I was going to my house from doing work, but then I see a small-like and shadowy figure at the corner of my eye.
'What is that?' I said in my head as I was walking down the sidewalk.
All of a sudden, I had the instincts to run back instead of running faster, towards my home.
"Hey, you need something?" I told the small lad, even if I didn't know him. He jumped up a little bit of where he was sitting down.
"Well, my parents are absolute jerks. Kicked me out just because the Socs beat me up..." He said, pointing where his black eye was.
"Damn, that's harsh." I said, hoping not to scare him anymore than I already did before.
"I know. Do you know why they had kicked me out honestly? I lied about it being the Socs." He said, standing up in a formal manner.
"Why is it? Is it because-" I got cut off by him, answering his own question.
"My parents. That's why I got kicked out. They want me dead. Speaking of which, what's your name? I'm Johnny Cade." My new 'neighbor' said.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to ask that. My name's Dallas, but I like do be called Dally. I hate when people use my full name instead of the nickname." I said, forcing a smile for my expression.
"Okay, Dally. Would you like calling me a nickname as well? It's just so we know each other more, and we could recognize each other often in times like these." Johnny said, finally smiling.
"Yeah, I do. What about Johnnycake? I mean, if that's fine with you." I said, getting nervous if he'll decline the nickname.
"Mhm, that sounds perfect. Now I have to think what I can do since I have no friends, nor people who care about me too often." Johnny said, feeling distraught again.
"Y'know what? I could be your friend, and if the Socs or your parents come near you, call or scream out my name so I could be there. If you want to, we could exchange numbers for contacts, just incase you and I need help once in a while." I said, winking at him.
"Yeah we can, here's mine." Johnny said, laughing as we both hit each others hands from giving the numbers at the same time.
"Well, would you like to come at my house? I really don't mind, since I know you're in a 'tricky situation' as they call it." I said, with a 'big eyed' expression.
"Yeah, sure. First, let me get my clothes." Johnny said, picking up the clothes he had in his bag, which was not a lot, really.
"This will last a day if max. Let me have you use my clothes tomorrow to sleep in if you feel comfortable with doing that." I said, blankly staring at him.
"Alright, Dally." Johnny said, running to where I was at, my house's yard."
"I usually go through the back door, just in case my parents are sleeping." I said, whispering as we went through the back door.
Then, we ran up the stairs to my room. It's plain, with a bed, a desk, and a few posters of some of the few movies I've watched.
"I'll sleep on the floor. Johnnycake, let me know if you need anything in the middle of the night. Okay?" I said quietly, just so my parents wouldn't yell at me like they did yesterday from bothering them.
"Yeah, yeah. Good night, Dally." Johnny said, getting into the covers.
"Night." I said, getting a blanket and pillow onto the floor, ready to sleep.
Then, we both slept. Johnny needed a little bit of water though, so I got it at the needed times.
-The End-
