Don't do anything stupid.
Something inside of Tommy clicked, a rage inside of him where his heart once beat. Kimberly was gone, off on the arm of some sick bastard that he was sure always got his way. What the fuck had happened to him? Why did he freeze? Why did the sight of a gun leave him obeying orders like he hadn't once been the one giving them? How could he let her leave?
"Don't do anything stupid," he told himself as he watched the rest of the men remove the guns from his best friends heads.
Tommy could be impulsive at times, but without a doubt he wasn't going to mess this up. If something happened to them because of him then that would be something he would carry for the rest of his life.
Still, the thought that Kimberly was gone and with someone that was certain to not keep his slimy hands to himself left him stewing in place. He had to get her back… and he wasn't quite sure in what way he meant just yet.
Once the armored men left, Tommy could feel the heat on his ears subsiding, but only slightly.
Jason let out a deep exhale, his brain still trying to catch up with everything going on around him, "What was that?"
"I think we were threatened," Adam answered, feeling a trembling in his stomach.
"Oh, God!" Tiffany felt the tears roll down her cheeks, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, Billy took action. He stepped towards her and pulled her into his arms. What possessed him to do that? Who know? Who cares? All that mattered is that he felt like something to someone for the first time in a very long time.
"It'll be okay," Billy whispered into her ear, stroking the back of her long brown hair.
Tiffany shook her head on Billy's chest, "No, it's not okay. Kimberly will kill him.. and then they will find her."
Zack's ears perked up, "Who's they?"
Tiffany stared at him for a moment, every muscle in her body quivering.
"Grace," She whispered. She pulled back from Billy, "I'm sorry, I can't say more."
And with that, she went inside, leaving the guys in the back lot alone.
Jason looked up at the mention of that name… he knew exactly what she was talking about.
Tommy stood blankly, his eyes trained on the spot where the cars once sat. She was gone… Just like that. And it left him with a void he didn't know how to fill.
"Tommy?" Rocky spoke up, catching the former green rangers attention, "what do we do?"
Tommy wasn't quite sure why they all turned to look at him. Why not Jason, who in his 3 years of leadership never once failed a mission? Tommy had failed… a lot. He failed when their zords had been destroyed, he failed to save the Command Center before they got their Zeo powers, he failed to save Zordon, but now, they all looked to him for guidance? This was just another failure to add to his list of fuck-ups.
"I don't know," Tommy murmured, his tone the definition of defeat.
Zack blinked, unsure if he had heard those words correctly, "You don't know? What do you mean you don't know?"
Tommy buried his hands in his pocket before kicking a rock on the ground to release some tension. He didn't know. He never knew when it came to Kimberly. She was the voice in the back of his mind that held him back from making stupid decisions ninety percent of the time, she was the whisper in his ears that told him to slow down on the freeway, the one that told him to stop and think before he did something stupid, the one that had been nagging in his head telling him that marrying Katherine was all wrong. She had been there with him, in his conscience, for the last several years.
Jason shook his head, knowing exactly the pit Tommy was in.
"Hey," Jason said gently.
Tommy didn't return anything verbally, but gave Jason a direct look that told him everything.
"We're gonna get her back, man," Jason told his best friend, but Tommy didn't react. Almost as if those words couldn't possibly be true.
"You know that for sure?" Tommy turned to him, the weight of defeat still heavy on his chest.
Jason sighed, the pain on his side feeling like nothing compared to the ache in his heart. She was still like a sister to him, no matter what. It all made sense to him now.. the secrets, the silence, the club… why had it taken him this long? He should have known this is what she had gotten herself into when they went scuba diving all of those years ago. She was holding back that day and he thought it was because of Katherine, but now he knew why for sure. God, if only he remembered the night before!
"I can't take the risk that something will happen to her," Tommy whispered.
It was all too much. The last couple of hours have been a near dream. Nothing seemed real, but having that gun pointed at his face seemed like an alarm, blaring at him to wake up.
"Kim, can handle herself," Jason told him confidently, "I know she can."
"Why is everyone turning to me?" Tommy bit down on his cheek, "I don't know what I'm doing half of the time… why not you?"
Jason gave a small smile, "Because when it comes to Kim, you always have the answers."
Tommy shook his head. "Why is it always her? Do you know how many times she's been taken and I just let it happen?"
That wasn't true and Jason knew it. Rita and Zedd knew where to hit when it came to Tommy. Hurt the leader and they would dismantle the team. Tommy had an Achilles heel… Kimberly.
"But you always get her back."
"… you've never failed," Tommy told him and Jason looked at him as though that had been the biggest lie spoken out on into the universe.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Jason nearly burst out laughing, "Are you forgetting about the biggest fuck up I've ever had? Do I need to remind you about a certain green candle I failed to extinguish?"
Tommy tried to bury that deep with all of his other memories that were too painful to remember.
"I guess we are pretty similar," Tommy said, nudging his friend with his shoulder.
Zack stepped up into the meeting set for two, "So what's happening? Are we kicking ass today as a team or do I have to go on a solo mission?"
Tommy chuckled, placing his hands on his hips.
"Adam and I were discussing on going on a little forever black mission since you assholes failed to invite us on your little adventure last month," Zack smiled, placing a firm arm around Tommy's shoulders.
"You know that would include me, right?" Jason return, a quirk moving up his lips.
Zack rolled his eyes, "You were gold! That doesn't count."
Tommy remained silent, envious for only a moment that he never got to wear black before.
"So, what's it gonna be?" Adam walked over to them, "Are we in this?"
Tommy turned back to Billy and Rocky who were walking towards the growing group.
"We're in this," Tommy nodded, feeling just a little bit lighter after having his little talk with Jason.
Now the question would be how they were going to get Kimberly out of the mess she had gotten herself into.
"I missed you," Vinny whispered in Kimberly's ear, his tongue close enough to touch her.
Gross.
She swallowed the need to vomit in place. Everything about him was revolting; The way he dressed, his stupid hair, the expensive cologne he wore too much of. Everything had been handed to him as a child, and now he felt he deserved the world. He was disgusting and manipulative, and he hurt people for the fun of it.
He touched the smooth skin on her upper arm, stroking it with his thumb as he wrapped a heavy arm around her.
The car ride back to his penthouse was mixed with bumper to bumper traffic, each stop prolonging the inevitable death she was planning for him in her head. She didn't want to do it, but he was leaving her no choice. There was no way in hell that he would let her walk out the door willingly, so she was going to give him no option.
She needed Vinny alive, and she was sure killing him would get her in a hell of a lot of trouble, but screw it. He couldn't threaten her friends and get away with it. He had to go.
"Did you miss me," He breathed into her neck, planting kisses that had her squirming on the inside.
Kimberly nodded, although she didn't mean it. She missed Rita more than this fuck. It took all of her years of training to put herself in a meditation that would allow the world to disappear. The black room in her head put her in a nirvana, a place where anything was possible.
"Do you want to know what I'm gonna do to you once we get back to my place?" Vinny continued his trail of kisses around Kimberly, his lips moving up to her cheek.
Did he want to know what she was going to do to him if he didn't stop touching her?
She turned to him, her smile strained as she fought to control herself, "I can only imagine."
Luckily the drive to the Bellagio wasn't too far and they were in his room before she knew what to do next. The suite was bigger than the one the guys had gotten at Caesars palace. He walked her towards the bedroom where he certainly wanted to do something besides sleep. That thought nearly killed her.
She had to play along if she was going to get him alone. No matter how much she wanted to get out, no matter how badly she wished that it was Tommy in there instead of Vinny, no matter how many tears she shed on the insane for choosing to leave Angel Grove in the first place.
Fuck 'Gunther Schmidt' and his pack of lies and empty promises.
"Come on, Kandi," Vinny gave her a grin, tipping her chin, "you're not mad because of what happened at the club, are you?"
Kandi wasn't her name. Kandi was a good little girl that followed orders from scum like Jerry, she was obedient, rough around the edges, aimed to please, and did anything to get someone off. Kandi was as dead as Vinny was going to be.
Right there, right now.. she was Agent K, the trained assassin from Promethea.
Author note: Hey guys! Here is the next chapter. I know some of you guys might not know what Promethea is, but it'll all be explained.
