A Minor Acquaintance of the Boy who Lived

Peter Hanson is a young muggleborn boy who finds himself accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But unlike most self-insert OCs, Peter doesn't become best friends with Harry Potter and become a major element of the story, not at all! Peter hardly interacts with Harry Potter yet still feels the consequences of his disruptive adventures.

5. Guess what, I'm not dead

So, what's up?

Hey, it's me again, I'm sure by now if you've been following the story you may have assumed that I'm dead or something. Believe me, the next chapter is coming, there are just a few factors that are complicating it somewhat.

Number one: School has started. I'm not sure if my writing style gave it away, but I am young and still going to school, which has definitely made it harder to stay on top of a schedule, especially with the more crammed in learning structure brought about by COVID. It also doesn't help that I have a very hard time staying on top of my schoolwork in the best of situations. So while I do love this story and want to keep writing, please understand that I also want to be able to get a job in the future.

Number two: This upcoming chapter has been hard to write. Looking back, I realize that my previous chapters may have been boring and/or lacking in action. I've been trying to think up ways to make this more exciting, but honestly, it's hard to do so without breaking canon when your character is supposed to not be as exciting as Harry Potter himself. The troll chapter in particular has made this relevant to me. How can I make an entire chapter centred around a troll attack feel exciting when it's from the perspective of someone who by all accounts, stayed in their dorm for the entire night. The chapter is either going to require some major rewriting or it will need to focus around something different, and I don't expect this to be the first time I encounter this issue.

Number three: My interest is starting to shift. It's not that I'm not interested in this story anymore, but I'm starting to develop new ideas and find new exciting stories that are fun to work with. I've had an idea formulating in my head for a while now about a D&D themed story, and I've recently thought of an interesting concept for a Star Wars fic. If those aren't what you're interested in and aren't what you followed me for, that's okay, just know that I am passionate about these and I will split my work amongst these other new projects of mine.

I hope this reassures you that I'm still into this story as well as maybe stirring up some excitement for future projects of mine. When the next chapter comes out (whenever that is), I hope you like it, and I hope you know how much your support means to me. See you next chapter, or next story, whichever comes out first. :)
