Hi! I lied, I am posting this week. I turn to writing to de-stress, so here ya go! Also, thank you for the feedback with Spinel's name lol.
(Twins prospective)
Dipper stepped out of the room and looked at his arm. His face was red with embarrassment and he shuffled down the hall, his hands in his pockets. He kept walking until he found himself in the gift shop, the light from the vending machine lit up his face.
He pressed the now familiar code to get down to Grunkle Ford's lab. After searching for a little bit Dipper found Ford, bent over some of his writings.
"Hey Ford." Dipper walked over to see what Ford was doing.
"Ah, hello Dipper." Ford looked up for a moment, "Is there something I can do for you?"
"Actually, yeah." Dipper pulled a stool up to sit next to his Grunkle, "What did you find out about that Steven kid?"
"Well," Ford stopped reading and looked up at Dipper "He wasn't really talkative, however it sounds like he came from a negligent household if he's never been to school or properly educated. What did you find out?"
"Mabel mentioned the job offer, and when we said there might be paperwork he was pretty confused."
"Oh," Ford huffed, and took a sip of tea "that's fine. I think Stanley would rather just pay him in cash anyway."
"But he said he had jobs before, including being a doctor." Ford coughed and tried not to spit up his drink.
"Do you think he has brain damage?" Ford began looking at some of his medical research papers.
"I'm not sure… Can I use your computer?" Dipper's mind raced.
"Yes sure it's over there." Ford pointed to the opposite side of the room.
"Thanks." Dipper hopped down from the stool and sat in front of the computer. He opened the search engine and entered "Beach City". Thousands of results showed up, the first result was a blog called "Keep Beach City Weird", Dipper clicked on it. His eyes widened as he read. Aliens? Gems? What are Gems? Dipper scrolled farther and nearly fell off his chair. The picture on the screen showed a scene of cracked ground and pink liquid spewing from the earth. Dipper kept scrolling and scrolling, he didn't really stop until he was a couple years back. There was a picture of a boy who looked like Steven, but younger.
"Hey Ford, have you heard of Beach City?" Dipper called back.
"It sounds familiar, but nothing comes to mind." Ford stood up and walked over.
"What about Gems?" Dipper scrolled through the blog, Ford looking over his shoulder.
"Yes, I've met one once before. Although, I didn't document anything about her. Perhaps you should try to conduct your own research." Ford ruffled Dipper's hair.
Maybe, but I don't want to ask Steven about it… I'll do it anyway. It's something new to study! Dipper got up and went all the way back upstairs. He got in his pajamas and lay down in bed. He wasn't tired at all. He jumped when the door creaked and he sat up. Mabel walked in and closed the door behind her.
"I let him have Waddles for the night." She said lifting her chin proudly.
"Mabel, I was looking up Beach City on Ford's computer, and that stuff that happened in his dream, actually happened." Dipper grabbed his journal and a pen and thought about what to write.
"Ok, but isn't it kind of weird that he can project his dreams onto the TV?" Mabel's foot tapped against the ground repetitively.
"I don't want to directly ask him about it, then he might get uncomfortable and leave! But I have so many questions!" Dipper groaned and fell back onto his bed. After a couple hours of thinking he eventually fell asleep.
Mabel woke up, nearly exploding from excitement. Today she would get to show Steven how things work around the shack. She looked through her sweater collection and chose a new one she had made. It was a pinkish-red color with a moon and stars on it. She had even put stars on the sleeves. She slipped it on over a tanktop and wore jean shorts. She put on socks and her pink Converse sneakers. Mabel selected a shimmery silver headband to where. She posed in front of the mirror before strutting out the door.
Dipper was still asleep because he had stayed up thinking all night. Mabbel made her way to the kitchen and poured herself a bowl of cereal. She could hear Stan in the museum, getting everything ready for the day. Mabel looked up from her sugary cereal when she heard footsteps. Steven stood in the doorway, looking awkward and uncomfortable.
"Hi Steven!" Mabel smiled brightly, which lit up his face a little. His black eye was mostly gone, so that was good. "Do you want cereal? Or you can fry up an egg. Make yourself at home!"
"Where are the bowls?" Steven steps towards the cupboards. Mabel showed Steven where everything was, and sat down to finish her cereal.
"We can see if Wendy's phone will work today, then you can try to call your family." Mabel placed her chin on her palm.
"Ok, thank you." Steven smiled. After they were both done Mabel led Steven to the gift shop. Wendy was already behind the counter, staring at her phone.
"Wendyyy!" Mabel yelled in a sing-song tone "Can Steven use your phone?"
"Yeah sure." Wendy shrugged and held the phone out to Steven. Steven took it and said "Thank you." And started dialing.
"Wendy, you've gotta help me show him what to do around here." Mabel hopped up onto the counter, "Cause you actually work here."
"Alright, it'll be cool to get some more help around here. This place ALWAYS needs some fixing up." Wendy smiled. Steven walked back over to the counter and gave Wendy her phone back.
"There was just static again." Steven shrugged, "I like your shirt!" He pointed to the Saddie Killer and the Suspects shirt that Wendy was wearing.
"Oh! You listen to them?"
"Yeah, they're from my hometown!"
"Dude, that's awesome!" Wendy gave Steven a high-five. Mabel smiled, this was going to work.
Thank you for reading. Just a heads up that the next chapter will be uploaded this weekend. I already finished it, but I want to space out my chapters. :)
