Chapter. 71

Vincent ran down the tunnels as Halcon told him which way to go, after a few turns Vincent reached the entrance but stopped as someone stood in his way. The green avatar with the tower shield. "Get out of my way." Vincent reached over his shoulder to hold his new sword.

The avatar dropped its shield and hide behind it. Halcon landed on Vincent's shoulder. "When they get closer, drew your sword and cut them down." Vincent nods and gets his footing.

The avatar charged as Halcon said, as it got closer Vincent drew his sword and his body was clocked in an amber light with a timer in the top right of his vision, starting at sixty seconds and ticking down. Vincent held his sword with both hand and swung it down, the blade sliced through the shield and cut off the avatar's arm. Vincent took a step forward and decapitate the avatar.

"Sheath the sword now!"

As the body fell back Vincent sheathed the sword over his back and the time disappeared. "What was that?"

"The power of last critical. with it drawn you're invincible, your word will cut through anything and your blaster won't overheat. It only lasts a minute so put it away to conserve power."

Vincent reached over his shoulder to feel the sword handle. "Alright. Let's get out of here."

"Hold still now." Halcon flew off Vincent's shoulder and dove into the ground and a geyser rose up from under Vincent lifting him, carrying him to the top. The geyser launched Vincent into the air and on top of the canyon. Vincent landed on his feet and saw the war taking place, avatars of all color, shapes, sizes, and powers killing one another.

Vincent turned away from the carnage and pulled up his friends list to track Rebecca. "There you are!" Vincent stuck to the cliff edge to avoid the fighting, climbing over some rock he found the emerald's war camp also swallowed in fighting. most of the avatar were tagged for the topaz legion but weren't gaining any ground as they were under fire from the emerald legion's long range avatar, all of which were being protected by a barrier.

Searching the battlefield Vincent spotted his friends. Lyle was trying to keep everyone safe with is shield and body if needed. Corina was fighting to keep avatars away from Lyle. Levi was using her ability to boost their speed and strength but had to stop sometimes to defend herself. All of them were fighting to protect Elizabeth who was typing away at several screens, Vincent could only guess what she was doing. Finally Rebecca was shifting forms to keep up with the situation, be it defense, offense, or support. Avatars kept spawning in from falling in the warzone or by his friend, they were going to be over run. Vincent slid down the rocks to join his friends when he reached to bottom and started running.

Rebecca in her purple form cut down an avatar and turned around to find another when she saw Vincent, she raised an arm to wave to him when it was cut off by a blue avatar with an axe. Rebecca staggered back and blocked the next attack with her other bladed arm.

The avatar was getting ready for another swing when Vincent punched the avatar in the side of the head, his fists engulfed in flames. Vincent followed with a punch to the ribs then grabbed them by the neck, punching them in the face until there was no head left.

"V!" Vincent snapped out of his rage induced trance.

"Reby! Everyone!" Vincent stood up to join them.

"You're back." Lyle stated plainly.

"Where the hell were you?!" Shouted Levi.

"Tell you later. What's happening?"

Corina ran her blade through an avatar's throat. "This barrier is keeping us from the emerald leader! Your sister is trying to break through but were being over run here!"

Vincent nods. "Okay. I got someone who can help."

"Who's that?" Asked Rebecca.

"Halcon, you ready?"

"Give them a show. Something worthy of my entrance."

"Then play along." Vincent held his fist in the air and a dozen water spouts shot out from the ground. "I our time of need I call upon your power! Deliver us victory and wash away our foes!" Vincent closed his fist and it was covered in a sphere of water. "I summon you! Come forth, Halcon!"

The water spouts connected and formed to create a giant bird, Halcon spread his wings was and large globs of water splashed all around them. Halcon flapped his wings cried into the sky waves of water rose up around Vincent and his friends to wash away anyone trying to attack them.

The group all turned to Vincent. "Where in fucking hell did you get this?!" Shouted Levi.

"We'll talk later. Halcon bought us time, sis can you get this barrier down?"

"I, I ah..." Elizabeth was in shock by seeing Halcon.

"Sis!" Vincent grabbed Elizabeth's shoulders and shook here. "Can you get this down or not?"

"I keep trying by it's like a new barrier comes up as soon as I crack it."

"Alright." Vincent jumped at the barrier and drew his sword, striking the barrier and breaking it open. "Everyone in!" Vincent sheathed his sword. "We got an open-" Vincent was shot in the back by one the long range avatars and dropped to the his knees.

"V!" Rebecca kneeled beside Vincent who had his hands on his chest. He pulled his hands away to see they were covered in blood. Vincent whole body started to shake as his breathing grew harsher. "He's hyperventilating! He's going into shock!"

"Get him out of here!" Shouted Elizabeth.

Rebecca shifted into her blue form to carry Vincent to an exit but was being shot at by the emerald's range fighters, forcing her to shift to her green form.

"Bastards... Bastards!" Elizabeth cracked her knuckles and typed at her screens, using the incarnate Elizabeth was able to short circuit the enemies weapons. "That's for my brother you dicks!"

Rebecca returned to her blue from and carried Vincent into the exit, Halcon flying in after them.

Lyle took the lead into the barrier, Corina breaking off to take out the ranged avatars. Lyle ran to the next barrier, punching it to test it's strength. Past the barrier Elizabeth spotted the one creating it. It was a bright green avatar with discs on both their arms, both were spinning fast with a blue light. "There he is, the emerald leader. Emerald force."

"We just have to get past this and we have him." Lyle punched the barrier again.

"I got it." Elizabeth stretched her hands out and conjured her screens. "You're going down bastard. This is for my brother!" The barrier protecting Emerald force started to flicker and grow dim.

"Get through it Lyle!" Levi pointed her staff at Lyle, using her heat riser to boost his strength.

Lyle pouched the barrier, each strike sent sparks along it. "Vincent Rebecca got the legion off out backs." A crack appeared in the barrier. "Coco is keeping the stragglers away." Lyle drew his axe and slashed along the barrier leaving a cut in it over the crack. "Levi is giving me power and Elizabeth is fight against the leader's power." Lyle cut along both sides of the crack. "All of them are giving me this opening, this one shot. I can't waste it!" Lyle punched the barrier one more time and watched as it shattered before him.

Lyle charged through the opening with his axe over his shoulder. Emerald force held up both his arms to create a barrier to block. Lyle dragged his axe along the ground and swung up to knock the avatar into the air. When he fell Lyle caught the avatar by his head and crushed it, earning twenty point. "A level a head? Weaker then I thought."

The emerald leader respawned and created a barrier around Lyle. Lyle's axe changed back into a shield which he threw into the barrier the stepped aside. The shield bounce back and forth in the barrier, faster and faster until it broke through. The shield flew at emerald force and cut him in half before he could react.

Emerald force quickly returned and ran at Lyle with a barrier in front of him. Lyle's shield flew back to him and retracted, Lyle reeled his arm back and punched the barrier. The two held their ground against each other until Emerald's barrier flicked from Elizabeth's interference then started to crack under Lyle's fist. The barrier shattered and Lyle grabbed Emerald by the torso and raised him over head, Lyle grabbed a hold of his legs and ripped Emerald in half.

As soon as Emerald respawned he ran for the exit. Lyle threw his shield and sliced off Emerald's legs. Emerald crawled to the exit to get away and Lyle walked towards him then stopped. Emerald turned back to the exit to see Corina standing over him. "Leaving already?" Corina plunged her sabers into Emerald's head.

From Emerald's body a pulse shook the cliffs and a massage appeared before everyone in the unlimited field.

The Emerald legion was defeated. All of its territory was now under the topaz's control.
