Hello Dr. Miss. ███████████, i hope you, Miss. ███████████, have already to become familiar with your surrounding, also know as your office at Site-19. I want you to know, Miss. ███████████, that there is no if you have pressure or anxiety on your first day. Believe me, i saw some staff who has immense concern on they shoulder about what to do and if they are ready for the position, they are in. And if they are any questions regarding the Foundation or your current position, you can happily ask me Miss. ███████████.
So, Miss. ███████████ if you read the title of the note, which you should have, then it is about the ethical in the SCP Foundation.
Why, i sent you, Miss. ███████████, this note is because
1) It' s your first day on Site-19 Miss. ███████████.
2) When you, Miss. ███████████, working with the Foundation, you meet some questionable method or ethically concerning regarding the use of D-Class and the treatment of some humanoid anomalies.
3)The deep inside and understanding of the ethics in the SCP Foundation in general.
The ethical in the SCP Foundation is interesting in my opinion for many reason like how it handled it with humanoid anomalies or how we are against unnecessary cruelty, however someone HAS to decide if cruelty IS necessary for humanity. Surely, you can understand the concept of ethical and unethical.
But the SCP Foundation? Well, they sometimes a "bit unethical" in some cases, but it doesn't change the fact that humanity lives because the Foundation is fighting in the dark. Well, they are, of course, other organizations with the same goal, but different mindset like the GOC/The Global Occult Coalition, UIU/Unusual Incidents Unit, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and even sometimes the Church of the Broken God. Yes, they also help to contain or destroy anomalies or preventing/preparing an anomalies outbreak.
Yes, they also the reason why humanity continue to lives. However the SCP Foundation still have the most active reason for humanity, with sometimes the help of the GOC. The SCP Foundation has sometimes "questionable" method, but they always justify the actions, that is done. You can still paint some facts about the SCP Foundation being unnecessary "cruel" to some SCPs/anomalies, D-Class and people in general like commit nearly genocide on an anomalous humanoid species was inexcusable, unforgivable and more importantly unforgettable, i don' t deny it. You can still have a different mindset about how the SCP Foundation should running, i don' t forbid it.
Still, most humanoids anomalies are treated with ethical containment procedures and without the Ethics Committee help about what is and is not acceptable, things will let' s be MUCH worse. However everyone has still an opinion and you have also an opinion about the SCP Foundation and they cold side. We shouldn't not, however, see the World in general as black and white. Not everything and everyone has a black side and/or white side, but a gray side. Black is often paint as evil and white is often paint as good, but we should see the different about the RESULT of the ACTION of someone or something rather the intentions of this actions.
Of course, the SCP Foundation has done many many horrible things, but in the result humanity, earth and reality as the whole live. Yes, the SCP Foundation has done that, but also done good things in the past for humanity if you consider them good in question of your mindset. What I' m trying to say is, see the World as realistic in the eyes of different perspectives, look the World as gray, not white or black, just gray for once. Gray is the middle of black and white, of good and evil, of right and wrong, of combine the both sides of the dice. But realistic in the anomalies side is a little gone for that pointj but you know, what I' m mean.
You can calls us monster, ugly abominations, unethical people or "bad boys" but you can' t deny the effort of each containment procedures, that are put for the anomalies, you can' t deny the little or massive cover up for the securing the anomalies, you can' t deny that we, the Foundation, are humans, humans with flaws. We can make mistakes, but we learn from the mistakes. Mistakes are, that definition, about what the human race is. Not every human is born perfect and right. We, the SCP Foundation, are corrupt to be honest, but is not every organizations corrupt? In my opinion, there is always a small corruption in a system, organizations, society, group, individual etc…
But what is the definition of corruption. The definition of corruption is being dishonest, greedy, wickedness or committed a crime in a system. Well that' s certainly a bit in the SCP Foundation but wickedness means the quality of being evil or morally wrong. What we are doing is morally wrong is correct, but in the end of the action, the consequences justify the action. So, it' s was morally wrong, but it somehow justify the action in the end and the quality of being evil meaning, it has morally bad intention in the eye of the beholder, but if you think closely enough, we are containing entity's, objects and phenomena that could cause devastating consequences if left unchecked, so humanity live normal. Which It' s actually a moral neutral if not good intentions
You can' t put the Foundation in a single perspective, but everyone has an opinion. So, yeah, you can. But look both sides of the dice or the action like why is the action being done because the result is humanity lives as a whole or are maintaining they nomacly or counter an another threat. Of course, that doesn't excuse the countless death, we have in our hands, but these countless death justify in the end again.
The Ethics Committed in our Foundation ,that advise the O5 council on what is and is not acceptable, that make ethical choices depends on
Utilitarianism: The doctrine or the actions are right if they are useful or for the benefit of a majority,
Teleological: The relating to or involving the explanation of phenomena in terms of the purpose they serve rather than of the cause by which they arise and other factors as well.
Consequential: The consequences/result is more important than the action itself
The Foundation including the O5 council and the Ethics Committed look, what's the best possible choice it, that included the minimized casualties and collateral damage. If, for an example, they must torture a D-Class to prevent a world ending scenario, they will do it, but they torture the D-Class less painful or cause less immense suffering. However if the torture must be painful or must cause immense suffering, they will do it to prevent the world ending scenario.
Again, we do not torture people "just because" like throwing D-Class inside SCP-682 containment chamber to see what 682 do to those D-Class. We, the SCP Foundation, an against unnecessary cruelty. Which means somebody has to decide when cruelty IS necessary. And that somebody is, again, us the Foundation Miss. ███████████
Just for the record, i ask my researcher "friend" if he want happy endings? My friend say in response „I want happy ending or do you? You know in the Foundation, we watch, heard and witness many many things, some good and many bad. We watch the world died for a thousands times and sometimes, we had time to scream. We heard, a mother must burn her own child to prevent a catastrophic event, that included 10 000 of casualties. We see, a man being intentional inflict trauma to lock a Old Man in a box. We heard, that a naked, old, man kidnap children or a family being torture and dissembled and twisted in a Christmas Night. We witness, that a lizard cause a breach and hundred of death. We heard, that a baby is being roasted and D-class being castrated for a ritual that is for a deer. We heard, that a 2 meter creature caused a breach because someone look it face on a photograph. And many other things and still you want happy endings? You know what, fuck you. We all are lucky alive to be here and yet, you moan for happy endings."
We can' t wish for anything, we want and sometimes we are face the reality of the cold world.
And in the SCP Foundation is a lot of people, even in the O5 council and the Ethic Committed who wish inside things get better and has a different mindset, how the Foundation should be run, but some know, they must do the things because if not, some dangerous anomalies will be cause some chaos. And if they let, they guard down because of their sympathy, they will be a particular event because of that.
Of course, some humanoid anomalies, for example reality benders, wish not to be born like that and are treated badly because the GOC are immediately hunt them down and kill them or we, the SCP Foundation are immediately securing and containing them and put them in boxes.
But what else can we do? If you read the GOC "Excerpts from PHYSICS Division Field Manual 13: Special Circumstances, Humanoid Threat Entities Type Green: Reality Bender" Miss. ███████████, then you know why the GOC kill them or we, the SCP Foundation, contain them. Sure, it wasn't ethical in the GOC to commit genocide just because 99% of reality benders ended up problems at some point, but it ultimate made everyone' s lives easier.
We, the SCP Foundation, are not good nor evil. We, the SCP Foundation, are not black or white. We, the SCP Foundation, are not cruel but cold. We, the SCP Foundation, are ruthless. We, the SCP Foundation, are exacting on our Special Containment Procedures intend to do. We, the SCP Foundation are gray. You can hate us. You can disagree with us. You can criticism us. But it doesn't change the fact that we, the SCP Foundation, are securing, retrieving, researching and containing thousands upon thousands of anomalies from massive resources and means to protecting humanity and let them continue, they daily life with nomacly without mistrust, misdoubt and panic because we, the SCP Foundation, fighting in the dark so, you can live in the light.
Another topic in ethical is "Why we are not allow some harmless anomalies to integrate into the society instead holding them in containment chamber"
That' s a good and pointless question and the answer varies such like the Foundation has tried it with some anomalies to integrate into society in secretly or the SCP Foundation, the world at large and humanity are not fully ready to accept anomalies into their society, but more broadly and simple, it opposed their mission on maintaining a veil of secrecy from the world at large to prevent that the public to gain awareness of anomalies. Their will be, of course, people who likely accept anomalies into their society, but other people or groups will don' t. While we could if there is no other option to, release some harmless anomalies into the public, however how would humanity or different governments react to it. And more importantly if multiple groups, individuals and governments will be using and exploring anomalies properties to fulfill their twisted desire like weaponized, manipulation, cause harm to others etc…
That doesn't mean that anomalies will only cause devastating scenario when released into society, but also can help out the society, humanity and the earth with they anomalies ability, depending what anomalies they have. While holding in containment chamber seems cold, this is what we in the Foundation doing, however we aren't put them into boxes and leave them alone with nothing "comfortable".We give them what a normal humanoid being is needed like a bed, food and approving from personal request from the SCP itself or from the staff, depending what this request is.
However releasing anomalies into society sound easy, but, again, how is the respond from humanity and what actions comes from humanity after they releasement? If or when this happened, some people will act open to them, while others act aggressive to this new change, some people will accept this and some people don' t accept this, others thinking weaponized them and others will help them with their anomalies ability, others will learn more about them and others will avoid them in public, perhaps the world at large would be indeed be better off knowing about the anomalies or perhaps the world would plunge into chaos. It will always have a negative and positive effect on humanity, society and the anomalies at large in my opinion and, i think, that the SCP Foundation would agree with my opinion on that topic. But this topic has too many possible- and-possibility about what exactly will when this Lifted Veil /Broken Masquerade Scenario occurs
So, this would end the note of regarding the ethical in the SCP Foundation and, i hope you, Miss. ███████████, have some more inside knowledge and understanding of ethical in the SCP Foundation and why we are doing this. As you read, ethical subjects and morals are a bit more complex and flexible than you think Miss. ███████████.

This writing/Text is based on the SCP-WIKI, SCPverse and the SCP Foundation and their Ethical standard, which i love by the way. I written this so long ago, but now i have the courage to publish this. I always love the SCP Foundation and their unethical cold side or how sometimes, depending on the author, the end justify the means and their Ethics Committee, but i sometimes hear/read people criticism the SCP Foundation and their cold side and unethical treatment or contain of some anomalies/SCPs and D-Class, which I understand. However i written my own thoughts about this matter and i think it turned really good. Of course they are other SCPs that painted the SCP Foundation more on the concept of ethical like SCP-4051 Title: "Your Friendly Neighborhood Keter" but i hope this Text, let you think a bit on the SCP Foundation, but if not, i still somehow hope you like the text regardless on the significance and meaning behind this.
