Rockets and Groot's Big Score 4

Chapter 4- The Prize
Rocket sighed happily as he manoeuvred the ship through numerous jump points back to Skamt. For the first 30 minutes the Target had been pleading with both him and Groot to let him go, so Rocket had gagged him. Groot looked shocked at that but had agreed not to ungag or release him.
After 4 hours they touched down in Skmat. Rocket ordered Groot to release the target and follow him. Groot went over and released the Target. The Target jumped and ran for the door. Just before he reached the door he jerked around his body running with electricity.
"Idiot!" Rocket shouted at Groot with exasperation.
"You were meant to release him from the ship not let him go."
"I am Groot," Groot replied forlornly
"Yes, I know I didn't specify that, you are supposed to understand because fo what we are doing here," Rocket replied
"I am Groot,"
"What do you mean you forgot, I told you 10 minutes ago!"
Rocket was starting to get very annoyed with Groot's limiting level of intelligence and was wondering if maybe he should have just left him on Planet X.
"Come on let's find this guy and get paid. Pick him up and follow me," Rocket said before they moved towards the camp where their employer was waiting.
Rocket and Groot approached the 2 guards. The Centurion opened his mouth but Ponytail interrupted him,
"No we can't bash their heads,"
The Centurion looked down and almost cried.
"In you go," Ponytail said opeing the temp flap the boss is expecting you.
Rocket and Groot entered. Groot dropped the target right in front of Chimp, (AN: the boss from the first chapter), and stood back.
"Excellent!" Chimp said, "You got him in record time,"
"Yes, now where is my payment," Rocket said
"I am Groot," Groot said
"You didn't apply for this job, you don't get paid," Chimp said
"I AM GROOT!" Groot yelled bristling with twigs
"Fine you can have a quarter of the payment alright," Rocket knowing if a fight broke out, he would not get paid.
"I am Groot," Groot replied settling down.
"Ok, here you go," Chimp said handing Rocket 24,000 units and Groot 8,000 units.
"Pleasure doing business," Rocket said smiling
When Rocket and Groot returned of the ship Groot asked Rocket if he could stay and help Rocket collect more bounties. Rocket considered this. On one hand Groot was powerful, strong and very useful in a fight. On the other hand, he was dumb and always took a percentage of the pay from Rocket.
"Alright, but you do as I say, right?" Rocket said
"I am Groot," Groot agreed
"Sweet, let's go look for more work,"
4 years later Rocket and Groot were on Xandar looking for more bounties. In that time Rocket had escaped 15 more prisons and increased his counts of arson mercenary activity (not counting bounty hunter work) and stolen many weapons and other tech. Groot had also increased his rap sheet but was still lower in standing than Rockets.
"Stop doing that you idiot," Rocket yelled at Groot for the 3rd time
Groot was once again drinking fountain water.
"I told you to stop doing that, it is disgusting and also draws attention remember we are wanted by the Nova Corp,"
"I am Groot,"
"Yes, I know we do break the law but that doesn't mean I want to be arrested again,"
After 5 more minutes of banter, Rocket bounty tablet lit up meaning a bounty was in range.
"Whoop, looks like we got one. Ok humie, how bad does someone wanna find you? Rocket said as he found the target a Terran in a red coat with a Ravager symbol on it, chatting to some pink skinned woman, "40,000 units? Groot we're gonna be rich."
"Slurp," Rocket turned around to once again see Groot drinking fountain water
"Huh" Rocket sighed dejectedly, looking down, as Groot continued to drink.
