Little Women tales – 2-6

Hi, I'm back. I have a bit more time and here I'll present you all my ideas for Swan Lake retellings. The first one is already published. Here are 5 more versions, written by the March sisters, Laurie (and Flo). Can you guess who did write them for the Pickwick Papers?

Which one do you like best – and should I write?

Please comment and let me know!

The rose, the dragon and the swan (A.S. this member has the excuse of having to finish a story for a contest and had no time for watching the ballet carefully)

Many, many years ago, in a lovely kingdom called Parthenope, there lived a beautiful princess called Rosalie, who had a clever and very courageous sister. This sister princess, Johanna, didn`t like to be a princess and despised the idea of marriage. Especially if one of the suitors was the old, scary, widowed Count Hugo. When Johanna and her sister Rosalie were racing in the long marble hall, they found a little chest. As they opened it carefully, they found a cloth of silk and embroidered a lovely rose. "Aw, what a delicate pleasure!" sighed Rosalie, but Johanna scanned the text and exclaimed: "This is a map to a rose that will indicate true love. Let`s send our suitors out to a mission to fetch it." "So, we will find true love at last?" Rosalie asked delighted. "Nope, but I will fetch it by myself earlier and we'll never have to marry…."

Secret Love at the Swan Lake (S.P. This member did actually even read the libretto Flo did sent the members)

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, a humble and kind peasant girl called Marthe lived in a village. This village was nearby to the queen`s castle. The queen had only one heir, handsome and young prince Siegfried. Siegfried would always try to escape from rules and duties to join the peasants. And each year, at the harvest festival, he used to dance with Marthe. Marthe would blush, as she was in love with the prince, whenever he would visit the festival with his best friend Benno. But this time, everything would be different…

Little, valiant Black Swan (T.T.: A member with a surprising good story and should be more encouraged)

Once upon a time, an old hag lived in a hut in the forbidden forest, with her own beautiful daughter Odette and her adopted daughter Odile. Odile had to work and clean and tidy, whereas Odette was frolicking at the lake with her swan friends. Odile's dresses were ragged and became dark because of ash and dust. So the swan maidens dubbed her "the black swan"….

Star Lake (S.W: A really awesome version by our latest member)

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, there lived a young and bashful prince Zig-Frid. He was the son of the mightiest high sorceress of the planet Lavaris. It was a mighty, yet very cold and strict planet, and Zig-Frid had only his tutor Wolf Gang as a friend…

Flo's version: Swan Fake – two swans get switched…

"I don't want to go to the dumb boarding school", murmured Odette, still looking in the car at her clean, white skirt, tugging it nervously. "Darling, you'll like it!" Her Dad, Fred Rotbart, encouraged her. "Just give it a try", her evil stepmother, - er – Daddy's new wife Bathilda - said with a big smile. "But why then Mum's school?" Odette chose the topic that would hurt them the most. Dad frowned, by the memory of his dead wife, and also Bathilda's smile had changed to a sour grimace. Odette turned to her twin sister Odile, who was wearing all black, like a zombie, and staring at her mobile, and wouldn't care about that. Odile was far closer to Dad and so Odette was never sure how her sister would feel about it….
