Chapter 18

With no end in sight, let alone an agreement to be made. Yuuji faced the harshest punishment in his mind.

Solitary confinement.

He wanted to go outside, he wanted to talk to his friends and see if they were okay. He wanted answers for what happened the day of the execution. What did Sukuna do, did he harm anyone? What did Sensei Tooru do to him when Sukuna was in control?

But there was nothing to gain.

He sighed aloud to it all as he wondered what he could do to pass the time. His door is locked from the outside, they used high-grade talismans again to seal his room off, and he got portions of food each day… but not enough to satisfy him. It was as if they were trying to starve him into submission.

The latest meal just arrived through the flap in his door. He sighed aloud as he retrieved it. He took the meal to his bed. "Thank you for the food," he said meekly as he ate it in a single swoop. But he wanted more. He needed more, his stomach muttered and growled at the lack of it. He ate all his snacks, ramen and hidden stashes in a single afternoon. There wasn't a crumb to be found and yet, he was determined to eat something!

He laid down in his bed, only to sit up once more.

The fox was back!

"How did you…" he muttered and looked about the room.

Yet the fox was sitting there oddly, looking at him. Perhaps trying to make up it's mind about something. "I maybe going crazy…" Yuuji muttered.

Then, he heard Kagura-suzu bells.

His body fell into a relaxed state as the chime came over his ears once more. The sound of a suzu washed over him and made his mind go blank…

Standing before his bed, Yuuji stared down at the odd fox that began to point to the wall. Gently, he placed his hand to it, as a powerful pulse resonated through his body, slowly, he melted through the thick wall and came out on the other side. The fox then began to walk away, but turned to ensure he followed.

Mindlessly, he did.

The two strolled through Tokyo, yet passed through every solid object like ghosts before pausing before a temple outside of the city, he was led up the stairs to the top where everything was covered in lights and bright colors. People fazed through him as he continued to travel unnoticed. The fox however kept close to him until he was taken to the other side of the temple grounds.

There was a massive structure, closed off to the world and people, bounded by a massive lock and a talisman but the fox merely phased through it and encouraged Yuuji to follow.

Blindly, he walked into the door, but came out on the other side of it. The room was covered marble, as murals were on each of the walls. The ceiling itself shined an odd light despite there being little of it in the room. Yet the fox kept encouraging him to move alone to what awaited within.

There was a feast, fit for a king before him, and a chair to sit upon. He made his way over to the table and took a sample or two, but paused. He took a few of the items like sweets and meats and placed them on a small plate before offering it to the fox that led him there.

It was taken aback by the offer but graciously accepted. From there, Yuuji took a seat and helped himself to the contents. He tasted everything, but his mind couldn't make sense of it.

The dream felt so real to him and yet, he was asleep, wasn't he?

Looking about the room, he took in the murals, they were all these interesting creatures and appeared to be held in high regards. They were made from gold, silver and other precious metals. Yet still, why was he dreaming this?

His eyes lazily gazed upward to the biggest of them all, a massive monster peering down at the room, almost as if it were guarding it.

It made no sense to him, but the dream must be coming to an end, his eyes were getting heavy…
