All the errors are mine, but the characters are not.
Hi everyone! I hope you are well. This is something I just thought of so lets see what it turns out to me. Hurt!Steve, Worried!Tony.
Set somewhere in an alternative universe around Avengers.
"Stark, come upstairs and eat dinner." Steve was not having any of the other's excuses today. He didn't care if the last update was left or one ten minutes more before something did something, it didn't matter. Tony was coming up now or dinner was coming down to him.
"I'm almost done, spangles. Go on up.. I'll meet you there." The brunet flipped the piece he was working on. Its a part of his Stark 7's engine that he wanted to better. It would make the engine even more power efficient, kind of like an upgrade to his chest piece. The arc reactor can always be updated as long as Tony was around.
Without moving at all, his eyes narrowed at the mechanic. "No, Tony. You come up now."
Tony always made these excuses and its almost 7:00 PM now and he'll make these excuses till midnight and past but the team can never wait for more than thirty minutes for Stark before they dig in. Thor practically rages if he doesn't get something to eat and Natasha and Clint start setting things on fire. Steve himself can go a few days without food and be fine really until he passes out when his body decides that that's enough torture. He just gets a little grumpy sometimes. Stark literally lives on protein shakes, protein bars, finger foods from the events he attends and chips. Oh and can't forget at least eight cups of coffee. The man had it in his veins pretty much.
Start put his piece down, the hand with the soldering pen came up just to lower again. He didn't look at the super soldier as he spoke. "Later. I'm almost done." He said, grabbing another pointy tool to press down on the melted iron that dropped where Tony wanted it. He wondered it he should have used brass or copper instead maybe, but it didn't matter. He was going to run the integrity and chances of failure through Jarvis first anyways.
Rogers finally moved, Tony assumed he was fed up and would probably go back up so he turned his back to go grab his next piece that he must solder the board to. When he turned and grabbed his soldering pen and pressed it to the wire, it didn't melt the wire like usual. He tried again and then looked at it closely. Was he losing power? "Huh" he thought out loud, "Did I break it?"
"I'm afraid not, Sir." Jarvis answered
When Tony turned to see if his old soldering pen (that he loved so dearly even thought its ripped and past its time) was even in the wall he saw Steve standing there with his arms folded and the cord unplugged and hanging from his hand. "Dinner. Now."
"Jeez, alright. I was going to come up in five anyway." Tony got up and took the cord from Steve and pushed it back into the wall, going back to his stool.
Steve once again pulled the plug out and stood back up, "Now Tony. Everyone's already been waiting for you for almost thirty minutes." He frowned at Tony who seem to not give two shits about it. Literally, he wasn't even hungry. To Steve though it wasn't about the hunger, I mean it was, but it was about spending some times together as a family who live in the same house.. tower.
"Okay mom! Go! I'm coming." He turned the pen off and went back to Steve, took the cord and plugged it back into the wall. Steve didn't get the idea, of course, that the gun was off and Tony was actually going to come up with him. "Can you please come eat now? We haven't seen you in any of the dinners or lunches in the last two weeks and I'm having a hard time understanding what we did wrong."
Rogers leaned down one more time and grabbed the plug by its cord and tried to yank but he felt a surge of electricity run through him. Trying to let go was not working as the cord caught fire and started to melt so amazingly fast and stuck to his hand. He just kind of shook in place then yelped then dropped to his knees while still being electrocuted and couldn't yank his hand back, his strength was suddenly a thing of the past. His body refused to let him pull while he sat there with his arm held out on fire with melted rubber all over it and electricity running through his body. "nghhh...hn..hnn..!" His eyes were shocked and wide with fear as his mouth refused to make words but shook in place.
"Jarvis, cut that side! CUT THAT SIDE!" He knew Jarvis would know what he was saying and before he even said it Jarvis was already on it but those precious seconds burnt Steve's hand beyond recognition. "Oh my god.. oh god.." The smell of burning flesh hit him first. Tony literally almost vomited on the table.
The soldier finally relaxed, hunched over now that electricity wasn't actively running through his body and his arm dropped over his kneeling lap. His hand was still in a fist around the melted cord and still kind of on fire. The mechanic's robot friend was there in seconds and extinguished the fire and added white power to Steve's open wounds which were already filled with melted rubber and burnt off skin, blood. "Fuck.. fuck Steve what were you thinking?!" He came up behind Steve's hunched over form and took him in his smaller arms then he took the severely damaged hand and tried to see a way to pull the cord out of his fist.
"Shit.. its really in there." Steve nodded, he took a few more long breaths like he was running out of it before nodding again to Stark. "I can't.. I can't open my fist. Its stuck.." Tony saw him try again and he swears there was a whimper Steve tried to mask before he gave up and dropped his arm over Stark's hand. God it hurt so much. Electricity had never been his favorite thing next to suffocation and flight. He couldn't help the sudden lack of energy and dropped his head on the side of Tony's upper arm. God.. he was so tired.
"Hey, hey.. are you okay? I know you're not, but are you feeling anything different?" Stark's hands were moving a hundred miles per hour and about all over the super soldier. He checked the rest of his arm and looked into his tired eyes, "Jarvis, what's going on." he asked as he continued checked the other's pulse one more time. He wasn't a doctor nor did he like them, but he knew a thing or two that everyone else did to him when he got into yet another lab accident. He looked at their eyes, check their heart rate and breathing.
"Captain Rogers' heartrate is elevated and his breathing is too otherwise he is in perfect health aside from the severe burns. Sir, I suggest Captain Rogers seek medical attention immediately. Dr Banner may not be able to assist with this level of damage." Before Jarvis even finished talking, Tony had pulled Steve to his feet and was making his way to the elevator with him. "I got you, you'll be okay." He said the usual things others have said to him when he was injured. he didn't know what to do! He's not a doctor.
"Mr Barton has already been informed. A car will be waiting out front."
"Crap.. it burns." There was a grunt then Rogers pushed his head back as far as he could and bit his lip while they were in the elevator. It didn't even matter to him that it was a little embarrassing to be manhandled like that and held with an arm around his lower back like he was going to fall. Honestly, he kind of felt like falling.. or well, sitting. He had absolutely no energy to stand right now. It wasn't even meant to be but he found himself leaning against the elevator wall and sliding to the left until his side of the body connected to Stark's and for a moment there Stark was the only one keeping his straight.
Steve must've been feeling really awful, because he had stopped talking and ducked his head taking deep breaths. His bad hand and arm resting over his good in front of him with the cut off cord still stuck inside his fist. He will be fine obviously with his special healing factors but that didn't mean it hurt like hell in the moment. The inventor felt incredibly guilty at that moment. It wouldn't have happened if he listened to Rogers the first time and maybe if he got rid of that old ass soldering gun from twenty years ago!
Within minutes Stark had Steve sat in the back seat and closed the door, went around the car and go in the back with Steve. Barton asked questions that Stark kind of didn't answer because his focus was on Steve's pained expression beside him. "Alright then, Jarvis it is." Barton said before the AI and Barton started talking to each other. Steve's eyes were closed and his head leaned back, brows knitted together in pain. His chest still rose and fell a little too fast and that hand.. under the towel there was just blood and burn dark rubber, his skin had pulled back against his thumb and god it was awful to look at. Tony once again turned to shove his knuckles into his mouth to stop himself from gagging through some deep breathing exercises because good lord..
This was going to be rough to clean out for Steve and Stark knows there is no kind of painkiller to ease his pain.
TBC?
You let me know if this needs a 'comfort' part because so far its just hurt. I am going to tag it as hut/comfort so..
Love y'll, see ya!
