A/N: Hello everyone! Morgan here again with another chapter of 'What you see'! I'm enjoying writing this story so much, I hope you all feel the same! Now onward with the plot! Once again, I do not own any of the Naruto characters, only the plot of the story and minor OCs.

It was dark. There was nothing in sight and everything just ached… badly.

'My body... W-what the heck just happened?', the pinkette thought as the gears within her mind began turning again.

The kunoichi couldn't see anything, it could be assumed that she was probably coming out of some sort of coma, but why was she in a coma in the first place?

'Oh right… those shinobi.', there was a slight pause in her thinking before something else came back to mind, 'Oh no! The village!'

As she was in place, the dark place, it was distant, but Sakura could swear that she could hear a discussion going on somewhere. There were voices, but they were kind of blurred for a moment.

At the moment, she couldn't decipher whether or not the owner of the voices were good or bad. The thought ENEMY! ran throughout her brain due to what she last remembered, however they were definitely there and she couldn't move… wherever it is that she was.

Something else caught her attention though as the voices that she heard started becoming a bit more easier to hear as seconds passed. Were these voices with her? Like right now?

… Oh boy.

"Ah, it looks like the girl is healing up better now.", spoke an elderly woman, judging by the sound of her voice that is.

'Oh good, it seems like the voices are getting clearer now. I can't help but get a strange vibe from that voice though.', Sakura thought cautiously.

"Thanks a bunch for the help granny… I can't help but feel like I'm kind of responsible for what happened."

This one was definitely different. It was a male's voice. The tone of speaking sounded kind of… sad?

'Now that voice, it kind of sounds familiar.'

"Oh hush boy. You tried your best and you know it. You did what you could in what state and situation that you were in."

"But I—"

"Ugh…", a groan emanated from the young kunoichi's lips suddenly when more feeling came back to her.

A short gasp could then be heard to the side of her. "She's awake!", the male voice exclaimed in joy.

"Pipe down! You don't want to scare her off. The girl just woke up from a coma."

"Oh! Right… ahehe, sorry about that."

Emerald eyes opened slowly by the second. With each blink they took in their surroundings and her mind tried to make sense of it.

From what she felt, Sakura could tell that she was laying down on some sort of cloth… and she was in a sort of building? It was small and wooden, not to mention a bit scorched, but it was still standing.

Was she in a village?

Taking a bit more time to look around, the pinkette decided to concentrate her sights to the ceiling out of pure laziness. Her earlier thoughts of caution and worry pretty much disappeared once the male voice managed to reach her ears while she was still knocked out.

Why was that?

Because for some strange reason, that certain boy's voice was distinguishable amongst all others! It was just filled with so much joy… it put her at ease, kind of like how it did during the fire.

Oh right— the fire!

Right then and there, the pinkette shot up like a rocket, causing both of the people present in the room to whip their heads in the girl's direction.

"The Shinobi. A fire. The Villagers—"

She let out those simple words in a barrage of random gasps. In the eyes of the two people who were with her, you'd think that she was having a panic attack on the spot.

"Don't worry young one," soothed the older woman who walked over to the pinkette's side and placed a hand onto her shoulder, "Everything's alright. Shisui over there managed to take care of the attackers."

"S-Shisui?", Sakura let out in a confused manner once the gasps managed to go down.

"Aand that would be me."

Her head turned in the direction of the male's voice when he replied. So that was the boy's name huh?

When she saw him he had his arms crossed across his chest as he stood right in the middle of the doorway. She had to admit that he looked a bit different compared to when she first saw him.

Maybe it was just the atmosphere of the moment that he looked kind of strange to her… or that's what the kunoichi thought before she noticed the piece of white cloth that was wrapped over the teen's eyes and around his head.

Now that wasn't there before.

Other than that he looked pretty much the same, but this way she managed to get a better look at her… would she even dare to call him her savior? The teen had unruly, dark, curly hair, a plain black t-shirt with the usual u-neck, and some dark blue pants under that… along with a strange stick that was clasped to his back by a rope that went across the right side of his body.

"So your name is Shisui huh?"

"Bingo! Shisui, 16 years old.", he exclaimed in amusement, snapping his fingers before directing a question right back at her. "And you are?

Sakura smiled at the two people who were stationed in front of her. "Oh right! I'm sorry. My name's Sakura Haruno, 12 years old. I'm a genin of the Hidden Leaf."

"A genin? Heh, you've got some guts coming into a village like this all on your own… that or you're just crazy.", the teen stated bluntly.

She couldn't help but let out a sheepish laugh. "At the moment, you could say that I was the latter, but I don't think that I'll do that ever again."

The teen quirked his head to the side in curiosity. "What? Why would you say that?"

"Because I almost died out there! Didn't you see what happened?"

He inched backwards slightly at the girl's shouting, but from what Sakura could see on his face, the features on Shisui's face stayed the same… although she couldn't see his eyes, the pinkette could tell that he was staring right at her as he spoke. "As a ninja, you need to anticipate that you might die at any time. That's just how a ninja's life is."

At that statement, Sakura opened her mouth to speak, but her words got cut off as the elder woman in the room stood up slowly, getting herself up onto her feet.

Before taking her leave from the current perimeters, the woman spoke. "I'll just leave you two here to chat for now. I still have more work to get to around the village.", she paused mid sentence as she added something a bit bitterly, but there was this small sense of… humor? "Well I was doing some work before you decided to drag me out of it, boy."

"Oh… s-sorry about that.", a sheepish laugh escaped Shisui's lips as he rubbed the back of his head.

"I'm so sorry that I took some time away from you Ma'm. Thank you so much for helping me though."

"You can just call me Kiko… or I suppose granny since he's been doing it from day one."

"Heh. I can see that." Emerald eyes locked onto the teen.

He let out a sheepish laugh which slightly surprised her… it was as if he knew that she was looking at him

"I'll see you two later. Don't drive our guest crazy now Shisui."

"I'll try!"

Sakura raised an unamused brow at that one. "Try?"

"Hey, I can't help myself when it comes to cracking a few jokes here and there you know?"

"Heh, now that reminds me of a certain idiot."

"Hey.", the male let out a small whine.

"Don't worry! I'm referring to a—an acquaintance."

"Acquaintance?", he rose a curious brow when a stutter was heard in her voice. She was definitely unsure of something. "Well if you say so."

His laid back attitude really did remind her of Naruto however. Well honestly, he kind of just reminded her of Naruto entirely!

All he needed to do was be a total idiot when it comes to strategy… along with anything else really, and he could be considered a black-haired replica of the loud-mouthed shinobi, but judging by her first encounter with the boy, Sakura didn't think that was going to be the case.

Speaking of the Leaf Village though…

"Hey, Shisui?"

"Hm?"

"Did reinforcements ever come to help you?"

There was a slight pause before the teen decided to answer her question. "Reinforcements? Yeah, they ended up coming."

Pink brows furrowed. If that was the case, and reinforcements did come… then why was she still here in the little village? Wouldn't the teams that came to the village pick her up, or at least stay in the village with her as she healed from her injuries?

"I don't mean to sound rude, but why am I still here? In the village?"

He let out a slight laugh. "Interesting story actually."

"I have the time to listen.", Sakura stated bluntly as she looked at the blind boy, unamused.

"Okay... well reinforcements did end up coming, but I was already notifying the villagers that the coast was clear and that there was nothing to fear, so the shinobi of the Leaf didn't even get to the village before returning to the Hokage's estate after they got a short briefing."

"Who gave the briefing?"

"I did."

"Did you tell them about the state that I was in?"

"..."

There's the problem right there. A vein popped from the pinkette's forehead slightly at the silence. By this point she already had an idea at what the teen was going to say, but she just wanted him to admit it out loud.

"Well?", Sakura asked with a hint of impatience as she folded her arms over her chest, tapping her finger against her arm.

"Look, I got side-tracked by one of the kids right after the briefing and when I was done talking to them, the ninja were already gone… talk about bad job etiquette."

The frown on the girl's lips deepened. "You'd better not be lying to me Shisui."

"I swear by whatever type of sight that I have left that I'm not lying."

Well that was strangely detailed. An amused laugh emitted from the girl right after Shisui's pledge of innocence.

He muttered something under his breath about 'a fickle girl', but Sakura just decided to act like she didn't hear that.

"So what happened to me while I was out then?" This question mainly stemmed from something that she heard before getting knocked out. What she heard sounded… painful and there's only one person in this little village that she knew could answer her question.

"Oh— you heard that?"

"... that was YOU who made that sound?"

But how? He was how many feet away when that happened! Not to mention that Shisui was currently fighting the other two invaders, and that sound was heard less than two seconds after her sight went dark.

"Kind of?... I sorta, kinda broke that guy's arm."

"WHAT?!"

It was surprising. He sounded kind of… remorseful?

"I couldn't really control where I landed okay? I could sense people's chakra but I can't tell where their limbs are, not unless I'm up and close with them, which I wasn't."

Honestly, there were so many questions that could be asked about that fight right now.

"So— just to clarify. You were able to defeat those three ninja somehow, single handedly?"

"If you put it that way… yeah."

There was a moment of silence.

"Teach me."

"What?"

Sakura stared at the black-haired teen with a determined gaze, as he took a small step backwards in surprise at the request that was just asked of him right now.

"You heard me. You are a ninja aren't you?"

That's where his breathing faltered for a second. Obviously his skills were definitely up there, but it was a retort that came from the teen. "No, I—"

"Let me rephrase that. You were a shinobi weren't you?"

"...", he let out a reluctant sigh. "Well ... kinda."

"So, please teach me."

The teen raised a hand up to the the back of his head with a sigh. "Can you be more specific? You could be asking me to teach you how to break a guy's arm for all I know, and I could bet money that you already know how to do that."

Sakura let out a small huff. "Fine, can you teach me how to be a better fighter?"

His brows furrowed slightly. "What makes you think that you're a bad fighter?"

Honestly, he just wanted to get a good feel for what the girl's strengths and weaknesses were. Unfortunately he didn't see her fight during the fire so he wouldn't be able to train her even if he wanted to, not to mention that he was still in the middle of training himself even.

"Well… I wasn't able to do anything during the fire."

A small smile made its way to the teen's lips. "If you ask me, that's more of a problem with your mentality rather than your actual fighting capabilities."

"I-I guess you have a point there."

"Honestly, I would be pretty happy if I trained you."

Sakura piped up happily.

"Really?!"

"But I might need some time to myself first."

That smile that was on the pinkette's face dropped immediately.

"What?! Why? It seems like you're a good enough fighter already."

"It seemed like I was, but as you could probably guess, I was fighting pretty much blind. Before you came here, you can bet that I was running into buildings left and right. I still need some training myself."

"But come on Shisui, can you really change that fact?"

"Heh, whining really doesn't suit you Sakura. Just let me finish before throwing a fit."

She puffed her cheeks out slightly in a pout. This guy just loves poking fun at her huh?

"As I try teaching myself, I will teach you the basics for now too, but just know that I won't do it consistently. You'll need to manage your own training as well. As most people say, 'nobody knows you better than you'."

"I guess that can work?"

"It will work.", Shisui corrected. " After we're done with the basics you can ask me anything that you want to know about, but that'll be after you've done some independent training. Does that sound like a deal?"

She nodded her head in agreement. "Deal… but why are you so insistent that I train by myself?"

"Because you need to be in your natural element. Knowing that someone's watching you 24/7 could be a hinderance to how you perform. When you're alone, and no one's watching you can be yourself and do whatever you want. Who knows? Maybe you'll even be able to find something within you that you never saw before."

"Hehe, I guess I never thought of that before. Up to this point I've always had someone supervising me."

"Having someone critique your work is always good, but I bet that those at the top of their class usually go off to practice by themselves. That's why they're always so good."

"Is that why you were able to fight off the enemy, even though you don't have any vision?"

A small hum escaped the teen's lips as he stood in thought.

"Well… I honestly don't know how I was able to fight off those shinobi so well. Once my sight was taken away, it's like a sixth sense just awoken within me."

"A sixth sense?"

"Something like that.", he responded with a nod. "Every living thing holds chakra, i'm not able to see their chakra, but I have a feeling for it, kind of like how you can feel the heat of a fire intensify on your skin, I can feel that when it comes to a living thing, including trees. That's why i'm able to navigate myself through the forest better than a town."

A sheepish laugh escaped the teen's lips at that last sentence.

"What about the hand-to-hand combat that you were able to do earlier?"

Mischievous snickers were heard which, in turn, caused the pinkette to turn her attention to his direction.

"I'll explain that to you once we begin training. I wouldn't want to give away all of my secrets now would I?"

"Humph!"

"Haha! We have lots of time to get to know eachother, so don't worry okay?", he placed a hand on his hip with a grin. "Do you think you're good enough to get out of bed now?"

Sakura rose a brow slightly in bitterness. "Are you guys that much in a rush to get rid of me?"

Shisui shook his head tauntingly. "You're so quick to assume. It's actually quite the opposite. Go outside and see for yourself."

Now that got her interest.

Slowly, the pinkette pulled down the sheets that covered her before sliding her feet into the blue sandals that were at her side.

A small smile crossed her features at the thought of a small surprise before beginning to stand up. How Shisui looked to her at the moment was kind of amusing… but it quickly turned into a sight of remorse.

It pulled her back down to earth at his current situation.

He was staring at the enterance of the small hut wearily. He probably wasn't sure if that was even the opening or not.

'Maybe… I should take it a bit more easier on him.'

"Hey Shisui.", the girl called out.

His facade quickly shifted into one with a smile. She kind of wondered, he did that for a reason didn't he? Smile even through the darkness.

"Hm?"

He didn't have much time to react when he felt Sakura's chakra signature approach him, and he felt a warm hand wrap around his wrist.

"Just follow me… you don't go inside of the houses much do you?"

"Heh, is it that obvious?", he replied sheepishly, following in Sakura's footsteps directly as the both of them stepped foot out of the hut with a smile.

A/N: In the very village that she aimed to protect, Sakura will be training in it and with a new friend and ally! For now Shisui won't reveal his Uchiha heritage out of knowledge of what trouble it could attract. I do intend on having her find out, but the situation it will happen in might vary! Haha! Also don't worry! Shisui definitely won't be the all powerful type. He'll have his quirks come out eventually! Reviews are encouraged, but I can't thank you all enough for taking interest in this story.
