Chapter. 69

The group returned to the theater with Elizabeth with them, the doors swing open to allow them in. "Over dramatic much?" Asked Elizabeth.

"You have no idea." Levi answered.

When they reached the stage it lit up to show the stage was empty of props as Topaz walked on stage. "Welcome back everyone." Topaz spotted Elizabeth. "And hello to you new warrior."

Elizabeth waved. "Hello."

The front of the dropped and opened to reveal stairs. Come on up gang!" A loud beep came from Topaz's watch. "Time to go." Topaz points up. "To the unlimited field!" The group looked to each other then connected to brain burst. The theater melted away as a new world was born. Everyone stood off an over view of canyons. "Nice view. A great stage for the main event."

The groups turned back to see before them was Topaz trickster. His color was bright golden brown with white and black checkered patterns along his right arm that held a cane with a large topaz on the top of it. He wore a bright red coat with gold trimmings and a black top hat.

Topaz took off his hat and bowed to the group then tossed his hat into the air, letting it land on his head. "Greetings again friends! Come! we have bit of a journey to make and little time before the show starts!" Topaz waved his wand to point the way.

"Where are we going?" Asked Lyle.

"To the meeting ground, where the rest of my legion will be. Making ready for the war. I have my shouts checking the area ahead of time."

"And setting traps." Commented Levi.

A second Topaz appeared beside Levi and patted her shoulder. "Look at you, the enchantress gets it!" Levi swatted Topaz's hand away then glanced back and forth between the Topazes. "Like it?"

Corina saw Levi touch the second Topaz and point the first to find it too was solid. "Which one is the real one?"

A third Topaz appeared beside Vincent. "That's the question isn't? Which one is real." Topaz pats Vincent on the back.

"Stop touching me before I cut off your arm and beat you with it."

The copies vanished, leaving one Topaz. "Alright. Shall we?" Topaz lead the way as the other walked beside and behind him.

"So do you have a plan?" Asked Rebecca.

"Nope."

"I'm sorry what?" Asked Vincent.

"We'll see when we speak with my shouts."

"So you don't have a real idea of what we're doing."

Lyle spoke up. "The unlimited field is always changing Vincent. A battle plan can't really be formed if the terrain can't keeps still."

Vincent shrugged and followed quietly.

Ten minutes later the group came upon a large gathering of avatars. Topaz stood a top of a large boulder and everyone stopped whatever they were doing when Topaz spoke.

"Greeting everyone! How's things coming along?"

A yellow avatar walked up to their leader. "We've mapped the area and found that most of the foes appear on the cliffs."

"Show me the map." Topaz steps down as the avatar creates a map. Topaz turned back to the others. "Please, go and rest. Cobalt!" Topaz clapped his hands and soon a large blue avatar arrived. "This is Cobalt Colossus, my right hand. Cobalt if you will, show our guests a good time, will you?"

"Yes sir." The giant walked towards the group. "Hello, and welcome to the topaz legion."

"That voice." Wondered Lyle. "Are you Faber?"

A moment pasted before the avatar answered. "Lyle?" Cobalt takes Lyle's hand and shacks it. "You have this game too? Turquoise Titan, huh? That explains why you're so strong."

Lyle pulled his hand away. "I win on my own merit. What's your excuse for losing?"

"Gentlemen!" Topaz rests his hands on Lyle and Faber's shoulders. "Save it for the emerald legion. For now, please go and make yourselves ready."

"Yes sir. If you'll follow me." Faber lead the group deeper into the encampment. "I'll take you all to somewhere you can prepare."

"Thank you Cobalt." Said Corina.

Walking past groups of other avatars gathered up as they planned attacks. Faber stopped when they arrived at a massive boulder with space under it. "This is where you'll be. Topaz will call for you all when he's ready."

The group rested under the boulder, out of the sunlight. "So this is it then?" Asked Vincent.

"What do you mean?" Asked Rebecca.

"After all the work that went in for hunting this emerald leader we're finally going to end them."

"It just means we're getting what we want." Said Levi. "We end this legion we walk away and finally live our lives."

Lyle shacks his head. "It won't be that simple. Especially for Vincent."

"Don't remind me." Vincent looked down at his hands then moved his right hand behind his back.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm-"

"You've done that again."

"What again?"

"You glance at your right arm then hide it."

"I'm fine, really." Everyone stared at Vincent. "I'm fine, let's just get this over with."

"Greetings friends!" Topaz appeared behind Faber. "The stage is set! The actors have their roles! The last act of the emerald legion will begin!" Topaz holds out his hand and a map a forms in front of everyone. "The emerald will be here on the edge of the cliff, as this is their hunting ground. They like to wait for the foes to come to them and shot them down."

Vincent felt his chest tighten.

"There's a small path along the cliff, you'll all take that path and attack the emerald from behind and kill the leader. My legion will lead an all out attack on the emerald to draw its attention.

"What do we know about the leader?" Asked Elizabeth.

"His name is Emerald Force. The reason no one has taken the legion in an open war is because of him. Emerald Force can create force fields and with the incarnate system nothing is getting through it."

Levi folded her arms. "So that's why you needed us."

"Is there anyone Catherine didn't teach the incarnate system too?" Asked Vincent. "And where did she even learn it from?"

Topaz chuckles. "I'd say ask her but well. The time is, Cobalt will show you the way. Be ready everyone." Topaz bows and disappears.

Faber turned to the others. "Make sure you have everything set up, this will get bloody."

"Alright." Said Rebecca.

Everyone stood up and followed Faber as he lead them along the edge. All of them took cover and waited as avatars appeared. "The emerald legion is here." Faber pointed to the path. "There's no cover from here to there. When Topaz begins run for it in the chaos. Lyle?" Faber turns to Lyle. "Stay alive, we need to talk after this."

Lyle only nodded.

"You're not coming?" Asked Corina.

"I have to protect the topaz leader. You'll go without me."

Everyone heard shouting and saw the topaz coming out of hiding to attack the just arriving emerald. Faber clapped his hands and ran to join them.

As soon as the topaz legion charged into battle Vincent and the others took the side path along the cliff face to avoid the fighting. The path grew narrower and the group had to walk it single file.

"Are you okay Lyle?" Asked Corina.

Lyle's back almost touched the cliff face as he sidled along the path. "I'll be okay once we're out of here." Lyle felt some stones fall onto his head and shoulder. "Coco!" Lyle grabs Corina and pulls her to his chest as he deploys his shield over his head, Stopping large rocks from falling onto him or Corina.

The group looked up to see three avatars above them, one was dropping rock on them. Elizabeth and Levi dodge some while Rebecca shifted into her blue form and punched the one that was fall onto her.

An green avatar with a tower shield fell from the cliff straight for Vincent. Vincent held up his blaster to shot the avatar, his right arm was shacking as his chest tightened, a strong bitter taste hung in Vincent's mouth. Vincent held out and crossed his arms as the tower shield crashed into him and they both fell off the cliff.
