'Can't believe I lost him...why did this place have to be so big?' was the only thoughts running through the head of a peculiar nine year old boy.
He was short for his age, but didn't care all that much about it. He had a head full of black, somewhat messy hair on his head, a couple of bangs framing his face. His eyes were a soft grey color, ones that seemed to glow with great knowledge in their depths. He had a naturally tanned skin tone to his form, which brought out his eyes a bit more. He wore a simple white t-shirt with a blue hoodie over that, a pair of jeans on his legs, and white sneakers on his feet.
He and his father were at the Mage Association in Europe for business, and both have been there for about three days now. Currently, however, the two got separated after the boy wandered off from his old man, and the place was just too big to know where to exactly go.
He needed help…
Somehow, the Universe heard him and answered his prayer, but not in the way he hoped it would.
"Hello there lad, are you lost?" The boy turned around and came face to face with a much older looking man, his hair grey from age, wrinkles lining his skin, a suit on his form. However, what caught the youth's attention were the man's red colored eyes, and knew this man was trouble.
"Um...yes sir, I'm lost," the boy told him. "I was with my father but got separated from him and I don't know where to go exactly." The man gave a small smile and nodded in understanding.
"That's quite alright lad, now come, follow me, I'll take you to my study and help you find your father." The man turned and began to walk away, and the boy quickly followed behind him closely.
-Platinum Hero-
About ten minutes later, the two entered the man's office, and the boy couldn't help but marvel at what he saw. A bunch of old magical relics and knicknacks were seen scattered across the study, books lining the walls, and a fireplace sat on one of the walls, the hearth glowing with life, with couches surrounding it alongside a coffee table.
"Go ahead, take a seat, I'll just be a moment." The old man walked to somewhere in the giant study. The boy, meanwhile, took a seat and made himself comfortable as he began to think.
There's something off about that old man, but he couldn't place his hand right on it, like a slithering snake ready to pounce, or a sneaky rat, and so on, but he couldn't just depend on his feelings alone.
Then, he remembered something his father told him, a person to be careful of and watchout for at all costs...what was his name...Zelzich...Selritch...Elric…Zatra...?
No, none of them.
However, before he could ponder more about the name, the old man returned, taking a seat across from the young boy.
So lad, care to introduce yourself…?" the boy blinked.
"Oh, my name's Aaron, Aaron Hoshi." The man rubbed his chin and hummed, his eyes giving a faint gleam to them.
"Oh, so you're Kaito's boy, aren't you lad?" Aaron nodded. "Well, can't say I'm surprised, you look like him, but I guess the rest of yah came from your mother." the man nods. "Well, for reference lad, my name is Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, or simply Zelretch."
Aaron's mind came to a screeching halt. He stared at the man with a blank expression, before…
"Oh! You're the guy dad told me to look out for!" the boy suddenly exclaimed, pointing his finger right at him. Zelretch was silent for a moment before he burst out in jovial laughter.
"Ohohohohoho! Oh, what did he tell you about me now lad?" Zelretch wasn't offended in the slightest, in fact, he found it amusing how the boy's father warned Aaron of himself. Then again, he is known for getting people into the craziest of situations as well as sticking his nose where it has no business of being, and making people's lives rather chaotic.
What can he say? It gave him amusement and entertainment.
"Dad said you butt into people's lives and make them all weird and stuff, causing things that shouldn't happen to happen, and said you drag people into your craziness unintentionally!" Zelretch was amused, and greatly so.
Kaito definitely hit the nail on the forehead, that's for sure. But, the boy was young, and children like him tend to have short attention spans, but to think he remembered to keep a watchful eye out for him.
Peculiar indeed…
Aaron, meanwhile, stared at the man with an intense gaze. Despite his shorter and more babyish appeal, he was smarter than he let on. He would not be swayed into this man's crazy antics, he would not give in!
"Yo! Old Man, you back yet?" a somewhat robotic, male voice called out. The two's attention was drawn to a flying…
Magic wand!?
Aaron momentarily forgot about his inner mantra and looked at the wand in awe. It was a glimmering slivery-white color, a circle at the top with a golden star at the center, two wings attached to the said circle on both sides.
"Oh, Diamond, I thought you were still asleep." the old man said. The Sentient wand simply shook its head.
"I awoke because I felt something." Zelretch, intrigued by his creation's reaction to something, leaned closer ever so slightly.
"Well then, tell me, what did, you feel?" The Wand gave a low hum as it seemingly looked up in thought.
"A powerful mana signature that just seems to echo throughout my being, calls to the depth of my artificial soul." the Wand known as Diamond proclaimed.
The Apostle hummed in thought. To think, Diamond reacted to something so strong to cause it to wake up…
His eyes widened.
Could it be…? The cause of Diamond's senses to feel such a thing. His gaze shifted to the other occupant in the room. He knew Kaito said his boy was a prodigy in Magecraft, but to think that he had the compatibility for one of his Kalidosticks…?
A conniving smirk drew itself onto his olden face as an idea came to mind.
Aaron, meanwhile, looked at the Wand in awe, not noticing the look on the Man's face that just echoed trouble across a valley.
"Aaron, how would you like to do me a favor, and in exchange, Diamond will be yours to command." both boy and wand looked at the man, the youth's eyes glimmering greatly, while the stick gave a seemingly exasperated and shell shocked look.
"Really!?" they both exclaimed at the same time, getting a nod from the man.
"Indeed. Now, the reason as to why I'm giving you Diamond." He gave a small sigh. "You see, not too long ago, I lost a valuable possession of mine, a deck of what's known as Class Cards." Aaron was confused while Diamond was horrified.
"You lost those CLASS CARDS!?" the Stick exclaimed. "Old Man, this is serious trouble! They potentially could fall into the wrong hands or worse, cause havoc! Heck, three of them are Grand Servants for crying out loud!"
Zelretch nods grimmly.
"Which is why I'm giving you to Aaron. He's possibly the only one who can both collect and purify the Class Cards." The said boy was lost at this point.
"Um, can someone explain to me what are Class Cards and why they need to be purified?" Diamond flew up to him and began to explain.
"Aaron, how much do you know of myths, legends, and history?" The boy's eyes sparkled with immense glee hearing those words.
"I love myths and legends, like King Arthur, the Legend of Heracles, and so much more!" The wand gave a satisfied nod, glad to know the boy was interested in something that would help in the future.
"Well, what if I told you all myths were real?" The boy's face lit up to become one-hundred times brighter.
"Really!?" He exclaimed.
"Indeed." the wand began to fly around the boy's head as it continued. "Class Cards embody the said Heroes and Villains of lore and history, equipped with newfound powers tied to their tales that enhance their capabilities to inhuman levels people can only dream of!"
Aaron didn't know how much excitement he could take. To think, those cards have the powers of famous heroes and/or villains he's only read and/or heard stories about was so surreal…
"But, why do they need to be purified?" he couldn't help but ask. Zelretch gave a small cough, gaining the boy's and stick's attention.
"That might be my fault," he explained. "I was experimenting with the Cards to see what heroes lied within them, but they found me unworthy of their powers and absorbed tainted energy of malice and anger, twisting them to be darker than what they are. Then, they just vanished without a trace." He sighed.
"So, they could be anywhere in the world by now?" Aaron asked.
Zelretch nods. "Precisely. Which is why I'm giving Diamond to you. To help you find the Class Cards and purify them to their former glory." Aaron looked down in thought.
Honestly, he still didn't trust the guy, but if the corrupted Heroes caused trouble, then people would get hurt...
He gave a sigh. He knew what he had to do.
He looked at Zelretch with unwavering determination. "Alright, I'll do it." The man grinned happily.
"Thank you dear lad, you have my gratitude." Aaron frowned slightly, a thought coming to mind.
"But, I'm not powerful enough to take on a hero like those in the Cards, all my Magecraft is good for is the Healing Arts." Zelretch's grin never wavered.
"That's where Diamond comes in. You see lad, Diamond is what's known as a Kaleidostick, a special set of magic wands created by me using the Second Magic of Kaleidoscope. His power should be more than enough to help you fight against the Heroes in the Cards." Aaron turned to Diamond and marveled at the Kaleidostick.
"Cool…" he uttered under his breath. Diamond gave a somewhat prideful look to themselves hearing the praise.
"Yes, yes, it is cool," the old man's features turned grim as all nonsensicalness was washed from his face. "But be warned dear lad, Diamond is a special wand unlike his siblings, and over using him will result in unseen consequences that'll take away your humanity, or in worse case scenario...you're very life."
Hearing this made the boy's eyes go wide. "Take away...my humanity…or my life…?" the boy all but muttered under his breath, way more than a bit scared at the implication the man gave him, and started to wonder if he made the right idea.
Suddenly, Zeltretch gave a large smile. "But don't worry, I have faith in your capabilities lad, and know you'll be just fine. Now, I have some other items for you." the Apostle got up and went to scour around his office.
Aaron, meanwhile, was still more than a bit mortified at what he was told, but was even more dumbfounded at how the man went from grim to cheerful in a mere instant...this guy just didn't make a whole lot of sense to him.
"Don't let the old man get under your skin kid." Aaron looked at Diamond, who seemed to give him a reassuring look. "He's like this to people who seem to be more interesting to him, so don't take it personal." Aaron gave the wand a small smile before nodding.
"Thanks." At that moment did the Apostle decide to return, two small boxes stacked in his grasp, both being fairly different in size.
"Ah yes, here we go, some items to help you in your future endeavors lad." The man sat the box down before the youth, and Aaron decided to open the first one.
However, upon seeing the contents, he was utterly confused. In the small wooden box were two bullets, old and used, one even stained with dried blood on it, the other was a bit older looking and had a neat spiral design on it.
Aaron looked up at the man and asked. "Bullets?" Zeltretch nods.
"These will help you in the future, I promise you that. But, the other box holds something far more valuable and will help you whenever you may need it."
Aaron closed the box with the bullets inside and took it off the other and larger box underneath it. When he opened it, both he and Diamond fell into shock.
Inside the box was a dagger, but it's entirety was off putting. For one, the blade of the dagger didn't look natural in appearance, the blade was in a zig-zag and sparkled with the entire color spectrum on it's sharp surface. The handle of the dagger was black, red and yellow in appearance.
In all honesty, the blade seemingly radiated magic that just screamed off-putting, so much so that it even sent a slight shudder down Diamond's shaft.
"Hey, Mr Zeltretch...what the heck is this thing?"
"A weapon magical in origin found on one of the Islands of Greece amongst some old ruins. While many do not know what the dagger is capable of, studies show that it gives off an aura that opposes any and all magic that goes near it."
Aaron gently picked up the dagger, studying it's form. "So this thing contradicts all magic that graces it's path?"
The man nods. "Precisely. It's speculated that it once belonged to an Ancient Greek Magic User." the man sighed. "Unfortunately, that's all we could come up with, but I have faith it'll help you lad."
Aaron looked out the window to the study and saw it was getting late. "Oh man, I need to leave and find my dad." he was about to get up, but the Older Magus stopped him.
"Have no worry lad, he'll be arriving soon enough. Now you should pocket the items and keep them safeguarded." Aaron did as told. "And one more warning, tell no one of Diamond's power and living ability." the boy nods. "Diamond, you know what to do." The wand nods.
"Of course." Diamond floated gently down onto Aaron's lap and became still, almost as if inanimate. Aaron held up the wand and nodded.
Zeltretch then looked at his watch. "Now, by my calculations, your father should be arriving in 3...2...1…"
Right on Que, there was a knocking at the door. Zeltretch walked over to it and opened it to reveal a man in his late thirties to early forties, black hair, brown eyes and in semi-formal attire. He, currently, had a tired look on his face.
He and the Apostle looked one another in the eyes for a quiet minute before one of them spoke.
"Zeltretch."
"Kaito." the older man greeted back, "pleasure to see you." the man sighed, seeing the troll's look.
"...my son's in here, isn't he?" Zeltretch simply smiled and ushered the man in. And upon seeing the face, Aaron smiled happily.
"Dad!" Without another world, Kaito walked over and picked his son up.
"Don't worry me like that again," he reprimed softly. Aaron frowned somewhat hearing his words.
"Sorry, I tried to find you, but then I bumped into Mr Zeltretch, he even gave me a cool toy, see?" He held up the Kaleidostick, and the man raised an eyebrow.
He would have to make sure it wasn't laced with something underhanded, but then again, it simply looked normal, so he'll give the man that.
Kaito looked to the Old Magus and nodded. "Thank you for looking after my son." The Apostle waved him off.
"Nonsense, the boy was a pleasure to have around." The man moved out of the doorway and motioned his arms for them to go. "But as you can see, it's getting late now, and the boy needs his sleep."
His point was proven when Aaron gave a great big yawn, and Kaito looked at his son amused.
"I guess you're right. Alright, we'll be taking our leave." the man with his son in his arms walked to the door as Zeltretch bid them farewell.
"Farwell Hoshi Family, do come visit again one day." Kaito frowned as he passed the older male.
"Don't bet on it." and with that, he and his son were off down the corridor of the Clock Tower as Zeltretch closed his office door behind him.
As he walked, Kaito heard light breathing, and looked down to see the sight of his youngest and only son had fallen asleep in his arms, and smiled. He looked so small and so precious, like he was when he was younger
In all honesty, he was against making his son his Heir, but his older sisters didn't have the capacity for magecraft like he did, so he relented and trained the boy in their Field of Magecraft. In all honesty, the boy was a prodigy in the art, and soaked it up like a sponge, and even then wanted to extend outwards into more fields.
But he's still a nine year old boy, albeit a rather short yet smart one, so he had plenty of time before he got into any dangerous situations before he became a teenager…
Oh if only he knew.
-Platinum Hero-
Zeltretch sat at his desk and gave a soft sigh.
He should count himself lucky that he found someone worthy to hold one of his Kaleidosticks. Now he had one in the hands of the Tohsaka Heiress, one with the Edelfelt Heiress, and now one with the Hoshi Heir. Ruby and Sapphire, he knows, won't be used for a long while, but their brother, his greatest creation, was in for a far more daring tasks.
All his Kaleidosticks were made thanks to his mastery over the second Magic, Kaleidoscope. Diamond was his first, followed up by Ruby and Sapphire soon after. But when making Diamond, he may have had a small complication…
Diamond became its own unintentional source for the Kaleidoscope itself.
To explain it better, Diamond is equal to a nexus to all worlds, a pseudo-nexus technically speaking, and has subconscious access to the ravines of the primal power connected to that of both time and space itself.
Ah, yes, his fault, and he knows it.
Which leads to the drawback of using Diamond.
Even he has no idea on what could happen should one use Diamond's power beyond what they're meant to could result in something unforeseen…
Or Death.
But he has complete and utter faith in Aaron, and knows he'll be more than okay when handling Diamond, seeing how smart the boy was, it should be a no brainer that he'll think twice before doing something reckless.
But now, he has to play the waiting game, and he hopes and prays to the deities above that the lad will succeed in his task. And if not, well..
He always had Ruby and Sapphire's holders on the call.
