looks for Eri! Will he find her? See you soon :)
