This AU follows Izuku Midoriya who never meets All Might or saves Bakugo from the sludge villain. He has grown through high school and still does not seem to have a quirk. Class 1-A and B have continued training and the LOV has proceeded to attack just like in the manga. However, everything that happens during the Overhaul arc has not occurred yet. The characters are just older and time has shifted. It's time to find out what Izuku's been up to all these years...

There will be OC's introduced, special chapters dedicated to other characters, but most of all, Izuku's journey to becoming a hero in his own way. I hope you enjoy it!

Chapter Four – Interlude with a Villain: Enter Jun Hanato

[TW: abuse, alcoholism, suicidal ideations]

"Did you hear?"

"What?"

"About Hanato?"

"Jun Hanato? The guy who sits in the back and never talks to anyone?"

"Yeah. Apparently, his dad showed up really drunk to a conference yesterday and harassed a teacher."

"That must've been so embarrassing for him…"

"Ugh I know right. He's probably going to end up just like his dad one day though. We should stay away."

"Oh my god shut up, isn't that him right there?"

Jun remembered those words vividly because it was the day he had been reborn.

He had wanted nothing better than to reach out and beg for forgiveness at that moment though. To tell them that he was nothing like his father and that they could be his friend. That they could trust him. But he had kept his mouth shut and kept walking.

Jun was only at the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall to steal another pair of shoes for his 'business'. Because he was an alcoholic, Jun's father, Masahiro Hanato, spent all his money on booze and adult magazines. Which meant Jun had to do something to make a living for them, especially since his dad had stopped showing up to work. That meant stealing and reselling. His quirk made it easy for him to do so without getting caught.

He also used his dad as motivation. If there wasn't any food on the table by the time Masahiro came home, Jun would suffer the consequences. His body was proof of that.

But Jun was tired. Tired of wondering when his dad would finally kill him or when the cops would finally catch him stealing. Tired of hearing all the rumors and insults thrown his way. Tired of the disapproving glances after he filled yet another trash bin outside with empty liquor bottles. They're not mine, please help me, he always wanted to scream, but Jun was too tired to say anything to anyone at all.

If it hadn't been for the man he had run into after spotting a nice pair of shoes in the distance, Jun would have killed himself.

Well, at first he had thought it was a man. But once he used his quirk, Jun figured out it was actually a woman. A girl, probably around 20. Her quirk seemed to give her the power to turn into anyone as long as she ingested their blood, and judging by the amount of strange blood coming from her body, she had probably taken enough to kill the person she was posing as.

His quirk, GPS, allowed him to figure out the quirks of those around him within a 25-mile radius. And if he was 5 feet from a person, he could determine the quirk's power level. It wasn't the most powerful ability but it let him figure out which areas were better to steal from. The fewer heroes and people with strong quirks around, the better his chances of avoiding a beating from his drunk father.

She must be a villain. The thought crossed his mind and before he could stop himself, Jun had reached out to stop her.

"Your quirk lets you turn into other people right? Can you do me a favor and steal that pair of shoes for me? I can't afford to get caught here with so many people around," he had asked, fully aware that she could have killed him. But the girl had just stared back at him with a stunned expression on her male face and then smiled creepily.

To this day, Jun still didn't know why he talked to her and told her that he knew her secret. Or why he had accepted her later offer to meet some of her "friends".

But whenever he walked into the League of Villain's hideout, he knew he had made the right choice. It had been a year since the mall incident but Jun always thought about it, especially when he was about to go on a new mission. And today was no exception.

The League of Villains had given him a second chance at life. Tomura Shigaraki specifically, after he offered Jun a chance to stay with them. He had told him that they needed him. That his quirk was useful. Finally. Someone thought he was important. Someone saw that he was an individual person. Someone was saying his name and wasn't mentioning his father.

The League tested out his loyalty for the first couple of weeks and gave him difficult jobs that threatened his life each and every time, but Jun had already been prepared to die anyway. Giving him a chance to prove his worth was the least they could do for him and he understood that. It motivated him to work harder and become a better fighter. That and his desire to impress them, to make Shigaraki proud.

Soon, Jun started landing them deals with black market businessmen, planning out escape routes that involved avoiding heroes with powerful quirks, and expanding their members by tracking down anyone in the area that showed potential.

By the end of his senior year, he was officially a member of the League. And it was all because of Shigaraki. Jun found himself drawn to his boss more than the others seemed to be. He couldn't help but want to be near him. Whenever Shigaraki called his name or gave him a new assignment, June would get excited and grow hungry to prove himself. Just so Shigaraki could call out his name again and again and again. It was a strange feeling, but it made Jun realize that he needed more. He needed Shigaraki as reassurance, to be able to just look at his face and recover. To remember why he was still alive.

So Jun started taking pictures of him. He had thought about the possibility that the others knew what he was doing, but no one ever said anything about it. Not even Toga. Not that they needed to. He did his job and proved his loyalty. As long as he kept doing that, what he did in his free time didn't matter. A couple of photos wouldn't hurt.

The pictures always varied. Shigaraki sleeping, Shigaraki walking, Shigaraki getting undressed — Jun felt his knees go weak as he stumbled into his apartment complex. It was still the same one he used to share with his father, Masahiro. And there he was, bones and all, a rotting corpse in the corner of the room. Unmoved since the day Jun had killed him. On top of his remains though, was Jun's most prized possession: a shrine dedicated to Tomura Shigaraki.

"I'm home," Jun smiled at the shrine, walking over to the area that was lit up by various dripping candles. He didn't bother taking off his shoes and started pinning up the new photos he had taken over the weekend. His personal favorite was when Shigaraki had taken off his father's hand, the one in the middle of his face. It had finally allowed him to see more of him.

Jun reached down and purposefully pricked his finger on a thumbtack.

"I won't let you down," he whispered to the most recent photo he pinned in the middle, and then, with the blood on his hand, started writing his initials next to every image on the wall until it was smeared everywhere. Then, he got up, wiped his hands on his white dress shirt, and switched out the batteries of his tape recorder on the desk next to him. He always carried it with him whenever he went on missions.

As he got up to leave and placed the headphones over his ears, Jun pressed play and Shigaraki's voice started playing. Recordings of the rare times he acknowledged him.

Very good Hanato. You did well. We need you. Make sure to stay alive.

It had been five hours since he had heard his raspy voice and Jun needed it to stay alive. His missions were never as dangerous as the one's Dabi, Twice, or Toga got, but it was so easy for him to lose himself and slip back to his old, depressive ways. Shigaraki was the only one who could keep him sane.

With that thought, Jun put on an oversized grey sweater and set off to the target location, an area called Musutafu. Shigaraki had been bitter lately following their alliance with the Hassaikai, but things were about to change. With their next plan, Shigaraki was sure to surpass Overhaul. They wouldn't even need him anymore. And maybe then Jun would get to see him smile again. But that would come later. For now, he would focus on the task at hand and do everything possible to execute it perfectly.

Quirk Recap time!

Name: Jun Hanato

Quirk Name: GPS

Quirk Description: Hanato can identify the quirks of everyone around him in a 25-mile radius. Once he is 5 feet away from a person, Hanato can also gauge their power level. The more he talks to his target, the more he can learn about the potential of their quirk and determine whether or not it will evolve into something useful. However, once he chooses someone to analyze, he can no longer sense the others around him.

Hi everyone, thanks for reading :) I took a brief break from writing through Izuku's POV to give you a little bit of more info on one of the villain's perspectives. I have a lot of plans for developing Jun. Right now, he's obsessed with Shigaraki because he's the only person who has ever shown him any type of attention that isn't bad. I also think his quirk serves as a game-changer and will prove to be a problem once the action begins. This is also a sneak peek at what the League is planning. Shiggy is basically fed up with being overshadowed by Overhaul so he decides to change that ;)

Also, I wanted to ask about the lengths of the chapters. How do you feel about them so far? Mine have usually varied but I don't want to make anything too long or short.

The next update will be on Saturday and will go back to Izuku and also maybe someone else we haven't met yet *wink wink*. See you then!
