Chapter 3: Chaotic Times
New York City, January 23, 2010
"Again!"
It had been a little over a month since Aaron made his debut as Shirogane and entering the Hero Business, as well as attain his first card, Ruler, who is the soul of the Holy Maiden, Jeanne D'Arc. It's also the day he agreed to learn and train under the tutelage of the Justice League as a whole, and it was quite the experience to be honest.
Speaking of which, he and Black Canary were having a sparring session on a rooftop, for the umpteenth time now, but as they trained, Shirogane grew better bit by bit. This current spar was going okay so far it seemed…
Till he was promptly kicked in the gut, of which knocked the wind right out of him, and causing him to fall to his knee as he held his gut.
From a short distance away, Diamond gave a small wince at the sight.
While the Kaleidostick was more or less hesitant on Shiro accepting Batman's offer in the first place, he realised it was actually quite worthwhile, and the help was making Shiro a better hero than if he didn't have the help.
Back with Shirogane and Canary, the expert fist fighter approached the Magical Boy and bent down slightly, giving an apologetic smile. "Sorry honey, didn't mean to kick yah so hard." Shiro weakly waved a hand.
"It's...alright...can we...take a...break…?" Black Canary hums in thought before ultimately shrugging.
"Sure, we can take a breather if you'd like." almost instantly did Shiro fall onto his rear, giving a large sigh of relief, garning an amused look from the Heroine.
"Thank you." Diamond chose that moment to fly over to his holder and the two began to chat as Canary watched with a fond smile on her face.
This was the second time she had begun teaching the youth to train in Physical Combat and not rely on his own magical powers, and he's come along nicely in the time frame, and found what form and style would suit him best.
He was on the shorter side, so she opted to teach him rapid and quick paced strikes rather than heavy hitting ones, and how to use his shorter size to dodge enemies easily. Of course he's still learning, but he's developing his skills at a fast rate, and honestly, she can't wait to see how far he'll go in time.
Suddenly, her ear peice beeped and she gave a sigh. "Sorry kid, I have to go, duty calls." Shiro nods, understanding the situation.
"Alright, I'll see you in two weeks Canary." with a wave goodbye she leapt from the building and was out of sight.
After she was gone, Shirogane sat back on his hands and gave a small sigh. He was thankful to the league for helping him, and had gotten to meet so many amazing heroes, from Batman, to Superman, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Green Lantern, and more.
They mostly came two to three times a week, mostly on weekends for training and such. But his thoughts began to drift back to his task of finding the Class Cards and saving people as he goes along.
"Hey, Diamond, is it possible for you to track down the other Class Cards?" Diamond hummed in thought.
"Possibly, I have yet to try though…" Shiro nods.
"Well, it never hurts to try, but maybe at a later date." Diamond gave a sigh of relief.
He was glad Shirogane wasn't trying to find the cards as fast as possible and was taking his time in doing his task. Glad to know he wasn't thick headed as other boys and was far more patient as well.
Shirogane then stood up from and stretched, giving a slight wince as he did. "Yep, she left a mark." He placed a palm on his gut as his hand began to glow and the look of relief washed over his face. "And it's gone." Shiro looked at his Kaleidostick. "Alright, we should patrol for an hour before we head back home."
Diamond flew up right besides Shiro as the Magical Boy grabbed the shaft of his Kaleidostick.
"Off we go!" Shiro leapt into the air as the duo flew off to do their rounds for the evening.
-Platinum Hero-
Not too far from his location, an unknown figure watched the boy with crimson red eyes that glowed with chaotic and evil intent.
"So that's the little magician everyone's been talking about…?" he scoffed. "Pathetic. He may have mass amounts of magic power far greater than any human I've met, but compared to me, he's nothing more than a stain on a rug."
"Meow." the cat in the person's arms said.
The individual looked at the cat with a frown. "What do you mean I shouldn't be cocky? I'm a Lord of Chaos, he's just a little human."
The cat's reply was yet another, "Meow."
The person humphed. "Who cares what you say anyways." the individual gave a sinister grin. "I'm going to enjoy playing with him…"
-Platinum Hero-
Shirogane floated down, a cat in his arms.
"Here you go ma'am." the woman took the cat from him and held it lovingly in his arms.
"Oh thank you for getting my cat out of that tree young man."
Shirogane waved her off. "It was nothing, honestly, ma'am, I'm just doing my job." He flew off to help more people. He soon flew over past Central Park, which, due to the cold weather, was more or less empty for the most part, but the snow was still present.
Suddenly, he stopped, feeling something off.
Diamond looked at him with confusion. "Shiro, what's wrong."
The boy didn't reply, he looked all around him, as if looking for something, but couldn't find and/or see it.
However, his feeling proved to be true when a blast of red energy was shot right at him.
"Diamond, Barrier!" The Kaleidostick placed a magic barrier that stopped the attack. After it subsided, they saw just who was the one that fired the beam of red energy.
It was a boy, if his looks were to go by. Black hair on his head, shappened to look like horns, a pale complexion, dressed in a formal attire, a cat in his arms. But his eyes, that's what set Shiro off the most. Eyes, so cold and so full of evil intent.
Shiro furrowed his brows and pointed Diamond at him. "Who the heck are you!?" the other boy just smiled.
"Hello little magician, I am Klarion, Lord of Chaos, and your new Master." Shiro's eyes narrowed.
"Not now or in any other life time you prick!" Klarion's face twisted into something inhuman, and Shiro knew he was in for a tough battle.
"Oh, I think you will." The Witch Boy fired another blast of energy at Shirogane, who dodged the blast as it made contact with the land behind him, exploding upon impact.
The young hero retaliated by swiping his Kaleidostick in an arc wave, sending out scattered blasts of energy all homing in on Klarion.
The Witch Boy rose an arm as a transparent red barrier enacted itself before him, stopping the attacks from making contact. The evil child-like entity only wore a bored expression on his features.
"If that's all you've got, then I'll make this quick." Klarion breathed a torrent of red flames from his lips. Shirogane jumped high and flew out of the way, but the Witch Boy was assistant, and redirected his aim upwards, forcing the hero to fly out of the way.
"Diamond, Staff Form!" The Kaleidostick extended as Shiro twirled it before pointing it upwards. Hundreds of spheres of light formed over heads, and with a swing downwards of his staff, they fell to the earth, causing the area within central park to be engulfed in a large explosion.
The Magical Boy floated down to see if Klarion was down…
Only to be shot out of the air by a blast of red fire and sent tumbling to the ground.
"Shiro!" Diamond exclaimed. The boy sat up, battered, but not beaten just yet.
"I'm fine, Diamond." he assured his partner. The front of his outfit was singed and was smoking slightly, but he was relatively unharmed, all things said and done. "But we have bigger things to worry about."
Just then, they heard a clapping. As the smoke cleared, they saw the Witch Boy was unharmed, an amused smirk on his face. "Not bad, little magician, but to defeat me, you have to be a Lord of Order!" Pillars of flames erupted from the ground, heading straight for Shiro, who didn't have time to react as he was promptly launched into the air from the attack.
The boy landed with a harsh thud and coughed violently, worrying Diamond greatly. "Stay with me Shiro, you can make it through this!" Shirogane stood shakily, using his Kaleidostick as a crutch to keep himself up, while Klarion just gave a vicious laugh.
"HAHAHAHAHA! You're so pathetic, I can't wait till I have you as my servant. The Chaos we'll create will be glorious!" Klarion began to charge an attack, hoping to end the boy right then and there, but then, a voice spoke to Shirogane in his mind.
'There's not much time,' the familiar voice of a Holy Saint spoke in the youth's head, 'You need to Install my card, and only then we'll you have a fighting chance!'
'J-Jeanne?' he asked.
'Hurry before it's to late!' Shiro simply nods as he stood tall, a look of defiance and determination. Klarion mistook that for the boy's defiance for accepting his fate and smiled wickedly.
"Accepting your fate, huh? Fine!" Klarion fired the giant beam of chaos energy. "Then Die!" But before it could make contact, Shirogane uttered his phrase.
"Install: Ruler." The blast consumed him.
"YES! HAHAHAHAHA!" Klarion cackled madly, thinking he had won.
But then, a burst of golden light shined from where Shirogane once stood. Klarion looked on in unabashed shock at the sight that graced his eyes.
Shirogane stood tall, but his appearance had drastically changed.
He now adorned a set of snug fitting purple clothing on his form, an open half-skirt extending from his waist. Over that he wore glimmering silver armor around his abdominal area, gauntlets on his wrists, as well as armor plating covering the boots on his feet. On his head he wore a silver headgear of sorts, a small portion of his black hair extending out into a french braid. At his hip was a sheathed rapier, while in his hands was a majestic flag that billowed in the wind.
Shirogane raised the flag up high as he twirled it, the flag wrapping itself around the pole arm before he pointed the spear tip of the flag at Klarion, who snarled in fury.
"How did you survive that attack!?" Shiro gave him a cool and calm smirk.
"It's quite simple really. This form I've taken gives me resistance to all forms of magic used against me." Klarion eyes widened drastically hearing that.
"WHAT!?" he roared in fury. How does a pathetic little magician have such a power, only he, a Lord of Chaos, should have such a thing!
Too lost in his rage, he never noticed Shiro getting ready to strike. The boy launched himself forwards and with the flag pole raised, he slammed it right into Klarion's side, sending the Witch Boy flying, causing him to crash into a tree with a harsh thud.
Shiro approached the down Lord of Chaos, a calm expression on his face as he spoke. "You say you're strong, but when it comes to what you're physically capable of, you're utterly pathetic, you know that?"
Klarion's features morphed into its inhuman appearance. "Shut up!" He fired a plot of crimson lighting at Shirogane, and know what the other boy did?
He swatted it away like a pesky fly, where it detonated harmlessly away from him. Klarion's face shifted back into its human appearance, a look of shock etched all over his face, before it became a scowl.
To Shiro's surprise, Klarion disappeared in a vortex of crimson fire, disappearing from view. He then notices a faint light from overhead as he sees Klarion floating above in the air.
"That's it! I've had enough of you, pathetic, insignificant, worthless-"
"Okay, I get it, now shut up!" Shiro exclaimed back, a vein slightly throbbing out on his head in annoyance. Man was this guy a brat!
Klarion scowled deeply. "Well then little Platinum hero, lets see how you like it when I kill your precious people right here in the park!" Chaos Magic began to surge around Klarion as the pressure in the air began to grow thick and heavy.
It was also at that time Shirogane noticed a sizable crowd not too far from where he and Klarion had fought, and wondered at that moment.
'Where the heck did all of them come from!?' he shook his head, he can't think of that right now, he had to help them. He raced over to them, looking as though he was gliding across the very earth itself by his great speeds.
He soon found himself before the crowd, and looked at them with a determined look. "Everyone! Remain calm, I'll protect you!" His words seemed to ease them, but not as much as he hoped, while Klarion was ready to fire at them all, and laughed with a victorious smile.
"Let's see if you can not only survive this, but protect the people behind you!" A Magic Seal formed before Klarion, and Shirogane wasted no time as he held up the banner as it unfurled itself and the flag extended outwards as a seemingly heavenly, holy, and golden aura surrounded the young hero.
"Oh my Flag, defend our brethrens!" Klarion fired the beam of Chaos magic, much larger than last time, as Shirogane took one step forward and raised his Banner. "Luminosité Éternelle!"
The people closed their eyes, expecting to meet death's embrace…
But it never came.
They opened their eyes to see an awe inspiring sight. Shirogane held his flag with strength and vigor unseen and matched by the heroes that protected them and their world and its people. The Beam was met with the opposing force of the barrier made by the young magic user, who's will didn't deter whatsoever, and stood strong and proud.
It was a couple moments later that the beam finally subsided, leaving a gaping trench before Shirogane up to his feet, the boy breathing somewhat heavily. From above, Klarion was royally pissed off.
"DAAAAMMMNNN IIIIIITTTT!" He roars before ultimately huffing in anger. "This isn't over Shirogane! I'll be back, just you wait! And next time, you won't be so lucky!"
He vanished through a magic seal to who knows where, and the young hero gave a sigh of relief as his transformation dismissed itself and he returned to his magical boy get up, Diamond, who was thankfully still in staff mode, being his crutch.
"Well that was...something…" was all the boy could manage to say. Diamond, meanwhile, was elated with the results.
"That was amazing Shiro! You successfully Installed your Class Card and saved these people!" Shirogane smiles and nods, but then remembers.
'Oh crap…' and not a moment later were the people swarming him.
"Shirogane, thank you for saving us!"
"You're alright in my books kid!"
"That thing you did with the flag was totally awesome!"
"Can you sign my shirt!"
"New York can rest easy knowing you're around!"
All these and more came from the people around the duo, and Shirogane was a blushing mess, not used to the attention he was receiving, other than the usual ones he got from his family when he did something good.
"Psst, Shiro." Diamond whispered into his ear, "we should get going."
The boy nods, "right." he flew upwards from the crowd of people and gave them an apologetic look. "Sorry everyone, but I have places to be. Till we meet again!" he flew off into the sky and before long, the people no longer saw him in view.
"You did great today Shiro!" Currently, Diamond and Shirogane were sitting over the ledge of a skyscraper, the latter still recovering somewhat from the confrontation with the Witch Boy.
"I guess…" he groaned. "But before I installed Ruler he was handing my butt to me like it was nothing!" Diamond patted his back.
"It's alright, just think of the positives, you stopped the bad guy, saved innocent people, and not only did you successfully Install a Class Card, you also used it's Noble Phantasm!"
The boy tilted his head to the side. "Nobleeee...what now?" Diamond facepalmed.
Should've seen this coming…
"A Noble Phantasm is basically a Heroic Spirit's greatest weapon that embodies their legend. For example, how King Arthur's legend and Noble Phantasm revolve around Excalibur." Shirogane nods.
"So what I used was Ruler's, or Jeanne's, Noble Phantasm." The Kaleidostick nods in conformation.
"Indeed, and thanks to the Class Card, the information was automatically sent to your mind." Diamond then looked off to the side, a confused expression on their 'hypothetical' face. "But still, this situation is more than strange…" Shiro tilted his head once again.
"Strange how…?"
Diamond sighed as he looked at his holder. "The entire situation concerning you, Shirogane. Usually when dealt with, the Class Card becomes just that, a Card, and through the use of it as well as a Kaleidostick as a conduit, you'd be able to Install the various cards in one's deck. But you…" the Stick once again sighed. "You purified an evil spirit when normally you'd have to defeat it, and the Class Card itself now resides within you as a part of your being!"
Shirogane blinked. He was that different…?
"Well, that isn't so bad, is it?" the stick looked at him confused. "I mean, look at it this way, the old man was studying the cards I'm after for a reason, right?" Diamond nods. "So something about them is different from their usual counterpart, so something is bound to be different than how things should be...also, there's the off chance that they might fall into the wrong hands is also something that could happen, so the Cards being in my soul is a plus."
Diamond conceded to his extremely valid point. Zeltretch was far more eccentric as people come and go, so honestly he shouldn't be surprised about the situation they were in. "Fine." he turned back and looked at his holder. "So, now what…?"
Shirogane hummed in thought. "Let's head back home, don't want my parents thinking that I am Shirogane." Diamond nods.
"Agreed." Shiro grabbed the stick. "Commencing, Teleportation." In a flash of silver light, they were gone.
Sinclair-Hoshi Penhouse
Aaron walked though his home and gave a small yawn as he walked down the hallway of the penthouse towards the kitchen. After what happened earlier, he could use something to get back his energy.
The moment he walked in, however, he was surprised to see who was in there.
"Juliet?"
Juliet Sinclair was Aaron's oldest sibling. She was beautiful as well, a perfectly curved body woman would kill for, their mother's luscious dark blonde hair, which was in quite a messy bun, and their father's soft brown eyes. She was currently sitting at the table, dressed in a light blue blouse, a pair of white pants. Not far from where she was, her blue heels laid forgotten.
She had a cup of coffee in hand and gave a small sigh as she finished another gulp of it, but after hearing her name called, she turned and beamed brightly.
"Aaron!" She got up and glomped her baby brother in a hug. "There you are!" She then let him go and gave him a hard look. "Where were you at anyways!? Mom told me you had this thing you were going to but even she didn't know the details!"
The boy sweat dropped.
Juliet was a mix of both parents like he was. Having their mother's kindness, but their father's stubborn attitude as well as temper. She loved to baby him, and out of his three older sisters they were unspokenly the closest.
"I'm taking combat classes, but I didn't give mom the full details because I was worried how she'll react…" Juliet was surprised hearing that. She never thought her bookworm of a brother was taking combat classes.
Aaron felt horrible for lying to his big sister, but he couldn't tell her he was a superhero. But then again he wasn't fully lying either, as he technically was being trained in combat.
"Well okay then, now come, you must be hungry, right?" on que did the boy's stomach grumble, and the young adult giggled in amusement as the boy's cheeks flushed red. "I'm glad I made extra food earlier. Just give me a minute to reheat it."
-Platinum Hero-
The two siblings were sitting at the table across from one another, Aaron eating his food, while Juliet enjoyed her coffee. It wasn't even a minute later did the boy start up a conversation.
"When did you get back?" he asked. "I thought you were back in Japan for school, and interning with Grandpa?" Juliet gave a sigh.
"I was, but I'm taking a vacation. I got in last night and woke up two hours ago…" she took another sip of her coffee. "*sigh*, being the heiress to our family's corporation is hard work…"
Sinclair Industries is known worldwide for its leading edge technology on top of many other things the Company Leads. They sold household appliances, tools, medical equipment, and more, and that's only part of what the company does overall.
The reason the two siblings have different names is because, while Juliet is the Company's heir, Aaron is the Heir of the Magus side...that and he's the only one born with active Magic Circuits, 151 of them to be exact.
Not that he minded either. He loved the magical side of their family, as well as the family's corporation, but magic was more of where he was best at out of all their siblings, who were best at their own thing.
Juliet was, without question, a tactician, much like their Grandfather is, and she'll no doubt make the company better than it already is. The one after her is more of a fashionista, and is going to school for fashion design in Paris. The next was interested in the medical field, and while she lacked the magical circuits for the healing magecraft, she made up for it with determination and understanding of the human anatomy as best as she could. And finally there was himself, who is a magical and academic prodigy, and while he might not know just what exactly he'll do with his life, he has time to think about it.
And with him being his father's heir, it's also the reason why he's the only one to inherit their father's family name, while the girls have their mothers.
Back to the present, Juliet rested her head on an open palm and gave a sigh, before turning her attention to Aaron. "So, I heard New York has a new hero."
The boy nearly choked, a bead of sweat falling down his neck. He gave a hard swallow and nodded. "Uh, yeah, his n-name is Shirogane." She gave a small chuckle.
"Well he's extremely popular back in Japan, seeing as he is a Magical Boy and such. They're already planning a line of clothing, toys, and more from what I gathered…"
Aaron sweatdropped, and majorly. '...didn't see that coming…'
'Agreed.' He heard Jeanne say in his mind, amused by the situation.
'What the-when did you show up?!' she gave a mental shrug.
'For a while, I wanted to see how your regular life was, and I must say, it's pretty interesting.' he gave a mental sigh.
There goes being close to as normal as he can get…
'I can still hear your inner mantra, you do know that, right?' Aaron blushed slightly, and cut off his mental thoughts to her as he resumed his conversation with his sister. "So, should I be expecting Shirogane memorabilia in the coming months?" she nods.
"Indeed." She finished her coffee and stood up. "Well, I should be going now, I have online work I have to get started on." she walks over to Aaron and kisses his head. "I'll see you later little bro, and do, please be careful." She left the kitchen, leaving the boy alone.
-Platinum Hero-
Later, the boy was back in his room, surfing the web of anything of interest, but Diamond was curious on something. "Hey Aaron, I have a few questions." the grey eyed youth looked at his partner.
"What's up?"
"You're family's rich, right?" he nods. "Then why haven't I've seen any servants yet?" Aaron gave a small chuckle.
"Well, we have a few butlers, but they come by often, and a few maids who also come often to clean up the place. Besides, this isn't the actual main house." Diamond tilted his head.
"What do you mean by main house…?" Aaron smirked.
"You see Diamond, my family is one of the top three richest families alive, right next to the Luthor Family and the Wayne Family. Our main house is in Japan though, while the Penthouse is more of a...formality, to put it lightly. We have other places to, such as out privet Island in the Bahamas, our villa in California, and our manor in Spain."
Diamond gave the boy a flat look. His family was loaded for life and wasn't even spoiled…
HOW!?
"How are you not a spoiled brat!?" the Kaleidostick couldn't help but exclaim. Aaron smirked lightly.
"My parents raised me like a normal kid here, such as the fact we cook and somewhat clean on our own living here. They wanted me and my sisters to have a normal - well, as normal as it can get - childhood." He smiled. "But grandma loves to spoil us…"
"And you're grandfather…?"
Aaron's entire demeanor changed, and what Diamond saw next was embedded into his memory. The boy's soft and warm grey eyes became as cold as ice and steel, his smirk replaced by a scowl as his entire expression darkened as the room's temperature seemingly dropped.
"Do not speak of that man around me...clear…?" his cold and frigid words held resentment and malice within them, sending a harsh shudder down Diamond's shaft and the Kaleidostick nods vigorously.
"Crystal!"
Aaron's demeanor softened as the youth gave a tired sigh.
"Look, me and him don't have the...best relationship to put it lightly, and I'm leaving it at that." While Diamond was heavily curious about the subject, even he knew better than to push the matter.
"Well, what about your grandma?" At this did Aaron's expression lighten up instantly.
"She's the best grandma ever!" he paused. "Then again that might be me being biased, but who cares! Anyways, she's a fierce and headstrong woman who takes no crap and is not afraid to wack someone upside the head. She's also very smart to, and helps the business every so often. She always sends extravagant gifts of money for my sister's or my birthdays, or comes herself and brings them with her."
Diamond couldn't help but wonder though, "How extravagant are we talking about…?" Aaron had to think on this one.
"She got my three oldest sisters cars - although Yuki can't drive her's yet, got my second oldest sister a pet peacock, gave me my first phone…" as he continued to list everything, Diamond could only look on in shock that grew with ever new item he heard. "...and recently she told me she planned on getting me a yacht when I turn 18."
Diamond looked at him blankly. "...yeah, you're grandma loves to spoil all of you." that's as light as Diamond could put it, she wanted to spoil them rotten it seemed.
"I guess…" Aaron shrugged. He sometimes didn't see the appeal of money, but it had its uses. "Anyways, we have other things to worry about, like the guy call...Klarion?" Diamond nods.
"Agreed, his magic reeks of pure Chaos Energy."
Aaron eyes narrowed slightly. "Isn't Chaos energy like, extremely dangerous to people?" Diamond nods.
"It's a central force of absolute creation, alongside its counterpart, Order Energy. They've existed since the beginning, and will exist after the end, one can not exist without the other, such as with the light and the dark."
Aaron looked down in thought. So he had an enemy who possibly embodied the will of Chaos itself…
Typical.
"Well, we need more information pertaining to him, and I know just who to ask." Aaron walked over to his desk and open a drawer, rummaging through it before pulling out a small earpiece. He placed it in his ear. "Shirogane to Batman, I have a problem I need help with…"
Night Time
The blanket of night has fallen on the city that never sleeps, and Shirogane stood atop one of the many skyscrapers that filled the city itself.
"How soon will he be here, Shiro?" The Magical Boy sighes.
"Any time now Diamond, Batman shows up when he wants to and when he needs to so just be-" Shiro stopped has the fox ears on his head twitched as he gave a sigh. "He's here."
The boy turned around, and true to his words, the Dark Knight of Gotham City stood there in his dark, foreboding glory. He calmly approached Shirogane and asked. "What is it that you need to know?"
"What information do you have on somebody named Klarion?" Batman's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Unfortunately not too much, but I know somebody who can help you more than I can." Shirogane and Diamond exchanged glances.
Salem, Massassuchets
"This is the place…?" The Stick and boy duo had teleported to where they had told them to go, but all they found was an empty plot of land. Shirogane looked at the golden key Batman had given him.
Diamond floated up besides the boy and gave a low hum. "There's strange magic here, that's for sure." Diamond then looked at his holder. "Try using your eyes to see."
Aaron looked at Diamond strangely. "Am I not seeing already?" Diamond facepalmed...or as close to what he could for facepalming.
"Just channel magic into your eyes!" The boy nods as he focuses his magic into his eyes.
He saw the world in a dark grey hue, but what stood out before him was the shining outline of a keyhole. He stopped channeling magic into his eyes and approached the spot before him, thrusting the key forwards as it disappeared into the keyhole and he turned it.
Next thing the duo knew, a giant tower fazed into life before them. The blinked somewhat owlishly as they took in the sight before them.
"...well I'll be damned." Diamond muttered in awe. Shirogane opened the door as they entered the tower, but as soon as they were in, the door slammed shut behind them, surprising them greatly.
But then, a golden figure shimmered into view, revealing an aged man who appeared to be a projection of sorts.
"You have used the key to enter the Tower of Fate, but the Tower does not recognise you. State your name and purpose for entering the tower." The Stick and magus shared a look.
"Uh, hi? I'm Shirogane, or my actual name is Aaron Hoshi, this is my Kaleidostick, Magical Diamond. We have come looking for answers on who is Klarion and what he wants with me?" The projection's eyes widened.
"I see…" they stepped aside as a door appeared and opened. "Enter through here, and your questions will be answered." the projection vanished.
Shirogane and Diamond walked through the door and were surprised to see the nicely decorated interior of the place. And that's where they saw the man from before, only this time, he was the real deal.
"I see you have come to ask about Klarion." he said. Diamond flew forwards and nods.
"Indeed sir, we want to know why such a person has so much Chaos Energy inside of him and what his goal was as to try and attain my holder." the man nods.
"Interesting…" the man stood up. "Where are my manners, I am Kent Nelson, but I used to be known as Dr Fate, now, follow me, and I'll answer your questions." the duo did so as Nelson began to explain.
"You see, Klarion is known as a Lord of Chaos, a being who embodies Chaos and loves to spread it, using people, causing mayhem and destruction wherever he goes." Shirogane and Diamonds exchanged looks of shock and surprise. "He might have been after you so he could use you to further his goals, what they are, well...that's anybody's guess."
The trio entered a type of treasure room and upon seeing all the magical trinkets and artifacts, Shirogane and Diamond were enthralled by it all. Nelson smiled slightly at their looks and found the sight quite amusing.
"But, where there is Chaos, there's Order to counteract it, which is where Dr Fate comes into play."
They approached a glass case and the contents inside got a stunned look from Shirogane. A golden helmet sat on a stand, the helm gleaming in the dim light of the room.
"This is the Helmet of Fate. It holds the will of a Lord of Order, who opposes the Lords of Chaos such as Klarion. It holds great power, and in the wrong hands will bring about only disaster." Shirogane approached the glass case to get a closer view.
"Amazing…" his hand touched the glass.
But upon contact, the Helmet sent a jolt of energy right into his palm, causing him and the others to jump back.
"What the heck was that!?" he exclaimed, utterly confused.
"Are you hurt lad?" Kent asked. Shirogane paused and looked down at his hand.
"N-no, but the sudden event took me off guard I guess." Diamond hums in thought. What could this mean for the future?
"Well, I think we need to get going, right Diamond?" Kaleidostick was shaken from his thoughts by his holder's question.
"Oh, uh, yes, indeed, we don't need your family getting worried if they notice you're gone." Kent nods.
"I'll see you both out. And remember lad, you're always welcomed here at the tower." Shirogane nods to him as they walked to the front door of the tower.
"Thank you again Mr Nelson." the man waved him off.
"It was nothing lad, but also, one last thing. Like with the Helmet of Fate, that anchors the Lord of Order to our Reality, the Lord of Chaos also needs one, and without it, they're sent back to their world."
Shirogane and Diamond looked at him for three seconds before it clicked.
"His Cat!" They both exclaimed. Kent nods.
"It may look like it, but it's not a cat. Oh, would you look at that, we're here already." The duo turned to see that they were already in front of the entrance door.
Shirogane gave the man a smile, "Thanks for the help Mr Nelson." The man smiled back.
"It's the least I could do." the door opened as Shirogane and Diamond exited. "Remember, the tower welcomes you always." and the door shut behind them.
