First Arc The Child of The Sea

Chapter I Dreams and Realities

Part 1 - Anomaly

It was a calm and serene night.

In a small but cozy room, a boy of about six years old, woke up due to a sudden clap of thunder that rang noisily.

It was certainly unusual for the sky to thunder in the middle of winter. If it was anyone other than the little boy or his mother, they would think of the phenomenon as very much unusual and would have become perplexed. But the clap of thunder was certainly not a natural phenomenon, but a work of a mythical being, a very angered mythical being.

Looking over at the clock, he found out that it was already near midnight. What is it this time? Forcefully getting awakened from the sound of thunder, the boy sat up in the bed. What had gotten old thunder-pants fart in the middle of the night? he thought irritably due to losing the chance to have a comfortable slumber yet again. Yesterday, it was nightmares that disrupted his sleep. And today…

Sighing tiredly, the boy thought further , if there is a God of Night, he or she should just quit their job.

If one is related to the mythical world in any sort, one will get to know that casual claps of thunder are signs either tells that someone making a mortally unbreakable oath, a divine being losing their cool, or a certain king of a pantheon getting rusty in controlling their power. Certainly, it was a pissed off divine being this time, even the little boy could tell that.

And the boy… Who was he?

In a perspective completely unrelated to the boy, the answer would be pretty much simple. Any hardcore fantasy novel reader would certainly climax from pleasure if they were to understand the boy's name and his unique situation. But in the boy's perspective? Well he had been ecstatic too. At first. But all that joy lasted until a giant idiot with one eye less, came to him for a taste of his blood.

Certainly, it was not that the boy's blood was a delicacy.

But the weird things stalking him simply did not care about anything. They only wanted him dead. One-eyed ogres with a meagre amount of brain cells, seductive women whose appeal that had gotten lost due to their bronze donkey legs and more importantly dogs that might have been a product of a mad scientist with a strong belief in hell.

Those were only the common monstrosities he had encountered.

Going back to the initial question, the boy's identity was an enigma which would certainly not be an enigma if you were a frequent fantasy novel reader.

Well…

He was a reincarnated individual. Born Into a body of a newborn. With most of his past life's memories intact.

Realizing that he would not be able to get any sleep, the boy stood up from the bed walking over to the table where a neatly maintained diary laid closed. Sitting in the nearby chair he opened the diary. The diary contained gibberish that nobody would have understood if they were unfamiliar with Sanskrit. Well he couldn't let others know its content for the sake of the world to maintain its course.

Yes, the content was that much important.

The diary contained his future plans as well as information on certain events that had yet to happen. Turning to a certain page he read.

[First Event – The Lightening Thief]

[Best case scenario – catching the thief in the act.]

[Objectives – Enter Camp Half-Blood at ten, obtain gods recognition, Build his own crowd…]

After skimming through the page, he turned to the previous page that contained much more lines than the last one.

[Mission 0 – Achieve max level in the skill, Healing]

[Mission 1 – Revive Thalia and have her contain till the right time]

[Mission 2 – Rescue the de Angelo siblings from the accursed Casino]

[Mission 3- Get the big three children to join you.]

Having a long look at the text, the little boy sighed loudly, an act unfitting for his age. He looked more like a forlorn middle-aged man at the moment. I won't be able to even achieve the first mission at this pace, he thought closing the book. And he willed in his mind, 'Status'.

It was a Status screen; that can be normally encountered in RPG games.

Part 2 – Circumstances

Percy Jackson was an angel. At least that was what his mother thought so.

After caring for over seven years, Sally Jackson believed that she understood her little boy the most. Well, she was correct. Nobody knew him better than her, and that was what Percy thought so too. But at the same time, she knew too little about him as well.

She knew when she birthed him that he would become extraordinary, and would face a extreme amount danger daily dose of as long as he lives. The only thing she could do was to make him enjoy his life for the most part by shielding him from that dangers. So, she decided to do her best for her little boy. If the said little boy knew about it, he did not show it, but he sure made his mother's life easier.

Getting up from her bed, Sally started her daily routine. After a simple wash, she started on breakfast. She did not waste her time on waking up Percy for she knew that he would wake up by himself. In fact, she could hear the sound of the shower working from the bathroom, meaning her little boy had already woken up and having his morning shower.

After several minutes, a simple dish was prepared and was on the table. Sally looked at results of her work in satisfaction. If it was ten years prior, she was not sure in her ability to cook such a meal by herself perfectly. Solitude made her proficient in almost everything she did daily. Ten years of loneliness, except for the company of a certain divine being and his offspring. They motivated her more to strive higher .

Speak of the devil, he appears, she thought with a smile.

With an unruly mop of black hair on his head and distinct set of eyes that shined in a sea-green luster, a boy with a scrawny build came down the stairs with no hint of sleepiness. But Sally saw more. She was, after all, the said boy's mother. She noticed the almost imperceptible dark circles under her son's eyes, a clear sign of lacking sleep.

So, without hiding the concern in her voice she asked, "Percy, are you okay? Trouble with sleeping?"

She knew about what was in it there for her son just for being the person he is: an offspring of a deity and herself. So, the sadness in her voice leaked out just a bit in that utterance, but she believed it was negligible and her son would not notice.

Well, how naïve of her.

"I'm okay mom. It was nothing. Just a strange nightmare. That's all.", he replied as if by reflex.

Sally knew it was certainly not 'okay', but she did not pry into the matter further, for she knew, with the wits her son had, he would certainly be able to win over a measly nightmare. So, she did the best thing she could to hasten his progress in recovery.

"Hm…", Sally Jackson mused exaggeratedly for her son to see her pondering.

Well, Percy did not disappoint. "What is it, Mom?". Her ever so curious son questioned.

"What do you think about going for a little trip to Montauk?", she asked, knowing full well what his answer would be.

"Can we? Really?", After giving nod of confirmation to his over-enthusiastic son, she watched him whoop in joy.

She knew that his son needed a distraction from all the 'weirdness' he felt and she was ready to gladly give it to him. It was as simple as that. She was never a mother to be excessive about discipline. She never had gone against her way to discipline him and she was not forceful or harsh with Percy either. She might get sad or disappointed but she was never a one to get angry with Percy.

And she had a smile on her face that did not dissipate or change even when she closed her eyes to sleep.

Part 3 – Birth

Unlike other newborns, a certain infant with black tufts of hair on his head, did not cry. Not because he was born with a disability in vocal organs or simply passed away being unable to accustom to the world, but due to the bewilderment he felt at the moment. And how could a newborn become bewildered in the first place?

Going back a several minutes to the past, when he opened his eyes, he found himself in the hands of a woman wearing a nurse attire.

And there was a voice full of wonder emerged from someone nearby. Looking around he spotted a man in his late twenties with messy black hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He had sea-green eyes that held both restlessness and waves of excitement and joy. Next to him on the bed, holding the man's hand was a beautiful woman of early twenties. She looked exhausted.

She had sweat glistening on her skin and the hospital gown she wore was soaked with sweat. His keen eyes could even notice the full breasts and the pointers at the top through the fabric. Looking at her face, he could see a joyous smile lighting up her whole face. She appeared ecstatic. And the way she held the man's hand let him knew that they were a couple.

It made him realize his situation and who she was.

She was his new mother.

And he had been reincarnated.

But then his vision faltered and his eyes became blurry. His ears started ringing.

And then a glowing text appeared in his vision out of nowhere.

Initializing the modules…

Activating the interface…

'Primal Chaos Inheritance – Supporting System' successfully initiated.

In his blurred vision, he saw the clear strings of texts that made no sense whatsoever. He had understood that he had been reincarnated as a baby and gotten a new mother and a father, but how could he think like a grown person. Do babies get born with memories of their past life with them? And with strings of texts in his vision.

Looking around, he found the others looking at him with somewhat expectant and puzzled faces.

Looking at their faces mentally facepalmed.

Newborns should cry.

And he certainly should too, for the appearance purposes.

Well, better late than never.

With that thought, he cried at the top of his little lungs and found out the puzzlement leaving the onlookers' faces.

The awaiting response was something he should certainly expect. But the uniqueness of the situation had made him a little muddleheaded at the moment. Or maybe it was the mismatch between mental and physical age. Anyhow the response made by her mother to his crying made him a flustered mess for a brief moment of a dozen seconds.

He was drawn over towards his mother's warm chest from where she deliberately uncovered one of her breasts from the fabric of her gown, the organ that stood enormous in the newborn's eyes. The enormous half globe of meat was certainly would have been attractive if its owner was not his biological mother and he, not an infant. In fact, the breast was perfect in shape, size and color.

But what attracted the eyes of the reincarnated lifeform was the circular area at frontmost area which had a darkish hue and an erect tip, the size of a pencil eraser. Its appearance aroused his desire, not of sex but of hunger. So, with the urge from his very body, he dived forward and captured his mother's nipple in his mouth and chewed on it, milking her.

In the next few months, he learned most of his circumstances. He was in a different reality that was almost similar to one he was from. And he was in the past when compared to the almost parallel timelines of the two realities. His name was Percy. Percy Jackson. The future legendary demigod. It certainly made him exhilarated, at the same time terrified of his future.

He learned of his surroundings, and planned for the future. And he did not forget to train himself as much as possible, as well.

Like that, seven years passed.

In those seven years Sally became his mother in both his heart and mind, even though she felt like a brat when he combined his previous life's experiences at first. He managed to learn about his mother a lot, some things that would have made him flustered and have a nosebleed if he was a teenager or an adult.

One thing that to mention was that the apartment they live on was situated in a secluded corner of the city and the apartment itself was at the top end of the building, making it isolated from other nearby apartments but near enough that, his scent was perfectly covered with the mortals' scent. Due to that he and Sally had more privacy and enjoyed the serenity in the cityscape albeit in a such a way.

So, it did not come as a surprise, for her to stay naked inside the apartment when there was only little Percy was around. And Percy, not as an infant but as a reincarnated being, drank the site in full. It actually made sense why even a deity would fall over such a mortal, because she was more than worthy. From her wavy brown hair to her dainty toes she had a figure that did not lose to a goddess of beauty.

And little Percy took full advantage of that, almost for three years.

It was when he became two years old that he unlocked a new function of the system he was born with. It was called Analysis, and could be used to analyze beings and objects in the visible area. The first human he used [Analysis] was, of course, his mother.

Part 4 – Treasure

It was almost the start of the start of the winter. Coldness was seeping into the environment with skies gaining a grey hue in its entirety. Wintry atmosphere had made all the beings living, a reduction in their efficiency. Most of the animals were holing themselves in their homes. And at the beach, it was no different sans the unintelligent fishes most of whom were roaming in icy cold sea water.

It was the beach of Montauk.

Some hundred meters away from the sea and on the beach was a small cottage made of entirely wood. It could be seen to be regularly maintained. And suddenly there was a sound of a car engine and beat down car made its appearance at the far end of the beach. Blue in color, the car was an old Corvette, and a car certainly outlived its life considering its appearance.

The front doors of the car were opened after the car's roaring engine quietened down. And came out a woman in late twenties and a small boy of around seven years old. The woman had wavy brown hair and a beautiful figure while the boy looked scrawny but energetic unlike the shivering woman. It was apparent the pair was mother and son regarding their slight resemblances in appearance.

Percy was in disbelief when he gained information about his mother, his sweet and beautiful mother. It took Sally telling him their plan for the weekend to make him snap out of the state of disbelief. Sally was slightly concerned too, due to her son's abrupt silence. But soon, the mother and son duo calmed down and came out from their reveries and carried on with their work.

In the afternoon, they packed some of their clothes and put them in their car along with other equipment needed for their stay at the cottage at Montauk. Then, the mother and son duo started their journey with anticipation. But it was clear that both were nervous and alert at the same time, for any unforeseen circumstances. Monster attacks were quite random on the road, after all.

Sally did not know what his son was thinking or that underneath the exciting front he was displaying, he was extremely nervous. Well she did not need to know that.

It took them several hours before they finally arrive at the beach. Parking the car, they came out of the car each carrying a bag. Stopping at the door of the cottage Sally put down the bags she held on the ground and proceeded to open the door unlocking it. They went inside then carrying their luggage.

Sally immediately started to clean the interior of the cabin after shooing Percy out and asking him to go far into the sea. Happily, Percy ran out of the cabin heading towards the beach.

Reincarnating as the legendary hero made him share the same attraction towards the sea. It certainly was not a bad thing as he remembered himself to be an environmentalist in his previous life. Walking over to the sea, the waves weaved around his feet soaking them. He immersed himself in the momentary bliss. His worries disappearing temporarily and his chaotic heart becoming extremely calm all of a sudden.

He thought about his rebirth. His system. All the mysterious things he experienced so far. Then he thought about his mother. His future girlfriend. And finally, he thought about his future plans. He went through all of it organizing his mind and memories.

His first objective would be to relieving from their financial issues. His mother was working overtime for his wellbeing. If he had not felt guilty all these years being a reincarnated being with an age that could make him Sally's senior, he should just dig a hole and die. So, getting rid of their financial burdens was a must and he should start work on it immediately.

He sighed, if I could find a treasure worth of gold coins, he thought earnestly.

It was at that moment a blaring notification blink into his retina, containing the very words he so earnestly wished for.

[Mission: Treasure Hunt at Deep Seas]

Of course, he accepted the mission in an instant.

Part 5 – Guides

Diving in the water, felt no discomfort and he could breathe just as he was on land. Furthermore, he felt himself dry despite diving in the largest body of liquid on the planet. Demigods are amazing, he thought in wonder never getting bored of the phrase despite having used said divine powers for almost five long years. With those thoughts, he dived deeper reaching towards the darkness and the unknown.

Various sea creatures roamed around him, frequently nuzzling into him and it was at that moment he had a thought, I can communicate with these fellows. Just after he thought that a cacophony of sounds assaulted him all at once. His mind was in disarray for a moment and finally he regained his bearings after controlling the volume of the voices ringing inside his mind.

Inquiring various things from the fishes that had the intelligence of a three-year-old human, he discovered many things, the whereabouts of the treasure being one of them.

He was addressed as the Prince or Your Highness confirming his identity as the prince of the sea. He felt awkward suddenly getting addressed as royalty by a bunch of sea creatures but he did not show his feelings outwardly.

He learned that he was the only prince apart from the godly offspring of Poseidon, Triton, at the moment. It seemed that the Big Three's Pact was still in effect.

He did not discover any information about the treasure from the sea creatures at first, but after careful probing and a few descriptions about gold silver and ruins, he was told of the location and even the little fellows volunteered to guide him there. Percy was grateful and accepted their help and followed them.

It did not take long for them to reach the ruins where the treasure should be hidden. Diving through the ruins he reached a dilapidated building. Entering the building, soon he found himself in a circular room with its walls were filled with ancient symbols. They were neither Greek nor Roman or any other language he had encountered so far.

The floor consisted of one-meter wide disc's one surrounding the other, the last reaching the walls of the room. When he walked over to the middle of the room the rings/discs glowed dimly. After reaching the center he noticed that the middle circle was the part that glowed the brightest so far. Suddenly there was a voice speaking inside his mind.

'First Test of The Heir of the Conqueror'

'The Test of Willpower'

And then there was the usual gloomy silence.

The system flashed another string of texts a couple of seconds later.

[Mission Content Updated. Please check out the details.]

He willed to show the 'Ongoing Missions' page.

[Mission: Treasure Hunt at Deep Seas]

[Description: There is an abandoned treasure hidden deep in the nearby seas consist of golds, silver and equipment suiting a demigod warrior. Head there and uncover the treasure and claim it as your own and safely return with the spoils. Arrange the parts of the puzzle completely to acquire hidden rewards.]

[Rewards: Experience Module and Evolution Module, Free Level Up]

[Time Limit: 4 hours]

There were no changes except for the new sentence at the end of mission description about a hidden reward. If the hidden reward could be obtained by completely arranging all the pieces the treasure should be able to acquire by arranging the pieces halfway. With that thought in mind he stood at the center of the room willing the circular floor he stood on to rotate towards a certain direction.

With a deep rumbling sound, the platform he stood on rotated to face the direction he desired. And then there was a series of clicks and gears turning. Finally, a small circular part directly overhead in the ceiling of the room opened like a lens of a camera. With a 'shua' sound a fountain of gold and silver coins poured onto Percy. If not for their lower velocity in the water, he might have gotten injured from the sudden glowing flow of coins.

With a thought he conjured a cone shaped barrier made of hardened water over his head. And it proved to be a wise choice as the next items to fell down was various kinds of equipment. When the last equipment hit the floor the opening in the ceiling closed up, reverting the room to what it was before save for the mountain of coins and equipment surrounding Percy.

He mentally commanded his system to store the coins and the equipment inside his inventory and the room became empty just as it was once before.

Part 6 - Inheritance

Stepping onto the first ring surrounding the mid circular platform, he willed it to rotate towards aa certain direction. But unlike the first time it took more time and more effort to make the part of the platform move. Just like that he managed to move eight out of nine rings surrounding the circular platform to their correct positions.

How did he know they were correctly placed?

The whole platform contained a complex runic symbol like a character of the Chinese alphabet. The middle part of the symbol was arranged to face the entrance of the room. And the rest was much easier as he only had to complete the character by rotating the discs observing the middle.

After resting for full twenty minutes he started working on the last disc. Fully deploying his will, he managed to rotate the last disc to its correct position after about an hour. His mental power depleted, his vision tunneled, promptly making him sit on the floor. But he did not manage to get a decent rest, as a bright ball of light grew in the middle of the room and suddenly flew at him.

Mentally exhausted, he was unable to create a defensive shield against the incoming ball of light. The light collided with his body but he felt nothing. And then it entered inside his body, disappearing from his view entirely. And suddenly he felt a vast amount of power pulsating inside his body empowering it minutely. He could feel himself getting stronger physically and mentally.

The process continued for about five minutes. After that there was three seconds of inactivity and a notification appeared in his vision.

[You have discovered the Prime Thalasian Inheritance. Do you want to proceed with the inheritance process?]

He willed to proceed with the inheriting process.

Suddenly a huge amount of information ceaselessly entered his mind giving him vast amount of information about science, combat, crafting and creatures related to a lost race known as Thalasians. At the end of the progress he was suffering with a slight migraine due to the excessive amount of information.

The whole ruin rumbled showing signs of collapsing and the walls of the room became fractured with cracks. He hurriedly departed from the ruins, postponing the self-inspection until he safely arrives at the beach.

After nearly an hour, he was back at the beach. It had taken approximately three hours for him to complete the mission and safely return.

[Mission: 'Treasure Hunt at Deep Seas' was completed successfully]

And suddenly he felt the empowering feeling he felt at the ruin all over again, but the feeling was not so powerful like the last time.

Percy Jackson felt faint after looking through the strings of texts. So much improvement with one mission after years of stagnation. He looked towards the cabin, where his mother was. He could smell the aroma of a perfectly cooked meal all the way from the cabin. His stomach rumbled signaling it noticed the smell too. So, deciding to think about the next step after eating the lunch, he walked towards the cabin.

Part 7 – Revelations

It was the second day of their three-day vacation at Montauk. They would be departing in the noon the next day. Percy felt that it was a pity they had to return to the busy metropolis, where they might not get anymore peace they enjoyed here at Montauk. Nevertheless, they had to return for their lives centered around there. Sally had to go to work and he had to attend school.

After a thinking for a whole night, he decided to come clean of his secrets with Sally. She deserved to know and there were no negative consequences even if he told her. In fact, she could actively support him if she knew about him. So that was what he did in the dinner.

The whole cabin was silent except for the sound of the waves crashing in the distance. Percy had just finished confessing everything to Sally. Looking at Sally, whose face had become expressionless, Percy was getting nervous. Would she explode after knowing that I have hidden a lot from her? More importantly wouldn't she hate me for possessing his son's body. No! He acquired the body when he born.

Percy's thoughts kept revolving in a cycle of negativity. And finally, after an excruciatingly slow minute later, Sally opened her mouth.

"Why didn't you tell me all of this earlier? Hm. No, I can understand. With your thinking process, I think you did it for my own sake. I know that but I will not let you carry burdens by yourself.", she uttered emotionally, her eyes becoming moist. "And you should know better Percy, I will never think any less of you, just because you have your past life's memories.", she finished.

Percy felt that a huge burden had been lifted off from his shoulders and dived into his mother's embrace. Percy felt relieved. Sally is the best mom there is in existence.

A certain mother of gods in a divine palace suddenly sneezed…

The mother and the son duo hugged each other in earnest and released all of their pent-up emotions. They spent nearly a minute shedding tears, and thereafter they laughed witnessing the other's face full of tears that they had not encountered nearly for years. After stabilizing themselves they went to bed, Percy snuggling into his mother's embrace.
