Chapter. 65
"Levi! Levi wait up!" Corina and Rebecca chased after Levi who walked out into the hospital courtyard.
Levi kept quiet and walked fast to get away.
Corina ran to Levi and grabbed her arm. "Come on Levi talk to me."
Levi pulled her arm back. "I don't want to talk right now!"
"Come on We're your friends you can talk to us. Why are you being so mean?"
"Mean? You consider this mean? Trust me, I can be mean if I want to be. I just don't want to get involved."
"Involved in what? Us?"
"It none of your business."
"How can we help you if you won't talk to us? You've been opening up ever since Vincent and Rebecca showed up, why turtle up now? Is it become he was shot? Did someone you know get shot?"
"Nobody I know personally, don't you think it's natural to react when someone is shot?"
"It's natural to be concerned. You're acting like you don't care, or wanted Vincent to be shot."
"You wouldn't understand."
"Then help me understand!" Corina took a breath. "What will it take for you to talk?" Levi didn't answer. "Then let's settle this as burst linkers. I win you'll tell us everything."
"When I win you'll all leave me along."
"Fine. Let's go."
Rebecca's gaze darted back and forth between her friends. "Is this really the only way?"
Corina kept her sights on Levi as the two backed away. "Stay out of this Rebecca."
Levi adjusted her sleeve ends. "This is between us."
The world broke apart around the three, rebuilt into a garden made of ice, it the sky was clear of clouds and the sun shined bright.
"You ready to do this?" Corina's hands lit up from her palms.
Levi spun her staff and took up her fighting stance.
Corina held up her hand to fire four lasers bolts. Levi rolled out of the way to dodge the first three then deflected the last.
Levi stood up and rushed to Corina. Corina took two more shots but Levi ducked under them. Levi stuck her staff into the ice and pole vaulted into the air, coming down as she swung her staff. Corina backflipped out of the way of the staff, shooting Levi with two laser bolts before she landed.
The lasers struke Levi in the arm, Levi stood up and lunged her staff forward. Corina drew one of her beam sword to redirect the staff. Levi's staff changed into its three section form, she used her weapon to sweep Corina off her feet the hit her arm, forcing Corina to drop her sword.
Levi's weapon changed back to staff form, Levi stood over Corina and trusted the staff head into her chest. Corina rolled out of the way and tackled Levi to the ground. Corina raised her fist and punched Levi in the face twice, Levi grabbed Corina's wrist and throw her off. Levi stood over Corina and brought her hand down on Corina's arm, breaking it.
Corina screamed and fire a laser from her chest. Levi as blown back from the blast, her torso and leg were burned. Corina fired two lasers but Levi dodged as she dove for her staff. Corina charged for Levi who swung her staff when she retrieved it. Corina ducked under the staff to tackle Levi.
Levi sidestepped to let Corina fly past her, Corina turned to Levi and fired her chest laser. Levi dropped to one knee from the pain and to rest her damaged leg. She watched Corina stand up then Levi forced herself to stand and limp to cover behind a tree of ice.
Droplets of water fell onto Levi's helmet, she look up to see the tree was melting. Levi looked around the garden to see everything was starting to melt, pools of water forming around all of the large and medium sides ice plants as the smaller ones were almost gone.
Hearing Corina getting closer from her footsteps in the water, Levi pressed her back against the tree to push herself up. Once Corina came around the tree Levi leaned on her staff and used her good leg to kick up water into Corina's face to blind her. Levi put her weight on her good leg then plunged her staff into Corina's chest.
Corina held up her hand to shoot three laser bolts into Levi's face. Levi held her head as she fell back, using one hand to cover her face and the other to crawl away.
Corina took a hold of the staff to slowly pull it out of her chest. Corina walked to Levi and ran the staff through her leg then Corina used her second beam sword to impale Levi's other leg to keep her from getting away. Corina stood over Levi and shot her until her health was gone.
The two returned to the real world. Corina held her arm while Levi fell onto a bench as she cover her face. Corina looked to Levi with a grin. "I won, so start talking."
Levi kept silent.
"Are you going-"
"Just shut up!" Levi shouted.
"Is it too hard to talk about?" Asked Rebecca, she sat beside Levi who still didn't speak up. "If you don't want to talk about what happened to you then it's okay. Sometimes things are just better left in the past."
"Don't act like you know about my problems." Levi scoffed.
"You're right. I don't know what you've been through, but you can't keep it inside. If you want to keep it inside then far enough. If you want to tell us then I'll listen. We're here for you, we all are. That's what real friends do."
Levi took a long breath and groaned. "Fine. Fine! Fuck it! You want to know that badly then listen up."
