Thanks for everyone who has already followed! Please review! If I didn't mention it before (and I'm pretty sure I didn't), this is six years or so after the war. This put Zuko at 23 and Katara at 21.Enjoy! I'll try to update more.

Katara poked the fruit in the stand. Even if she was staying at the plentiful and ever so fancy Fire Nation Palace with Zuko, she still enjoyed going out and perusing the market.

She loved fruit so much. They were juicy and soft and she had never had anything like it at South Pole. This stand didn't have any strawberries, which were her favorite, but they had a surplus of fresh mangos.Zuko's favorite! She couldn't believe her luck. Katara decided she would surprise him in his office with his favorite fruit.

She would do anything to make him smile.

After turning around from the stand, she ran smack into someone, causing them to drop their bag of fruit.

"Oh! I'm so sorry!" she called and made eye contact with a noblewomen's lady in waiting.

"No, it's fine, my lady. It's my fault. I should have been looking around me." She looked around my age, with the usually pale Fire Nation skin and golden eyes, but her hair was a lighter shade than anyone Katara had ever seen. She scrambled to pick up everything and Katara could practically see her melting

"It's all right. Here, let me help," Katara knelt down and began picking up her items. "My name is Katara, what's yours--?"

"YUA!" a shrill female voice screamed down the market. The woman, surrounded by ladies-in-waiting, stormed down the alleyway where all the shops were.

The woman Katara was helping (she assumed that was Yua) froze and turned a deep red. Her movements to pick up all the items got jerky as she hurried. "Yes, Lady Mai?" Yua called.

Katara froze as she stood up. "Mai--?"

Katara finally saw the noblewomen who was storming at Yua. Indeed, it was Mai, in all her furious glory.

Katara usually saw Mai bored or her face neutral, but Mai was livid.

Making eye contact with her, Katara saw Mai flinch and flip out a fan to hide her face.

"You--" Mai nonchalantly said from behind the fan.

"Mai, look--"

"Are those MANGOS?"

"Mai--"

"How many times to I have to tell you, you barbaric water tribe scum? Zuko was-- excuse me, is mine. Attempting to seducehim with mangos, is low."

"Mai! We will only ever be friends!"

"And yet I still find you spending every waking second fawning 'Zuko! Oh, Zuko!' Katara, I've tried to be nice these past few times, but seriously I am getting upset!"

"Mai, we're just great friends--"

"You better hope so," Mai drew a knife and threw it at the bottom of Katara's paper bag, causing the mangos to spill all over the paved road. "Yua! Wash these fruit and send them to Zuko as a gift. I'll deal with you, servant scum, when we get back to the house."

"Yes, Lady Mai," Yua whispered, picking up the fruit and putting it into her own bag.

"Lady Katara, you are dismissed. Return to wherever you came from." Mai spoke, crisply and cleanly behind her fan, refusing to make eye contact with Katara.

"I'm at the palace, Mai, and you know it," Katara spat. She glared at Mai one last time before spinning on her heel and returning the way she came.

"Mai sent me mangos?" Zuko looked at the pile on his desk. He sighed and ordered two guards to enter. "Send the mangos to the kitchen. Po can use them for dinner."

The guard nodded before scooping up the mangos and carrying them away.

The second guard stood there awkwardly for a moment as Zuko scribbled something on a scroll and sealing it with the Fire Lord seal.

"And you," Zuko grumbled, "Get this letter to Mai as soon as possible."

The guard grabbed the scroll and took off.

Zuko rubbed his temples. He could feel a migraine coming on.

Mai,

Just because you sente mangos doesn't mean I'm taking you back as my girlfriend.

-Zuko

Mai broke a vase when she threw the scroll across the room.
