When he came too he opened his eyes and only saw darkness. After several seconds he then realized he was looking toward the night sky when he saw a few stars in the distance, with this new knowledge the man tried to stand up and immediately wished that he hadn't as pain immediately shot through his entire body. Sharp, biting pain that made him feel like he was being impaled by a thousand knives.
"Ahh" he said as the pain began to dissipate. After about a minute he began to take in his surroundings, if his days of soldiering had taught him anything it was that you could always benefit from knowing where you where and what you were up against. He looked around and saw trees, vines, rocks, the occasional weird looking plant, logs, and a small crater/clearing that he was in. It was probably about 2 feet deep and about 10x10 feet across, with small patches of grass on fire near him.
"Hmm, figures I'd survive whatever this is. I've already survived seven years of warfare anyway" he said. But he had buried those painful memories deep down into the deepest pits of his mind, most were too painful to think about these days anyway. The man then stood up, waited for more pain to dissipate, then fully stood up, and saw that he appeared to be in the middle of a forest. A weird, eerie, almost magical looking forest.
"Where the hell even am I"? As he looked around he began to remember what had transpired tonight. They we're just enjoying the party, celebrating the signing of the treaty of Buffalo. The end of seven years of war. Then he remembered, a man, a very mysterious man who he hadn't given much thought about. In the man's defense he figured that the secret service had let him in... which had been confirmed after he asked about him. However he hadn't expected the man to have the capability to burn down the entire ballroom that they we're in. As well as knock him out and leave him in the middle of nowhere.
He needed to find that man, beat the literal shit out of him, then question him about what had just transpired, and then kill him. But first he had more important problems to deal with. Those problems were having no food, no water, no shelter, and worst of all he had no idea were he was. His clothes had also suffered, he looked down and saw that his uniform had been torn and cut quite a lot, though that was mostly due to his fight with that man who was most likely responsible for putting him here. Then he suddenly got a feeling in his gut that told him to turn around. He had learned to trust his gut over the last few years so he spun around and was shocked at what he saw, there right in front of him was his old American style combat outfit. He hadn't worn it ever since Iran and Korea so why was it here. Actually how did it get here, for all the man knew he could be in South America, Siberia, or even a remote area of Europe. So why would that guy go through the trouble required to fight him, knock him out, find and collect his old military outfit, then leave him with it in the middle of nowhere. Did he not know how dangerous the world was nowadays with all of the mercenary groups running around now. The fact that they were not found by one of them was surprising, especially if he was in Siberia or South America. He then noticed that he had also given him some supplies, two combat knives, a Desert Eagle pistol, a M240 machine gun, a M2010 enhanced sniper rifle(with an alternating night and thermal vision scope), a flashlight, a first aid kit, a water bottle, a few MRE food pack, a military grade backpack, and a book? What good would a book do him in this situation, then the man decided that they're must have been a specific reason for the book, maybe some greater purpose perhaps.
"Owoooooo" Almost as fast as the man heard it he instinctively got into a defensive stance. He had leaned this when dealing with Russian Kamchatka brown bears or better known as Kodiak bears so a wolf shouldn't be a problem unless it was with a pack, and knowing his luck it probably was. He then grabbed the machine gun and found it fully loaded. Surprised he then climbed on top of the nearest rock so he could get a height advantage on the wolf. After a while of no more howling and not hearing the wolf or wolves in general he decided to quickly pack up what had been given to him. he picked up the book but was surprised to see that it was in a language that he didn't understand.
"What the hell" he said. The man could speak English, German, Italian, French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, and even some Arabic but this was a language he had never even seen before. It looked like a mix of Russian and Chinese. With a shrug the man decided to begin packing everything into the backpack while keeping the machine gun in his hands incase he ran into that wolf. Once this was complete he put on the backpack and turned the flashlight on. However he got another feeling in his gut telling him to walk northeast, he didn't know why but it was better than staying here so he began walking.
