Elizabeth POV

CH. 4

Even though I'm in pain, I smile, which is something I haven't done in a while. I am so happy, we can finally be a family like we are supposed to be.

" Name, Initiate!" he growls. What happened? Why is he so mad. Is he not happy so see me?

"Eliza" I reply.

" Call it out Four," the same woman says. Four? Is that his name here? It's probably to hide his real name.

"Second Jumper, Eliza" Tobias yells. I am going to walk over to where Beatrice is standing, when Tobias grabs my upper arm, and drags me to a dim lit hallway. I try not to wince, and he lets go when he sees the pain in my eyes.

"What are you doing" I ask Tobias.

"I could ask you the same thing, " he replies with venom in his voice. What happened to my brother?

"I transferred, like you said Tobias, I went somewhere I would be happy." I say with a hint of confusion.

"I told you to go somewhere where you would be safe, not to follow me!" he exclaims.

"I am safe, and happy here Tobias, what happened to you" I explain.

"It's Four now." He says angrily.

"Ok Four, what happened, are you even happy to see me?" I questioned, hoping he would say yes.

"No, I'm not happy to see you. You didn't listen to me after I explained everything to you. I am now going to be your Initiation Instructor, and not your are weak and wounded Eliza. You should have never come here!" He concluded.

I find myself shocked. I was tortured and beaten for 2 year continuously without him and he doesn't say anything. He didn't ask me how I was feeling, nor did he miss me. I can't believe that the only person that ever loved me, has now completely changed, and hasn't even missed me, he has now lost the title of my brother. He is now only Four. I let a tear slip out of my eyes. I don't have anyone anymore. I am all alone. But now, I will prove to Four, that I am capable, and don't need him.

"For your information, you are not my brother Four, not anymore. I will prove to you that I am not weak, and I will make it through initiation. You aren't Tobias and you will never be him!" I yelled through tears. All of this, and he doesn't change. His eyes are now cold, and he is acting like we weren't each other's only support for 14 years. This was officially the worst day ever.

I take a moment to console myself, I can't go back crying. Before, I knew that I had to go through initiation, but now. Four has added fuel to my fire. I will make it through initiation. I will prove it to him, that I do not need him. I will go on to prove to everyone that he cannot affect me.

I walk back to where everyone is, trying not to burst into erupting flames. I am feeling so many emotions, Sadness, Betrayal, Sorrow, Angry, and lots and lots of PAIN. I don't know how I'm gonna survive here. I will prove to my brother that I can do it.

Suddenly, someone taps on my shoulder, I wince. I turn to see that it is Uriah. He saw me wince, and is now looking very concerned.

"Are you ok, Eliza" Uriah questions.

"Yeah, I'm fine, why do you ask," I lie.

"You seem very jumpy, like you're hurt. You also look really mad, and seem like you were crying. Should I tell someone?" He stated simply

" No No, please don't tell anyone, I'll tell you everything later" I plead.

"Ok I won't, but meet me by the chasm at 10:30" he tells me.

"Ok" I say. I will have to tell him the truth.

With that, we are being leaded into a hallway by our instructors.

"This where we split, Dauntless born with me, transfers with Four"

Uriah gives me a small wave and a smile of sympathy, when he leaves with the lady. Great, I just lost the only friend that I made.

"Dauntless born went with Lauren, and you guys are with me." Four says.

I'm still really mad at him.

"Let me introduce myself, My name is Four, I usually work in the control room, but I will be training you guys as your instructor for a few weeks. If you follow me, I will give you a tour." He says, and turns around.

I look around as he gives us the tour. My favorite place is the chasm. Though it is very dangerous, something about it intrigues me. I also have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time here.

Four shows us where the dorms are. The only problem with that is we change in public, so I'll have to be careful so people can't see my scars. Four's voice snaps me out of my thought process.

"You have 1 hour, you can do anything you want. I suggest you try exploring, so you know the way through dauntless. After 1 hour, you can go to the dining hall and eat. You can leave now"

He says in a hard, cold, and direct instructor voice. He looks at all of us, and lingers around me. I glare back at him, but he looks away and walks away.

My back is killing me, and my arm is throbbing so much to the point where I can't even move it. Tris and Christina asked me to come with them and like to go shopping and explore, but I told them I had something to do, and I would meet them in the dining hall. They looked a bit suspicious, but did not inquire. After everyone left, I quickly checked nearby for any sign of people. I quickly took the clothes that they provided us with. I took off my clothes carefully, and got in the shower. The water hurt my back a lot. I was in agony. Waves of pain ran down my spine. Every muscle in my body was strained and throbbing. It was like being shocked over and over again. I muffled a scream in my fist. I began to sob. All the events of today came crashing down on me. Leaving Marcus, choosing dauntless, my brother betraying me. I couldn't control my emotions, I hadn't broken down like this ever. I don't remember how long I was in there, but I suddenly became conscious.

I heard footsteps nearby, and tried to get in control, but at this point I couldn't care less. I hopped out of the shower, sore and on the verge of consciousness. I knew the person was still there, but I still dressed and walked out gingerly.

"Eliza?" said the voice I recognized to be Uriah. Thank god it was Uriah, I was going to tell him anyways. One less person to know my secret.

"Yeah, it's me" I said softly.

"Eliza, are you okay? Why were you crying, your screams sounded like you were in pain." his voice came out softly, but was lace with concern. Concern? Why was he concerned about me, he just met me? The last time I heard concern was 2 years ago, when Tobias was with me. No one has ever cared about me before. Sometimes I wonder if I deserved all of this. If they took away the only person that cared about me, I must have deserved it.

"Yeah I'm fine, I will explain everything tonight" I said, not quite meeting his eyes.

"Hey," Uriah whispered softly, "You're fine, I'm not gonna let anything happened to you"

His words were like soothing lullabies, softly putting me to sleep.

"Thanks for caring, I could really use someone like you right now" I admitted. It was true. I really needed a good friend.

Then he did something that I had not experienced in the last 2 years, even then it was rare. He hugged me!

He gently pulled me into his warm embrace. I tensed up at first, but then slowly relaxed into the hug. Tears slowly started pooling in my eyes, recalling my brother's embrace. Uriah noticed that and said, "Hey, don't cry, you will be fine, it's all gonna be alright."

He kept whispering comforting things in my ear, as he slowly stroked my hair. We stayed like that for a while.

"Thanks, I really needed that,... nobody has hugged me in a really long time" I whispered the last part. He has a confused look on his face.

"Its no problem, that's what friends are for. I'm not gonna ask you why you haven't been hugged, I think you will explain it to me later." He says softly, but firmly.

"I hate to ruin our moment, but we have to get to the cafeteria now, or people will be suspicious." he says while frowning.

I nod, and begin to move with him to the cafeteria. I look at him while going there, I see something in his eyes. His eyes are warm and comforting. His eyes show kindness and concern. But then he looks at me with a look that I can't decipher. I look away before I embarrass myself. I wonder what that look meant.

Author's Note: I loved writing this chapter. There might be some Uriah/Eliza in the future, but for now he is just one of her friends. This was an interesting chapter to write, especially when Uriah comforts her. She is still foreign to touches but she feel comfortable near him.
