It is a journalist's job to report on the stories as they unfold or as they have already happened. To give the reader the facts of what we know or what we can see them being. Nothing could have prepared me for what happened on the 21st of August 2019. It seemed like hell, but it was all real. This event would make or break my career. I knew it for a fact, but what would it cost the world?

I was walking to work at about 9:00 am. Oh where are my manors. My name is Eric Whitefield, I'm a journalist from Raleigh. If I can recall correctly, it was a normal day in the high 70's so not too hot of a day. Everything was fine, it didn't seem like all hell was to break loose in only an hour and thirty minutes. I had gone to work, as stated before I'm a journalist so I went to the station. Not too much longer I went out at about 10:17, roughly. I was walking around town not too much. I would always go over the train lines to see if I could catch any passing by not that day.

I checked my pocket watch. It read 10:33.

"I had best get back to work." I had said to myself not knowing the biggest story was about to hit the world in only a few minutes.

About two minutes after I checked my watch, I was about to pass a man when he clutched his chest.

I asked him "Are you alright?!"

What occurred next was so horrifying I refuse to even put it into words.

Seeing a man be turned into what I can only describe as a beast has to be one of the worst things to watch. I can't even remember what I did next. All I could do was run and after seeing more people, men, women, children, being turned into these "things". Fear was running rampant. After it all I fell on my knees and prayed that I may be spared from it all.

I was spared from that catastrophe, but I can't say the same for many other people. I raced back to the station passing many more of those things as I went. When I arrived it was in absolute chaos. There were papers all over the place people were screaming and many were on the phones trying to call their family I would guess. I saw Phil in the corner sucking his thumb.

"Well, his mind is gone." I said under my breath.

I saw somebody and one of those things pointing at each other and screaming their lungs out. I went into my boss's office to find him in a flurry of papers and phone calls.

"WHITEFIELD! Where on Earth were you!? Don't answer that. Answer this. What did you see and how much do you know?"

"I um.. I was um….."

"Come on Whitefield spit it out I don't have all day! It seems like everything is about to fall in on itself! I saw people turn into literal beast like things! Nobody knows what is going on! I need at least one person to give me something I can work with!"

"Well Mr. Janeson I was walking when it all happened sir and..."

He cut me off before I could finish my sentence. "Did you get any photos or film of it?"

"No sir."

"Dang it Whitefield can't anybody get some footage of what's been going on. We need to report on this as soon as it is possible. This is very important and if sources are to be correct the entire world has been affected by this. I want you to get me something on all of this. I don't care what it is as long as it can sell."

"Of course, sir. Do you have anything in particular you want me to find out about?"

"Go see what the governor has to say of it all, and even if he is alright. I'm sure he will have something to say about all of this even if it's meaningless."

I left Mr. Janeson in his office with others rushing in with phones, pictures, cameras, and all other sorts of things to show him. I didn't care about what they had. I had to go ask Governor Cooper what he would do about all of this. That was if he was still a human and had not turned into one of these monsters. Now that would be something interesting to tell of and terrible at the same time. Well, if Forest is fine if not well then that will be a story.
