Chapter. 67

The girls returned to Vincent's room, Levi rubbed her eyes to remove any remaining tears. When they walked in Elizabeth greeted to them. "Hey ladies."

"Hey Elizabeth." Corina glanced to her hand. "So... What have you been talking about?"

Brain burst." Said Vincent. "She heard us talk about it, so Lyle and I told her everything."

Elizabeth placed her hands on her sides. "And I want in."

The room fell silent for a moment until Vincent spoke. "No. No you don't. You don't know what this is, nor do you want to be apart of it."

"Yes I do."

"No you don't. This isn't a game, and I'm not letting you get hurt."

"Like you care about me! I know you resented helping me study. You only cared about yourself, calling other people parasites for getting in your way." Elizabeth spins around the room to see everything. "And all of a sudden you have friends just from playing this game-"

"Look at me!" Vincent holds out his arms. "You see what happens when you get involved with brain burst? This thing isn't a game, it's power, and people will kill each other for it."

"Power is just power without someone to use it. It's not inherently good or bad, that's on the one who wields it." Elizabeth turns back to Vincent. "This game made you a better person, someone willing to fight for others and die to protect another. The Vincent I knew would never have done that. You got friends now, a girlfriend even."

"But now people are coming for me."

"And that's why you need me. Strength in numbers and who better to help with an online game then someone who's good with online stuff?"

"What do you mean? Asked Lyle.

"I study computer science. I've always loved computers and machines, I grew up playing with them since my brother wanted nothing to do with me."

Lyle folded his arms. "So what are you fighting for, what is your aim?"

Elizabeth turned to Lyle. "I want to know why my brother was shot, to know why everyone is hurting each other. Over what? I want to see it first hand, and..." Elizabeth sighed. "I want to know the new Vincent, the one you all created."

Lyle nods. "I say we let her in. She wants to fight for the truth and for her brother."

"If Lyle says she's good then I agree." Corina jumped up and hugged Elizabeth. "Welcome to the team!"

"Thanks?" Elizabeth stood stunned by the sudden hug.

"Aren't we jumping the gun a bit?" Said Levi. "First she needs to get the game."

"I don't see the problem, Vincent?" Elizabeth looked to Vincent.

Vincent groaned. "It's not so simple. A player can only give the game once, if it doesn't take then there goes your change. I gave mine to Reby."

"Alright so who still has one?"

After a moment Levi spoke up. "I'll do it. I'll be her parent." Everyone turned to Levi.

"Are you sure?" Asked Rebecca.

"Yes. I'll make sure she doesn't end up like me, alone to figure this game." Levi opened her bag and took out a cord. "This is your last chance to back out Elizabeth."

"No. Let's go."

"Then come on. If you want to see what hell is like, I'll open the way." Levi connected the cord to her linker then to Elizabeth's, starting the download. "This will take a few minutes."

"Alright, then we'll get started making an avatar."

"First you have to sleep before the game will make you're avatar."

"So I have to wait till tomorrow? That sucks."

Lyle waved his finger to open a massage. "I have go. My mom needs me at home."

Levi shrugged. "Well we can't do much until tomorrow anyway. So we might as well call it here."

"Will you be okay Vincent?" Asked Lyle.

Vincents nods twice. "Yeah. Go do what you need to." Lyle silently steps out of the room.

"Bye Elizabeth! You're avatar is going to be really cool!" Corina hugged Elizabeth then ran after Lyle.

"Just be back here tomorrow, and in the morning don't turn on your linker till then." Levi commanded then left.

Rebecca lightly held on to Vincent. "Please be safe. I'll be here with just one call."

"Thank you Reby. Can you do something for me?"

"Anything."

"My motorcycle. Can you look after it while I'm here?"

Rebecca jumps back and claps her hands. "I can do that! It'll be safe in my hands."

"Thank you Reby." Rebecca turned to leave with Elizabeth behind her.

"Hey sis." Elizabeth stopped and turned to Vincent, all but Rebecca left.

"I'll be back tomorrow V. Please, don't strain yourself." Rebecca hugged Vincent lightly then left.

With only the siblings remaining the room was silent. "So what is it?"

Vincent looked away. "I'm sorry."

Elizabeth tilted her head. "For?"

"Being a shit brother."

Elizabeth sighed. "Don't you start. You almost died and you think you've been given another chance to make amends. Don't, you weren't so bad a brother to make me hate. You weren't a good one but at least you were around and that's good enough." Elizabeth pats Vincent's hand. "Now go to sleep and recover. I'll be back tomorrow and you'd better show me how this game is played." Elizabeth takes a few steps back. "So, are you going to be good on your own?"

"For the time being, yes."

"Alright. See you tomorrow Vince."

Alone in his room Vincent laid back to rest his chest.

The next day Vincent's room door opened as Elizabeth rushed in. "Hey Vince!"

"You're here early sis."

"Levi gave me a lift."

Levi steps into the room a moment later. "Hello Vincent." Levi searched the room. "We the only one's here?"

"Yes."

"Then let's go over the boring stuff. Elizabeth. You remember having a nightmare last night?"

"Yes, but I don't remember what it was."

"That's fine. It means you're avatar is ready to go. I know I'll get an ear full from Corina if we don't wait for her and Lyle so we'll give them some time."

The door slid open and Rebecca stormed in. "Hello V!" Rebecca noticed the others in the room. "Hey Levi, Liz. Are you ready?"

"As I can be." Elizabeth nods with a smile.

Levi groaned and shook her head. "Regretting this."

Ten minutes later the door opened again, this time Corina came through with Lyle behind her. "Hey everyone! How's our new player?"

"Finally!" Levi shouted. "We can get started. Burst link."

The world fell apart and transformed into a large mega city, skyscrapers all around them.

"What the fuck!" Elizabeth shouted as she took it all in. "What is, how is, where, why, how, how is, how?" Elizabeth turns to see everyone in their avatar forms. "How, what is this?!"

"Look at yourself." Said Levi.

Elizabeth looked down at her body. She was encased in a bright yellow armor, with a keyboard on her left arm, and a small antenna on the back of her right shoulder. Elizabeth touched her face to face to feel it encased in metal. "What is this?"

"You're avatar." Levi looked at the name. "Aureolin operator. Interesting."

"What do you mean?"

"You're a yellow avatar. You're fighting style is trickery. Get your enemy off their game then strike." Levi spun her staff. "Now, let's see what your powers are. Open your menu by waving you hand down."

Elizabeth did as told. A menu appear before Elizabeth, she press a button then more appeared as she pressed more until Elizabeth was surrounded by screens.

"She's being overwhelmed!" Shouted Rebecca.

Vincent rests his hand on Rebecca's shoulder. "Just let her work."

Lyle looks to Vincent. "How are you feeling?"

"Better, now that I can stand." Vincent glanced at his right arm then hid it behind his back.

"Something wrong?"

"No, nothing. Sis should be done soon."

Elizabeth slapped her hand and closed all of her menus. "And done. Shall we?" Elizabeth runs to a store front and starts breaking everything inside to build up her special gauge. Once it was full Elizabeth came back. "Okay check this out!" Elizabeth typed on her keyboard.

Levi's vision was filling with static making it harder to see. "This can be annoy."

"Try hitting something." Levi swung her staff into a window but her gauge didn't fill at all. "Are you doing this?"

"Yeah! I can block your gauge build up, overheat your weapons, static your vision, anything you have I can break it!" Elizabeth held out her hand then closes it into a fist.

"Really now." Levi grinned as she held up her staff. "Heat raiser!"

"Not gonna work!" Elizabeth typed on her keyboard.

Levi's power was boosted as she rushed to Elizabeth.

"What? No way!" Elizabeth typed to blur Levi's sight.

Levi didn't stop and drew closer. Elizabeth jumped out of the way but Levi stopped and struck Elizabeth in the chest, knocking the wind out of her. "Not bad, you took to your power well. Though it's common for yellows to be good at tech."

"How did, you, see, me?" Elizabeth spoke as she inhaled air.

"It's a system not everyone knows about, a system so strong it must be kept a secret. The incarnate system."
