Chapter 10
"Why did Gojo ask for this? He HATES these sorts of things?" asked Principal Yaga.
"I don't trust him either on the notion…" muttered Principal Yoshinobu. "It was suppose to be the meeting of elders and principals, nothing more. How did he barge into this?"
"Oh, you haven't heard yet…" said Principal Yaga.
"Heard what?"
They were gathered in the room with other elders, wondering what was going on. Until Gojo walked in along with Yua.
The room came to a drastic pause. "A Tooru?" whispered Yoshinobu.
She smirked. "Didn't think you would see the last of my family again, huh old man?" she giggled but broke out into a coughing fit once more. She settled herself down long enough to regain her breath. "Excuse me…" she said and took a seat.
"Gojo, you called for this…"
"Actually, she did. She didn't have the… pull to call a meeting like this so she used me to do it… I'm use to it," he laughed.
All eyes came upon her. "What's so important that a member of the Tooru family came out of hiding for?" asked Yaga.
It was then she reached into her pocket and took out a cursed object. It was contained in a small box carved in Himalayan salt. Slowly, she opened it before the council.
The last of Sukuna's fingers.
The room went eerily quiet. "You kept that in your pocket!?" demanded Lori.
"Yes," she said bluntly. "Part of my curse ability, runs in the family too, conceal." She explained and placed the finger on the table, but kept her hand on it. "As long as it is on my person or it is touched by my hand, no one, not even the bastard that owns this finger can sense it."
The room was oddly silent again. "Why else did you think none of you shaman could never find my family?" she asked aloud.
"Why did you keep this from us?" asked Yoshinobu.
"Because, I wanted to see this demon vessel with my own eyes to determine one thing. And in the mere few days I have been here, I see now that he is someone remarkable. I will not call him the demon vessel anymore but Yuuji properly." She explained as she closed up the seal and placed the finger back into her pocket. "What I wished to ask is this… has anyone tried to find another way to help him?"
There came blank stares from the table. "What?!" they demanded of her. "There is NO WAY to help him!"
"We have to make arrangements now, we have what we need to execute him," said Yoshinobu.
"Not while this is in my possession!" she protested, the room froze to her outburst. "Treat me unfairly and I will vanish again with this along with me. Do we have an understanding?" she demanded. There came a solemn nod from the masses, many glared at her as if she betrayed them all. "Okay then, let me say this. I have been search for a way to help this boy." She said. "He's one in a million… and evenly so, his abilities alone without curse energy is remarkable and must be taken into consideration here…"
"We're going to execute him tomorrow," said Yoshinobu.
"Will you shut up and listen!" Yua roared as her fists came down on the table.
It shattered to splinters upon impact.
No one in the room realized the strength she possessed, but they were quick to see it.
She did that without curse energy!
"Quit being such a coward old man and listen to me!" she protested. "He may not have to die! However, what I wish to try could kill him either way. So no matter what, either way it's a win-win in as sense"
"How can that be considered a win-win?" demanded Lori.
"Simply put, we either save him, or he dies either way from what I wish to try."
"What is it that you want to attempt?" asked Yaga.
She shook her head. "I cannot say it aloud, if I do… that information is transferred into the finger I possess, we lose our element of surprise. All I know is this, it's a risk I am willing to take, for my own body is on the line as well."
"I think we should at least try it," Gojo explained.
"We need more information than this!" protested Yaga.
Tau nodded as she got up from her chair and left the room. "I'll let Gojo explain from here," she removed herself and went outside as Gojo explained the plan. But she could already feel the tension in the space, and no one was willing to listen to the notion. A far fetched idea that was conspired between her and her old friend. It won't be greeted with open arms to say the least.
She took herself for a walk, only to find Yuuji outside lounging in the sun after his lunch.
He appeared so care free and happy.
"Mind if I join you Itadori?"
He sat up startled to her voice and appearance. "You called me…"
She smiled and nodded. "Sorry about that act earlier. I just had to see how you would respond when I spoke to you poorly, you got a strong heart and mind to withstand such harassment."
He laid back down again. "Well, it's not like I got a choice, besides, what people say out here isn't as bad as you know who says in here…" he muttered and pointed to his head.
"I can understand that on many levels,"
"You can?"
She smiled and nodded as she took a seat and lay next to him. They were silent to each other for a moment until she said. "I have the last finger,"
"Oh…" Yuuji said.
"I told the principal and the elders about it, but warned them not to cross me at this time or I will walk away with it and vanish."
"I see… So when…"
"Who knows, knowing the elders they are going to want to do this tomorrow. But, they can't do it if they don't have the finger. So, with that in mind, I would like to ask you something."
"How would I like to go? Last meal?" he asked and smiled.
"What if something could be done to help you? Would you accept it?"
"Help me?" he asked.
"It's a simple question, yes or no is fine."
"Bitch is playing you,"
The mouth appeared again. "You never shut up do you?" she asked Sukuna. "Let him speak." She said as Yuuji went to slap the mouth closed.
"You are rather generous in allowing me to speak, normally no one wants to hear my voice come out of his boy!" he laughed.
"Sorry," Yuuji muttered.
"I think I told you before, don't ever apologize for him." She sat herself up and peered down at the mouth that snickered towards her. She then suddenly broke out into a coughing fit and got blood once more.
"HAHA! YOU'RE DYING!"
Yuuji sat up as he saw the blood. "Oh shit!"
She waved off his concern. "The asshole isn't wrong," she explained. She eased herself up off the ground as Yuuji followed. "But the more important thing is this, I want you to make me a promise," she said. Her hands crossed over each other as she pressed them to his chest. She placed them right over his heart. "Strong heart," then her hands went on the top of his head. "Sound mind…" then both grasped his shoulders gently. "Powerful body…"
"HEY I FELT THAT!" warned Sukuna. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO!"
She only smiled and coughed some more. That took a little too much out of her. "Face death with pride and fearlessness," she told Yuuji. "Be brave, always be brave and never let someone with power determine your fate like this."
The young man froze to her words; he could only nod to her as the mouth sneered. "You did something to his body, I can feel it, and it's weak! But you did something…" Sukuna protested.
"Like I give a damn to what you think," she said gently. She turned back to Yuuji. "We both face death, we both know what happens at the end for us both. But it could also just be the beginning of something new."
With that, she stood up and left him to think. She ventured back to the school where Gojo came out. "So?" she asked.
"Like a lead balloon," he said and smirked. "But we were anticipating that weren't we? I am going to go talk to Itadori, they want him dead sooner than later, but I demanded he get a few days to do whatever the hell he wants to do!"
She nodded in agreement. "He does deserve to have as much fun as he can before his time…"
With that Gojo went to approach his star pupil as it were. Yua had to rest after the incident, it took out far more of her strength than she anticipated…
