Tenzin

At four years old, Kya's favorite hobby was chasing Bumi around and hurling ice chunks at him. Bumi, despite not being a non-bender, fought back against his sister. He would catch her small ice chunks and throw them back at her. Sometimes she would block them, other times she would not.

Aang would sometimes join in on the fun, teaching his children simple combat moves through play. He worked with Bumi on the airbender strategy of avoiding attacks and moving like a leaf, although Bumi preferred to take things head-on, especially his sister's ice chunks.

Katara used to play with them too but had grown too big with the new baby on the way. She went on missions while pregnant with Bumi, taught many waterbenders while pregnant with Kya, and was determined to take it easy during this pregnancy. The baby was due in only a few weeks, and she wanted to savor the lack of infant screams.

While lounging on a couch in their new Airtemple Island home, Katara's two young children ran around outside with their father, hurling ice at each other, Katara smiled when she saw the joy her children brought to Aang, and even laughed when Aang produced air scooters for his children. The baby inside of her stirred around and kicked her hard for laughing. She had a feeling this baby would be more serious than the others.

"You're going to be a little stoic, aren't you?" she laughed down to her stomach. The baby kicked her again, but not nearly as hard. Katara leaned back into the couch and watched her children and husband.

"Look out, Kya!" Bumi yelled as he threw more ice at his sister. Just as she had done to Aang last year, Bumi's ice hit Kya right in the cheek, leaving a small cut. Kya fell off her air scooter, and tears began to fill her blue eyes. Bumi and Aang got off their scooters to help the little girl.

Kya had landed near one of the fountains in the courtyard. The water inside was clean and streaming. She dipped her little hand in and let the water wrap around it. She held her hand to her face and let the water begin to heal her face. Aang and Bumi watched, stunned by her ability. It was clear that Kya was a good bender, but they didn't realize just how good she really was.

Bumi turned to his father. "I told you!" he yelled.

"And you were right," Aang said. Kya's abilities still left him in shock.

Katara hurried off the couch upon witnessing her daughter's skill. The baby was unhappy by the sudden movement and squirmed around in her.

"Is she healing herself?" Katara asked.

Aang nodded his head.

When Kya felt her face was back to normal, she bent the water back into the fountain. She was going to make more icicles to throw at Bumi, but she was met with stares from her family. The young waterbender felt intimidated.

"Did I do something wrong?" she asked with burning cheeks.

"No, sweetie," Katara doted on her daughter.

"Then why are you staring at me?" she asked, still feeling embarrassed by their stares.

Bumi, being the older, intuitive brother he is, tapped Kya's shoulder and began to chase her again. Aang and Katara stood in their spots, rooted. Even the baby had calmed down.

"That's one daughter you have there, Avatar." Katara turned to her husband.

"She's quite the bender, Master Katara," Aang said in reply.

Katara's smile had turned into something a bit more serious, and she took Aang's hands into hers. "I know she has fun with Bumi, but she needs to start her training, Aang. I can't start now with the baby and everything, but you are a perfectly capable waterbender."

Aang looked at his wife and smiled, "They know some basics to airbending form. I don't see why I couldn't teach them both waterbending basics."

"I know, Aang, but Kya picks up so quick, I'm afraid Bumi will feel left out,"

"Don't worry, everything will be fine."

The next morning, Katara awoke to the familiar sensation that plagued her twice before. The baby was coming two weeks early.

She shoved Aang hard, "Get up, the baby is going to be here soon."

"What?" he asked groggily.

"Get up!" she pushed him.

The words finally registered in his head. "Come on, Katara! I'll get Appa ready and we can fly into the city. I'll send a hawk to Toph and Sokka, and-"

"I don't think you'll have the time," Katara smiled from where she was sitting. "The baby is coming fast. Call a few acolytes in to help me out."

Aang obeyed his wife and gathered some of his female acolytes to help Katara through the process. The delivery lasted a little over an hour before a pink baby boy joined their family. He wasn't crying but looked annoyed. It seemed he would rather still be inside his comfortable womb.

Aang woke his older children and brought them in to see their new brother. Kya was enthralled by him, but Bumi took one look and made his prophecy. "He's an airbender."

Katara eyed Aang, who had the biggest grin on his face. Another airbender. After more than a hundred years, he was not the last one.

"What do you think, Kya?" Aang asked. "Is your brother an airbender?"

The girl smiled, "Yeah."

"What's his name?" Bumi asked.

"Tenzin," Katara smiled at the baby. When the couple was younger, they went back and forth over names for a son. Tenzin was supposed to be Bumi's name, but then Aang got word of his old friend's passing, and Bumi became Bumi.

Kya was still mesmerized by her little brother. She put her little hand out to touch his cheek and to grab his even smaller hand. Tenzin was not amused.

"What do you think?" Katara asked her daughter.

Kya looked up at her, "He's really pink and cute."

Katara smiled and patted her daughter's cheek, "You're going to be a great big sister."

A/N: The next chapters will be longer and more focused on Kya, I just wanted to get Tenzin in here so we have the whole squad. See ya next time.
