Cam felt the rain hit her skin. Her blue eyes were dulled from the years of pain at the old house. She walked down the path towards the house. It was twisted and muddy from the rain. A raven flew out of a tree as she passed. She could hear it screeches in the background. The grey sky had not cleared in days. Strands of hair clung to her face. The house came into view, its stone walls having moss along the sides, the windows were so fogged you couldn't see inside. As she stepped on the stairs the loud creaking sound got lost in her mind. She had gotten so used to all the flaws of the house they didn't even affect her anymore. She got to the large spruce door and pulled on the golden knob. It didn't budge. She kept trying until the door came unjammed and swung open with a large squealing sound. A large man appeared at the door. His rusty eyes gazing down at her. His stance was proud and strong. She lowered her gaze to the ground in respect. The long silence was only broken by a pre-teen boy running down the stairs, an older boy chasing after him and telling him to stop. She couldn't help but laugh at the scene. The man looked at her with a disapproving glare.

"Sorry Rick," She quickly replied. Her eyes glimmered softly. She cared for her brothers more than she would ever be genuinely sorry about anything Rick disapproved of. She stepped into the house and headed up the stairs, the musky smell making her sneeze.

"Dawin," She called to her younger brother, "Come upstairs."

Cam sat on the roof, just outside her bedroom window. Looking up at the stars. Her eyes reflected the light from each speck in the sky. Lost in her thoughts she started to close her eyes. It was silent and peaceful. Just then a rock hit the window behind her and she was snapped out of her mind and peace. Looking down she noticed a boy her age, with red hair and blue eyes.

"Kay? What are you doing here!" She yells down "Get out of here before you get me in big trouble!"

"You'll be fine Cam," He calls. The rain-drenched boy sat below the house. Maybe she would be, but was it worth the risk? The risk of her death and maybe even others.

"Fine. Get up here" She says as he smirks and climbs up onto a tree and then the roof.
