Inuvember is here! Will it be great? Will it be terrible? Nobody knows, but I'll certainly be slaving over my keyboard all month! So, come join me on an adventure exploring Rumiko Takahashi's amazing characters. Prepare for both thoughtful analyses and cliches galore! Rated T as a blanket rating.

19. Day 23, LGBTQ, Jaken's Unrequited Love

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha (Rumiko Takahashi-san and Viz do), but that's okay.

A/N: I thought to myself earlier this month, "hey, maybe I can get these done by Christmas." I didn't realize past me was so funny. It will be a miracle if I finish Inuvember by the new year. I have not been feeling very inspired lately, but I can't let myself work on other projects until this is finished (don't worry - I'm working on getting that inspiration back!). This is very short, but I hope all you lovely people enjoy it. I do not think that Sesshōmaru will ever love Jaken back, but it was an interesting idea and I wanted to keep it more plausibly canon than say, doing a Kagome/Sango or an Inuyasha/Miroku story.

DAY 23

LGBTQ+: Jaken's Unrequited Love

Jaken's lord was magnificent. Lord Sesshōmaru won his heart the day he slayed the yōkai ravaging Jaken's village. He was so glorious, so graceful, so handsome. When Jaken begged to join him on his journeys, the lord only nodded. Jaken would follow his lord to the ends of the earth and walk off the edge if it would please the daiyōkai.

"Lord Sesshōmaru, wait for me!" he squeaked.

Jaken ran to catch up to his Lord Sesshōmaru. His legs were so much shorter than the magnificent lord's, so a moment's distraction cost him dearly. One moment he had been fussing at Rin and the next Rin had dashed off, leaving the little kappa to lecture the air. Unfortunately, Jaken had spent several moments lecturing the air before realizing that Rin was no longer there. She walked beside his lord, who took no notice of Jaken.

Jaken pushed aside the aching of his heart as he hurried after them. Maybe Lord Sesshōmaru didn't care for him now - he was often either completely indifferent to Jaken's existence or displeased with him - but Jaken had faith that the great lord would care for him one day and perhaps bestow a small token of affection upon him. It was this flicker of hope that kept the eternal flame of Jaken's love burning as he faithfully followed Lord Sesshōmaru across the Western Lands.
