This AU follows Izuku Midoriya who never meets All Might or saves Bakugo from the sludge villain. He has grown through high school and still does not seem to have a quirk. Class 1-A and B have continued training and the LOV has proceeded to attack just like in the manga. However, everything that happens during the Overhaul arc has not occurred yet. The characters are just older and time has shifted. It's time to find out what Izuku's been up to all these years...
There will be OC's introduced, special chapters dedicated to other characters, but most of all, Izuku's journey to becoming a hero in his own way. I hope you enjoy it!
Chapter Six: Class Fight!
"You're late. Again!" Kiho frowned as Izuku stumbled into work the next morning. He hadn't slept all night and had already downed three cups of coffee before heading over. He held the fourth mug in his right hand shakily. Izuku felt like he was going to pass out every time he blinked.
"I know. I feel really bad about it but I forgot to set my alarm and, wow there are three of you now," Izuku breathed as he stared at Kiho, trying to figure out which apparition was the real girl.
Kiho's frown deepened and she grabbed the mug from his hands. "Okay, that's enough coffee for today. Just give me your I.D. and I'll clock in for you. The brats are waiting inside," she held out her hand expectantly.
My I.D.? Izuku looked down at his lanyard where his badge usually hung but it wasn't there. He quickly looked back at Kiho who raised an eyebrow at him.
"I think I forgot it at home," Izuku said.
Kiho groaned and started frantically typing something at her computer. "What's your birthday?"
Izuku frowned, trying to remember. "Uh, July 15th, 2005," he stammered, hesitating a little bit. Wait, was it the 15th or the 16th? His head hurt so bad he wasn't sure anymore. Maybe he shouldn't have taken the painkillers too…
"Got it," Kiho called out, aggressively typing something else and then pulling up what looked to be his file. Izuku's embarrassing I.D. card photo popped up on screen and he cringed.
"Okay. 1-1-2-B-9…" Kiho started typing the numbers in another page. Then she turned around and gasped.
"Midoriya, what the hell are you still doing here?! I said I got it, now get to class before Mori comes back," Kiho hissed, shooing him away. This time, she forgot to give him his attendance sheet before slamming the door. Izuku was about to knock and ask for it, but she had already slid it under the door.
"Thank you," he said quietly, watching Kiho at the computer from the little window in the door. It took all his strength to crouch down and pick it up, but eventually it was in his hands.
Before he knew it, he was standing in front of his students while they patiently waited for him to start the morning lesson. "G–good morning everyone. I know we normally do high fives and attendance but today we're just going to move into the activity," Izuku explained, trying not to fall over. His legs felt like mush but he didn't want to sit back down before handing out the worksheets. He wasn't sure he'd be able to get back up again.
Izuku knew he should lecture them about why their actions yesterday had been unacceptable, but he was having trouble remembering what exactly had occurred.
"Um, Mr. Midoriya sir…" Ezumi's hand shot up in the air. Izuku looked over at her and gave her a tired smile. "What is it Ezumi?" She looked nothing like Eri, but the more he stared at her, the more he felt the urge to hug her and keep her safe. Last night, the possibility of his students getting kidnapped had crossed his mind too. What if that man came back for one of them? How was Izuku going to protect them when he hadn't been able to do anything for Eri?
"Are you still mad at us because of Wada?" she asked, her chubby face scrunched up in worry. The others watched him closely, waiting for an answer too. Everyone except Kota whose head was down.
"Hey, he started it!" Izanagi Wada frowned, pointing at Kota.
"Nuh, uhhhh. You said you were tired of him saying mean stuff about heroes so you threw paint first!" Ezumi cried.
Wada shook his head. "Fine, yeah! But only because I wasn't gonna let him talk about my mom that way," he crossed his arms over his chest. Kota lifted up his head and glared at him.
Izuku sighed. "Everybody quiet down, please. I just had a hard time sleeping last night. Which is why I need you all to be on your best behavior today," he added, but no one seemed to have heard him.
"Your mom sucks Wada. She's not a hero, she's a loser," Kota yelled.
"Oooooh! Kota said your mom sucks!" someone said.
"What are you gonna do Wada? Are you gonna beat him up?" another asked.
"Kota, you're so mean! Why don't you like heroes?" Nakamura frowned from the other side of the room, but Wada was already on his way to Kota's table.
Izuku frowned. Izanagi Wada was one of the more troublesome kids in class. Although Izuku knew he meant well, Wada had no filter. Yesterday, he had started the paint war against Kota but Izuku had a bad feeling about today.
Wada's quirk was called "Chop" and allowed his hands to turn knife-like and act as slicing machines, capable of cutting through wood and vegetables. Those were the only things Izuku had allowed him to test them on. However, he knew that with practice and time, Wada's hands would become sharp enough to cut through sturdier things and possibly people.
The image of Wada cutting through others made him quickly stand up, despite the pain in his legs. "Boys. Stop messing around. Wada, go back to your seat," he called out, but Wada ignored him.
The younger boy arrived at Kota's desk and slammed his hands on the table. "Say you're sorry!" he demanded.
Kota rolled his eyes and stood up too, slamming his hands back and getting in Wada's face. "Your. Mom. Sucks!" he repeated even more viciously than before.
The next few seconds were a blur but Izuku managed to pull Wada back before his hand sliced off Kota's fingers. He was unable to save the desk though and watched it split in two.
Everyone went silent. Then Ezumi started to cry.
Izuku held onto Wada tightly. He didn't know who was shaking harder, him or the younger boy. But Izuku felt like his heart was going to pop out of his chest. "Both of you, outside. Now!" he yelled.
—
"Thank you so much for your patience Mr. Midoriya. Again, I'm really sorry about my son. With the rise in villain attacks, his mom hasn't been coming home very much lately and he can probably sense that we're all really stressed about her," Wada's dad explained as he sat across from Izuku.
Wada's mom was the rescue hero called Safety Slice. Instead of slicing just with her hands like Wada, her quirk allowed her to sharpen both arms. She was an essential part of the Tokyo Rescue Team of Heroes, especially when civilians were trapped in hard to reach places only she could get through. She was so busy that Izuku had never even met her before. He only heard about her because Wada talked about her all the time in class.
Izuku nodded slowly. "Of course sir. Wada's a good kid, I can tell. He just can't control himself sometimes and well… today was one of those days," he sighed.
This is all my fault, Izuku thought. If I hadn't been so distracted and sleep-deprived, I would have been able to stop things sooner…
"About the desk…" his father began, but Izuku shook his head.
"Don't worry about it. The school will just get a new one. As long as no one was hurt, everything is fine," he forced a smile.
Mr. Wada bit his bottom lip. He didn't seem convinced but didn't say anything else either. "Alright, well, I'm going to keep Izanagi at home for a couple of days to help him cool off. Feel free to email me any worksheets so he can catch up," Mr. Wada stood up.
"Actually, I'd suggest he take a break from all things quirk-related for a while. It might be a trigger and cause him great distress," Izuku added.
He thought back to the terrified expression on Wada's face after the desk had split in two. That was probably the first time he had ever sliced something so big or done something so dangerous. Izuku turned and watched Wada from the window. He was sitting on the swingset outside, his older sister next to him.
"Well, I better get going. I have to start on dinner. My wife won't even be able to cook once she hears what happened," Mr. Wada shook his head and started walking towards the door. Izuku followed after him, fumbling with his hands behind his back.
"Have a nice day Mr. Midoriya. I'll call up the school and tell them about Izanagi's absence. See you next week," he waved and then left the classroom.
Izuku let his body slump against the door. He still needed to talk to Mandalay about Kota, but he was glad she had suggested they do it over the weekend instead.
"Am I really cut out for this job?" Izuku wondered aloud quietly.
So far, he had managed to control the children and keep them from hurting each other. But what was going to happen when he got someone he couldn't handle? They were only kids. They didn't know any better. And he had no power to stop them. If Wada's quirk had involved something that didn't let Izuku reach him in time… he didn't even want to think about what could have happened to Kota.
As much as he wanted to sit around and think about a solution though, he had to take advantage of the circumstances. Although he had no energy, Izuku had sent everyone home early today after the incident, which meant he could start his search for Eri. He knew the police would be no help, so he would have to take matters into his own hands.
Where? He had no idea. But he figured it wouldn't hurt to ask around. Maybe he could even find some more information about the older guy that was with her. Surely someone else had run into them. Izuku had stayed up analyzing the situation so much that he started to notice things that stood out from the encounter that would make the search somewhat easier.
First of all, if Eri had been running away from the man who claimed to be her dad, then she shouldn't have gone far from where he had been keeping her. This was because one, she was badly hurt, and two, if what the "dad" was saying was true, and Eri really was important to him, he wouldn't have let her go missing for more than a couple of days. She wouldn't have been able to go far.
And second of all, Musutafu was close to the hills. Back when Izuku had started going on morning runs, he realized he had to be in top condition to jog up the steep area. No hurt ten year old would ever be able to go up there without a really strong quirk. That meant that Eri must have come from the downhill direction. Unless of course her quirk was really powerful, but Izuku figured she was too hurt to use it.
Izuku also realized he had more information than he thought after he finished drawing sketches of Eri and her captor. The mask was a big one. It seemed custom made, Izuku would definitely be checking out the shops in town. While he didn't think Eri's "dad" would have carelessly gotten his mask made at one of those places, it wouldn't hurt to look around.
Then there was Eri's horn. From what Izuku knew of quirks and his studies, a mother and father's quirk appearance often got passed down to their child. He needed to check the phone registry and find out if anyone looked like Eri or had filed a missing child report recently too. It would be harder to do this without the police to help, but Izuku was determined to find a way to track people living in the area. Even if it meant he had to go door-to-door to check.
And finally, the sticker.
Izuku thought back to when he had given it to Eri; her captor had claimed that she didn't like stickers. But Izuku had to put himself in his shoes. Surely there was a reason the man knew she didn't like them. He must have tried to give them to her before, along with other things he believed ten year old little girls would have liked.
And that meant that Izuku had to visit all the toy shops in the city and ask if anyone had seen that man or child enter the store. He might've gone there with Eri to take suspicion off himself or something. It would have made him seem like a "good" father or whatever.
Even if these connections were farfetched, he had to try something.
So with that thought in mind, Izuku started packing up his stuff to head to the library. He was determined to do everything on a public computer to avoid anyone tracing his steps. The last thing Izuku wanted to do was attract any unwanted attention to himself, especially after verbally doubting Eri's captor. Plus, if Eri managed to escape again, he could even run into her the more he went outside. His heart jumped at the possibility, but as he exited the classroom, Izuku tried not to get his hopes up either.
Just as he was about to leave the building however, Kiho stopped him.
"Yo Midoriya!"
She jumped over the desk with ease and landed directly in front of Izuku.
"Oh, Fuji– Kiho, hi. What's up?" Izuku asked with a slight smile. Kiho has usually gone home by now so he found it odd that she was still around.
"Some guy came by and dropped this off. Said he found it on the ground near Hiroo Hospital yesterday," Kiho threw something at Izuku and he barely caught it. Once it was in his hands, he realized it was his I.D.
Izuku's eyes widened. "No way!" he gripped it tightly in his hands as if it was going to disappear. Izuku was in such a hurry yesterday, he must've dropped it without realizing it.
"I know. You got lucky. Mori would have lost it if she found out yours was missing. Especially because of all the attacks that have been happening in the area," she added.
Izuku nodded quickly. "Ah, yeah. I need to be more careful."
He gripped the I.D. tightly in his hand until the edges painfully dug into his skin. If a villain would have found it, they could have used it to enter the school, putting everyone inside at risk.
What's wrong with me? I can't keep messing up like this. Eri's already in danger and I don't want to be the reason my students suffer too. Should I just let the police handle this then? Izuku considered, with a frown.
Kiho watched him carefully. "Midoriya."
He jumped slightly. "Yeah?"
Kiho narrowed her gaze at him but then shook her head. "Nothing. Just make sure to get some sleep, okay? I don't know what's been going on with you lately, but I can't keep covering for you all the time," and with that, she disappeared outside. Izuku watched her go and quickly stuffed his I.D. into his pocket.
"Got it," he said quietly, still staring at the spot where she had been standing.
I'll do what I can. I have to. For Eri, for everyone. I can do this, he decided and then took off.

Quirk Recap
Name: Izanagi Wada
Quirk Name: Chop
Quirk Description: Wada can use his hands like knives to cut through various objects. So far, he is able to slice through vegetables and small items, but Izuku believes his hands will sharpen as he grows. The interesting thing about Chop is that when it is being used, Wada's hands don't change at all, making it the ultimate secret weapon! The quirk is activated when he connects all his fingers together and varies in power based on the angle of his chop.
Name: Aika Wada
Hero Name: Safety Slice
Quirk Name: Arm Blades
Quirk Description: Wada's mother has the ability to turn her arms into literal blades. Her quirk has amazing offensive potential, but she has dedicated sharpening her arms for rescue work only. Aika's blades are activated when she tucks her thumb into her palms and must keep them there while using her quirk.

Surprise! Here's another chapter. Slightly shorter than the last, but it sets up some of the juicier things that are going to start happening soon. Thanks so much for reading. (Had to reupload because I messed up Kota's name, thanks for noticing that chibi LOL)
